Really informative video, would like to have more such videos. I had two following questions, What all softwares did you use while you did M.arch in sustainable design , and also what is your current JD in the firm you are working. Also thankyou for being so transparent and sharing your experiences.

Thank you for uploading this video, it was really helpful. I really needed to hear about masters in architecture from somebody who is already working in the US. I am currently studying b.arch in India and am in my final year and am planning to do my masters in the US in about a year or 2 from now. Also, I've been hearing that getting a license in architecture in the US is a long & tedious process which requires you to answer 6 different exams after completing masters along with an internship. So I just wanted to ask whether it's possible to have a financially decent life on a long term basis as an architect in the US without having a license as compared to the situation in India wherein in most cases you are required to have a license inorder to start your own business which will allow you to have a good financial life? And out of all indian architects who go to the US, do all of them try and get a license or do they just work in a firm or under other architects permanently?
@viditsoni8801
@viditsoni8801 2 года назад
Hey Aryan, I am glad you liked the video. So you can work as an Architectural Designer in the US without a license forever, but if you want to start your own practice, you will need one. Having said that, I would recommend at least starting the process once you are done with your Master's because many companies prefer hiring someone whom they know will get a license in the future. The process is so long because they want us to have a good amount of hands-on experience before we get the license. Good Luck!

See first decide the course then see which unis are providing these courses then see the faculties teaching it and how long this course is running in the college ...find people on LinkedIn who have done similar course and get a review.. this is how we did it! I hope it helps!

Hi Akshita, Adding on to what Saransh said. Doing masters is great, but also think about where you want to be in the next 10 years, what you want to learn, what interests you. This will automatically start the domino effect and also do look at the financial part. That doesn't mean you shouldn't apply to expensive and big colleges. If your work is good, you might get a scholarship and assistantship which will get the overall expense down.

Hi Hope you are doing!! Last time I contacted you, you had advised me to Join M.Arch in the US. (I was between UK and US). I applied to both anyways.. I got into 1. Virginia Tech 2. Northeastern University ( with a 25 perc scholarship ) 3. Arizona State University 4. SCI_Arc ( Tuition is too high comparatively ) 5. Pratt ( 3 year course ) 6. University of Houston Suggestions based on knowledge and experience will be appreciated. Please do help on making a decision. Struggling between Virginia TECH and Northeastern University mainly. Open to suggestions. Thanks

Hi Kamar, Congratulations on receiving so many admission offers. There are a lot of factors that you have to consider while making a decision, without them, it is impossible for us to suggest. All of the colleges listed above are great. Although I haven't heard about the University of Huston much. (that doesn't mean it is not good) A few things you can do- -Think about what type of work you want to do in the future. Look into their curriculum and electives offered. This will help you out. - Get in touch with their recent grads and current students and get an idea about studio projects, jobs,s, and placements. - You can even reduce a 3-year course to a 2-year one. There is a process for it that I am not aware of but get in touch with admissions. Tell them about the duration of your bachelor's, and prove your excellence through your portfolio and experience. - Compare the scholarships. (You can even email the college back and request them if they can offer more. be very polite and enthusiastic at the same time.) -Most importantly. Make sure it's a STEM course. Without it, you can work only for 1-year post-graduation. STEM will allow for 3-years. Hope this helps. Wishing you all the best.

Hello, thanks for the video, I have also applied to US for Master's with a specialization in Sustainable design. Can you answer a few questions for me if possible? 1. Why did you choose Thomas Jefferson as it is a private university and naturally the fees would be more than other public colleges. You mentioned the course fee was less or something like that so how did it compare to the other universities that you applied to? 2. What was your approx. 1 year expense at Thomas Jefferson.. including stay, food, tuition, miscellaneous etc.? 3. Can you explain a little about your course and what subjects you studied and how the teaching here is in comparison to other colleges, incase you know from your other friends studying there? Thankyou in advance! I hope you find the time to answer these questions...
@viditsoni8801
@viditsoni8801 2 года назад
Hi Ruchira, 1)I know it is not a public university, but the course I wanted was only in a few colleges back then I didn't come across any public university with such a course. My inclination was more towards a design-based program. 2) Apart from tuition, your cost of living will be around $500-800, depending on how you choose to stay. 3) I do not have friends from other colleges doing a similar course, but you should definitely visit Thomas Jefferson's website to know more. It is simple to navigate and has a lot of information for all the courses they offer. Hope that helps
