I never even knew Target was around in the late 80s. We never had one here until 2000. Yeah, I know the feeling of being a kid and seeing that giant box then, and we couldn't bring it home. Lol. Thanks for watching and sharing your story on seeing that playset at one time in the store!👍
I’m sure I’ve commented somewhere about this, but yeah, Eternia was one of the only toys I didn’t have growing up, and my parents got me just about everything from the vintage line. I didn’t have multiple variants of He-Man and Skeletor because their logic was “you already have that character,” so I had the Battle Armor versions until they broke, and then I had Thunder Punch He-Man and eventually the original Skeletor. Same thing with Hordak; once he broke, I had the Buzz-Saw version. Toward the end, there were a few figures and accessories I never had because I started outgrowing the toys, and Eternia was where my parents drew the line as they couldn’t justify the expense or the space needed for such a huge play set (and now I totally understand why). So, I took all of that into account when I pulled the trigger on this version of Eternia, because I vowed to try to find a way to complete this line (which is still proving difficult). I really sat on the decision for a full week (before the King Grayskull deadline ended) until I finally decided, “Okay, fine,” and sold off a large amount of vintage video games, that I knew I could just emulate on my computer if I ever wanted to play them again, in order to get the funds for it. And now, I have the damn thing still sitting in its box in the attic above our garage (which I basically pushed up a ladder by myself…that was fun 🙄) because I don’t have any room for it in the house at the moment, even after having over a year to think about it. I don’t know what the hell I was thinking, really… Anyway, on to my thoughts: this truly is a massive and fun-looking play set! The mechanism for the arms pulling a figure into the mouth of the Central Tower is pretty awesome, I have to say. I could also see filling that moat with water, but personally I probably will never do that. The elevator lift works great as well. Side-note: I was gonna ask if you ever found that other missile, so I’m glad you did. Don’t you hate when something mysteriously vanishes two seconds after you left it somewhere or it fell on the floor? Getting old and forgetful sucks… The trap door on Grayskull Tower works great! That ball and chain trigger is interesting in theory, but it doesn’t seem to work all that well. Still cool, though. Viper Tower is really cool how the head moves around and snaps. Right there, I can already tell it’s something my son would enjoy using to bash around the figures. I also like how the smaller snakes around the tower latch onto and support the monorail track. And then of course the monorail itself. I hadn’t realized until I saw some other reviews that there were three separate monorail cars that you can use. Pixel Dan also showed there’s a trap door on the purple car that can be activated by placing a clip on the track. The clip triggers the red switch in the back and opens the trap door. He set it up perfectly so that the figure dropped into the moat next to the Central Tower! It’s amazing and probably one of the best features! I was kind of hoping you’d show the configuration for the track moving around just the Central Tower, but you were probably pressed for time, it’s a pretty long review. I do also appreciate that they put the Moat Monster in its own “collector-friendly” box. The fact that both it and King Grayskull are using “The Powers of Grayskull” logo tells me that Mattel is definitely planning to go all in on that sub-line in the near future, which means we’ll likely get characters like He-Ro, Eldor, Sharella, probably even Keclar, the giants and the dinosaurs, etc. That would also fall in line with the new direction the vintage line was heading into before it ended, as Eternia was also the precursor to that new era back in the 80s. Overall, this is something I could see my son and I having hours of fun with. Although, it was so expensive that I’d probably wait at least another year or two until I introduce it to him. Obviously don’t want anything to break if he plays with it too hard. One other thing I’ll say: it’s cool that they included a mini-comic, but the art is really not that great, which is kind of disappointing. But perhaps the most important question from one collector to another: what condition did the box come in? 😂 ~Damon
Wow, that's all interesting! Yeah, I also always wanted an Eternia playset going back to a kid in the 80s, and I only saw one in the box in Child's World for a hundred dollars and my mom said no way as I mentioned at the beginning of my review! I never saw one again! I never imagined that a line like the Origins would ever exist 40 years later and release a modernized version of Eternia that I now have!. Good things come to those who wait! It's really fun! But it does take up a lot of space and it was very expensive! This review or overview really wasn't designed to be a complete setup tutorial like Pixal Dan did! I showed a lot of the features and setup, but not everything like the sky cage opening trap. I cut a few other features from my review. I honestly wasn't even gonna do a review the way I did with this. I was gonna set it up in my man's cave at some point and just show it a toy tour. It was complex and difficult to set a film every up because of health issues I struggle with. My wife helped with a lot of stuff. It's always good to watch multiple reviews on different channels of similar figures and products to see different setups, opinions, and maybe features I missed and vice-versa! Awesome review of an incredible playset. Eternia is so on brand for MOTU. Completely ridiculous, “throw a monorail in there” design. Like when we were kids, Star Wars and GI JOE made some kind of sense (in their own, fictional universe) but MOTU characters, vehicles and playsets stopped and made you ask, “WTF is going on, here?” 😂 That’s what made this toy line so great. Never been anything like it ever since.

I always wanted that Eternia I remember seeing one time in Child's World as a kid sitting on the floor in box for $99.99 My mom said no way! I never saw one again in real life. Only on RU-vid decades later from people who had a vintage one. Now 40 years later this Playset comes around full circle and even bigger and better than the vintage one from what I seen with a couple of comparisons online from people who have both sets now. I'm surprised they included the Electronic mono raíl for the Origins as many figures seem to get the vintage action features cut or replaced with snap on ball peg features. Yeah it definitely something cool to look at now all together 👍
Sorry you’re not feeling well bud. Put some sticky lights behind the eyes… very cool! I have about a 4x10’ setup for mine w/ Grayskull and Snake mountain…still tight 😂 fun stuff though. Still decorating and lighting my area. Main tower is my “Eternos” plus Grayskull tower (good parking place for Road Ripper) and snake tower is for my hand full of snakes.
Thanks, man! Yeah, I have had chronic health and severe pain all over and in my spine for years. Nothing new! That light setup behind the eyes sounds awesome! I was gonna also put the snake mountain in the video for comparisons. But I couldn't open it up and have enough room on the table to really get a good look. For the price looks like people are getting their money's worth. Growing up I don't ever recall seeing the original on shelf. I hear the track is problematic. Overall, so glad you got it. Most of my collection and filming is done in my man cave of garage separate from the house. We set the Playset up on the living room table to film and display it for now. But it's gonna come apart and go in my garage somewhere!
those carts boogie. I wasn't expecting them to move that quick. As a kid I never saw it function that I remember. I always thought it was kind of brilliant how it all fits together and works regardless of how haphazard the structures are. It's an amusement park for sure. They really upgraded the towers as well The whole back end of the grayskull tower is new, very cool. the snake tower never did anything but spin so seeing it strike is nuts. Even seeing the arms on the main tower spin as the grab. Was not expecting any of those overhauls.
Thanks for checking my Eternia setup and review out! Yeah, the overall design with the Towers, accessories, and that Monorail cart is definitely impressive up close. I never saw a real vintage Eternia playset up close aside from that time in the box at Childs World , as I mentioned at the beginning of the video. But I know Mattel designed this Origins Eternia bigger and with other upgrades such as better details and additional action features. The cart is really fun, and its also cool that they stuck with the vintage inspired motorized design, but adding additional carts like the sky cage. The Snake Tower articulated strike Snake head is also fun to do. Even though I can't get it to directly attack a figure on the track. I guess it's just the idea of the threat when the cart or cage is going around the playset. Overall, this Eternia piece was very expensive and took up a lot of space. But im excited to finally get it in hand after 40 years of always wanting one!👍
I remember seeing them on clearance in Ohio at a store called Biggs. I was kinda out on action Figs and mainly Nintendo.. so I was a NO. Great Video man.. awesome playset.
No kidding! When I was a kid, the Eternia playset was rare, and only the rich and spoiled kids had one. I only knew of a kid in school who apparently got it then. I didn't see it or go over his house. But my friend was also friends with him and did see it. It's so cool to finally have 40 years later! The weird attachment that you have classics Skeletor hanging from at the end of the video; it's supposed to be used with the sky cage. You put the attachment on the track and when the sky cage passes it, the attachment triggers the red paddle on the sky cage and drops the figure inside. Try it out.
Thanks for checking out my setup and sharing that info. I only noticed that it snaps on the track, and a figure hangs on it from the guide. But I'll take another look later. You're probably correct. It makes sense that hook does something else. There were a few details I cut in editing to save time with parts like putting the body harness upside down on the Sky cage as a Blaster. But then I couldn't see how you could still use that cart. Little things like that! Thanks again 👍

@@Themanchlid I studied your video and kind of matched it up. The sticker was the hardest, took me like 4 hours to figured it and stick them on. At the end, I got it all. What a relief. I’m not a sticker talented guy, I have shaky hands. Putting up together was easier. When I had the Grayskull and Snake Mountain, didn’t need to read the instructions, it all came back to me, but since I never had the Eternia set, that was a little bit difficult, but I owe you with your video. @pop_actor I'm happy to hear my video helped you out enough to set this playset up. Some things are easy to put together. Other things you will probably need, like those directions or someone's setup review, similar to mine to figure things out better. The stickers were a pain. I put most of them ok. Others I screwed up a bit. I can't believe you figured most of them out by watching my review. I pointed some out. But I really needed the manual to figure out a lot of them. I was gonna do a whole setup review video originally, as i mentioned, and go through everything in detail. But time, space issues, health issues, and I didn't want to make an hour plus setup review to show all that stuff. I was also late to the party with my Eternia review. Thanks for watching my review after seeing other Eternia playset reviews! I just showed the setup and some of the overall play features. I wanted to add more footage with Unboxing and other comparisons with the Origins Snake Mountain set. But I didn't have the space, and I wanted to keep the review short. These things can go for an hour. I don't like making videos that long if I can avoid it. What's funny is I originally mentioned putting water in that moat. But it was cut in editing to save time. Yeah, you definitely put water in the moat from what I can see. But I put that main Eternia tower on a sheet of clear plastic on the floor or a large water tray like the ones they put under a washer in case the interior ever had a leak. The sheet of plastic is cheaper. Go to the hardware store or home improvement store. Get a plastic 6x8 or 8x10 foot sheet of 3mm drop cloth plastic. You can keep it folded or cut as needed. I would keep at least a foot or two sticking out around the playset main tower in case of over spill. Also, if you wanted to remove or change the water at some time, then use one of those manual fluid sucker pumps for gas or fluids.

Thanks for stopping by to see my Eternia setup! Yeah, I also had a difficult time with space. I set it up on my living room table temporarily to review and check it out. The main box is really big. But if you take everything out, then you don't need as much space for the pieces. You don't have to build the track around the three towers like I showed. That takes up a lot of space even though it looks cool, and that's the overall idea. If you always wanted this Eternia playset like I did since I was a kid. Then I would not sell just yey. See what you do to make space with the pieces or leave the three towers closer together without the Giant track setup 👌

I absolutely hate Mattel. Today they refunded my Eternia saying it is no longer available. Like what the hell ? :D I have been waiting and waiting and they always told me there was a delay and they are working hard on resolving it and i should give it more time. I got King Greyskull 9th of May though without any notification, very strange.
@Rulav2010 Sorry to hear about your Eternia playset not being available! That is strange. I haven't heard of any other orders being canceled and refunded from the comments. But that doesn't mean it also didn't happen to other people. I have heard of some factory issues and broken parts in certain sets. I found one cracked area on one of my accessories later after my review and just glued it because I don't think they have extra parts available. It's a good thing you're at least getting a refund back instead of also dealing with a problem on that end as well. I think Mattel only manufactured the exact amount of playsets for the Preorders. Maybe your Eternia showed it smashed or severely damaged to Mattel warehouse, and they just canceled the order, saying it's no longer available. But who's knows what the reason is. If that happened to me. I would put that money aside and budget some more to pick up an Eternia on eBay. Of course, look for the cheapest one, and that seller has good feedback. I did this with the Super7 Classics Snake Mountain. I backed out of the Presale because I had financial issues. A couple of years later, I ran into a little money and went on eBay and picked one up for a few hundred dollars more. It sucks. But I'm glad I got one. Eternia is another playset that is worth the extra cost if you coudent get one and can come up with the extra funds at some point. But that's just my opinion. Sorry about your unfortunate situation, and I hope you find a way to get one in hand at some point!👍

@Rulav2010 No problem with the reply! That's a positive attitude! You will get one at some point! We're fortunate that sites like eBay exist, and you can find everything you want sooner or later for the right price! Just make a plan. Look at a few buy now auctions with that Eternia, the price you're willing to pay, how much is the shipping, and make sure the seller has at least 99 percent positive feedback. You can't imagine the thousands of dollars I spent over on eBay over three decades finding things I wanted on eBay. It's always worked out! It's definitely a good thing you got the refund and that King Grayskull, as you mentioned.👍
Holy crap! I thought the same thing about another motor. But I haven't looked for one. I don't doubt that on eBay now. I just paid 50 dollars for Reptilax on eBay. And over a hundred for lord Grasp
@@Themanchlid you know where I can find a similar wheels type from another toy set maybe a none motor that my main vehicle can drag the other vehicles like a train unless the power ain’t that strong??. I just find it lame that we can only use one.
@TheRickster. I would say ebay. But I'm not sure what other vehicles would have anything similar to adapt to that setup. This track system has its own unique design that is different from track toys. Maybe something off a small model kit or another cheap toy with plastic wheels that you can remove and make some kind of adapter with plastic hobby stock and glue to hand. You would have to make an upside-down trolley adapter with 2 or 4 small wheels that are riding on the top of the track that have a small frame or plastic ears and a little box design so it rolls but can't fall off. You would pre build it and remove one of the snapped together, track sections to put in on. The wheels would be very close facing each other. Another idea would be a plastic pully block that is a little wider than the track. Look on amazon for stuff like that. Measure the width and thickness of the track and see the dimensions of those roller pullys.
@TheRickster. No problem, man! I think I would just make my own single roller system with an adapter piece underneath first. Then, figure out how to adapt the other cage or parts later once you design it to free roll around the track and not get stuck.

@@collegetoycollector A lot of people wanted this set because it was inspired by a super rare release over seas in the mid 80s. Most people who collected the Motu brand didn't even know about these repaints until He-man.org came around and I think there was customs made. The Classics was supposed to also come out with these figures at some point from rumors I read. But that line ended. Once the Origins came around and announced this set for an exclusive and explained the back story to it which I believe Leo Faker was an Argentina variant in 1985. Dupli cat was a fan custom with the robotics and paint. So I think Mattel got permission to merge these concept figures or repaints in a box set and made them an exclusive that sold out in seconds! I couldn't get one either! I unfortunately bought mine on ebay for to much money! Lol
