MMA BARBER LIFE hey man i used andis masters to fade my own hair but i have hard times fading from a #8 with a whal clipper ontop to the zero from the andis master any ideas what guards i should used??? I fade this exact hair cut...I got the purple magnetic guards for the masters from 0-4 guard
I’ll try and keep this short. A 2 guard should be able to blend into an 8 on top if you have str8 or over-curly hair. and finish with some free handing if you have over-curly hair. I hope this helps.
Nice job. Interesting concept. It seems kinda basic but it’s important...the camera work was very good. I home cut with an Oster Fast Feed, the Andis double magnet guards (which are brilliant) and I have an Andis ceramic blade. I couldn’t ask for more. I tried a rotary Wahl once but the smooth, quiet & cool running...high torque pivot motor Fast Feed just feels right to me. Keep these coming.
The thing I think he forgot to mention with the Andis is the heat. IMO they fade better than anything out there, but no matter how I set them, how much I oiled them, They were always hot after one haircut and scalding my skin off after three heads and after 25 cuts I went back to the wahl for the rest of the day. I tried wrapping them in wet paper towel and blowing it with the dryer to cool the handle down between cuts which works but is time consuming and looks ridiculous.
Great video, really good info! I've worked with barbers who have like 15 different clippers and it's never made any sense to me. All I use are my masters and classic 76 👍👍
Great video! I only have Wahls, so I saw you getting the fade just like I do. You were able to achieve the fades quicker with the Oster and the Andis Master, but, yes, in the end, they all get the job done.
They serve their purpose for certain scenarios. Through experimenting with clients, I realize that certain guards or Blades or a combination of both work best to achieve the fastest result.
Great video man. I have all 3 and love them. I use them for different things but I love the fade better with Wahl Clippers. I usually alternate between Masters and Fast Feeds for cuts and finish blends with Wahl
My translation for these three Clippers is magnetic motor versus rotary motor versus pivot motor sorry to be the spoiler but they all do different things. in my opinion it makes no sense to compare Clippers that all have different Motors refer to chapter 6 of The milady's Barber book and it teaches you about the effects of each motor separately.... have a good day everybody and never stop learning my fellow barbers...
The motors are different but these three clippers for the same thing. They are just different brands of adjustable finishing clippers. The more interesting difference is the blade designs.
@Donald Trump just get the walls, you can buy wall anywhere you can get wall guards anywhere. the Masters are great unless something breaks and you have to tell your client hold on I'm an Amazon prime member, I'll finish your haircut in 2 days.
Wahl is the most beginner friendly clippers to use imo. They are quick and easy to use they dont get hot very quickly and they are easy to modify blades or zero gap. That being said for fading give me an andis masters all day every day. Just to fade to a 1.5 on wahl you have to use 3 guards on the masters only need to use 1. More efficient and blends easy if you tune it and learn to use it properly. No better fading clipper imo. Only cons is it gets hot after 25-30 minutes so if you are a beginner it will get hot on you and it doesnt take down bulk well. If you use clippers like i do one for bulk and one for fading then you are good to go.
My observation using all three, Wahl clippers have more steps and more guards because he blade only opens to a .5, the master fades with less steps (guard changing) but you need to be able to fade using the lever...same with the fast feed but fast feeds seem to cut softer? Like they don’t catch allll the hair alll the time but that can help sometimes especially with people fading and trying to touch up the fade. The masters cut...if you overshoot by the smallest bit there will be a part missing from the hair. The osters give a little wiggle room. Used to use the master to fade and the oster to detail it for that very reason. But since I’ve gotten busier you sorta try to become more efficient with one clipper and that’s the masters for me.
Stop the bullshit it depends on the texture of the hair when fading if u have the proper tools ,But whal gives u that clean look, Oysters,Andis edgers, are better that's the difference I been doing this,in da hood plus liscene, 28yrs, taking clippers apart setting blades whatever, experience u digg
In my Opinion master is good for a all even cut. Wahl and fast feed is great for fading basic of this video. I give up my master and went with the oster 76 clippers, fast feed, and wahl magic cordless which is also good for beards.
The blend with the masters and the fast feeds came out identical to me. The fade with the magic clips came out blurry, there was just something different about it. I myself cut with magic clips, and I agree their guard system is easy. However, the final cut of a masters of fast feed blend just looks more polished to me. The way they leave the hair, it just looks different then Wahl guards and clippers... to my eye. Because of that I'm thinking of making a switch.
I don’t understand how barbers think using a certain clipper is gonna make a hair look better vs another clipper. If you understand the concept of fading and know the fundamentals, it doesn’t matter. As long as the tools you use are sharp.
Alex Maya No I’m not joking. My preference is the Wahls over Andis but I know people who choose Andis over Wahls. It’s whatever the barber is better or more comfortable with. The concept of fading is to get from short or no hair to longer hair, hence why they call it “fade”. The slight variances is the type of blade you use such as the fade blade vs the taper or whatever people feel they can master. It’s not to say the machines aren’t different... they are in fact different and the outcome will be slightly different but that’s only because you cannot use the exact same technique for every machine. You’re gonna have to adjust to how they cut. This is why you have steps, guards, and lever for pretty much all the clippers out there. I hear people swear by the Andis master then a couple years later I never see them use it again. What does that say? It says people’s opinions are like bootyholes, everybody has one.
Well it doesn't make a huge difference IF you are using premium clippers. That I agree with. However, even with mad skills a master barber won't be able to get the same results using most budget clippers vs premium clippers. That statement I will wholeheartedly agree with.
Andis are my main tools 20+ years cutting whals oysters I’ve had and they are ok But give me Andis all day & of course it’s about the barber skill levels
For me, the Wahl guard system has too many steps. With Andis or Fast Feeds, the purple guards just blend into each other without having to think about it. I never need too much detail work. With the Wahls, you really need to be precise or the fade comes out way too choppy and you have to detail more. I also like how the Fast Feeds and Masters open into a 1. I'm also a fairly new barber so when I was learning, I was using Fast Feeds. I'm sure if you started on Wahls then you'd have no issue. The purple guards are just second nature to me now.
Nice work beloved..I’m tryna get some clippers for my beard and to shape up my beard myself..what do U recommend I get for my beard and to shape up my beard ?
This was a well needed video..... Finally..... I'm a Wahl fan myself and I have the fast feeds but I did like the fast feeds better if the the clippers. I hate using fast feeds because my blends don't come out as smooth as Wahl but this was a video that needed to come out.... thanks
I am no where near as good or experienced as you as a barber ( I'm not a professional but my dad is) , I've been using cordless magic clips with standard guards for self cuts and cutting family hair and its never fell off on me... the 1.5 guard however doesn't fit nicely on the side of the blade any great cut :)
Andis clippers are slower but precise. I noticed the amount of passes to level the fade. For a beginner they’ll usually have really hot clippers at the end. The Oster fast feeds really are the fastest ones here. If getting them in and out is your thing, can’t go wrong. The Wahl are in between both and extremely beginner friendly. Like he said… if you follow the guides there’s no way you’ll mess up a fade.
Your absolutely totally right it all depends on the barber 💈 whose cutting your hair that can get that great smooth badass fade. In other words any clipper you use can do the job.
I like them all each pair has there own unique qualities. Every barber should have at the least one of each in his or her station. Nevertheless as a barber we should always hold one finger on the guard for that extra security thats a rookie mistake that could have been catastrophic
If you compare the teeth on the cutting blade from the fast feed to the wahl you can see that the fast feeds have less but wider and are further apart. This is better for coarse hair for sure.
Oster 76 all day, and I have all the blades. I have Majic clips but I use them only on certain clients. Detachable blades are to manual transmission as a adjustable is to automatic transmission.
But did you notice you had to come back and detail with the wahls and after the 1.5 guard it leaves like a patch look on the top area of the side. Masters is an overall and the fast feed looked easy could be his texture.
Ok please let me ask you. I am going bald, was for a long time. And I had my hair cut more and more and now I am having my hair clipped on sides and back and on top its really short but not clipped by clippers but by the barber. He said its better looking. But now I am looking into buying a one of these clippers and clip my hair myself and just go to a hairdresser/barber once in while. I have to go there now quite often because I have thin hair / balding. Good think I am blond xD But do not know which ones I should go for. Also I should probably look for some guides xD
Hey Man, I’ve been cutting hair now for about 5 months and I’m starting to see improvement but I recently dropped my clipper and it broke. Any recommendations for clippers and trimmers? Hope you reply it’ll help very much!
MMA BARBER LIFE 300-400 around that budget, but your suggestions are great. As far as guards, do you recommend buying some better guards for the senior ? Would you prefer the magic clips cordless or cordless senior?
I've been an Andis guy all my life and I'm so used to it I'm scared to transition to Wahl. But wouldn't the Wahl clippers take more steps/guards to achieve a fade since it doesn't open up to a 1? It seems like going in between all those guards would be tedious or am I wrong? And wouldn't your guide lines have to be smaller on the client's head for Wahl since it doesn't open up to a 1 like the Andis Master? I'm open for enlightenment
One thing you can do for your videos is set the camera to Manual focus set your focus on his head and let it film. Better than auto focus which was hunting in and out.
I remember i use to think certain clippers had special.powers .💺..because they had a certaein name or design on them...but the principles of cutting dont change no matter what type of tools the barber decides to use...however and yes there is a how ever ..however i always believed thst whals were much better for taping and fading black hair ...facts... the detachsbles are clearly much fadter and cleaner and precise... i believe more skilled barbers prefere tge detachables for the purpose of speed and durability... now as far as the Guards falling off its only does it with the 1/2 guard and the 1 guard...i also learned that my clients hair growed back much faster when i balled the fade out with the detachables vs. The Andis trimmers... enclosing i have cut hair with no name knock offs and i was able to pull off some of the best work in my cutting experience...however those tools either became overheated ,or didnt have that durable feel....and that alone could send a barber into a cutting frenzy. Other then that this is a good video as a barber i can tell the difference,i personally cleanup and cut with all type of tools...i generally do my cleanup work with just about any tool depending upon what type of cutting mood im in...AliFreeHandDesignsinc.TM.💈 □FadeMaster□FastestBarberInNJ○BlendMaster■FroHawk□BaldFade💈💈💈💈💺 .
@@IDOITTRAVELS that's actually the course I am interested in. I am currently in TBC here in Houston, thinking of finding work then continuing education with cosmetology for the next few years before enrolling.
Fresh bro.. I'm in barber school now as well. My instructor makes us use blades but we still use guards when she not around . I would love to see more blade tutorials on coarse hair ..from you . I got pics posted on IG ..@rudy_vthebarber . What recording , camera and editing tools are you using ?
You should learn the blades! The blades are faster and cut cleaner. I absolutely love fading with blades. I use a Canon 80D, and I edit with Final Cut Pro. I leave links in the description of my videos of all the equipment and tools I use. Hope that helps.
narber school? (proof read your reply, spell check) If there is a red line under a word you have an incorrect spelling. Right click the word and the correct spelling will appear, select it and you don't look like your in the 1st grade of school.
It's like saying your more efficient with a 9mm glock rather than a 9mm S&W, it's all about the operator and their tool preference with the hit or miss.
I was big on the fade masters until i got the fast feeds. I can use anything but the fast feeds are better to me. I want to buy the magic clip but dont wanna buy them and dont use them. Never liked the seniors.
No prob, DAPIMP! The gold masters Blade I got from IdealBarberSupply. You can find them on ig, and go to their site. It took forever to show up tho. Over a month!!! I cannot remember where I got the gold t outliner lads from because the site doesn’t sell them anymore, and in turn, I forget the site name. However, IdealBarberSupply does have gold t outliner blades, but, idk if they’re the same as the ones I have. Go check em out and see if it’s worth it. Hope this helps.
Please use the blade modifier on a new blade and line up one whole side and use a standard blade just zero gapped and line the other side to see which side is crispier and see how much it works! I've had it since last year and...... Well I just want to see this video first before I comment on my experience.......
I just can’t get with adjustable I wanna learn every clipper it like u gotta keep flicking out n moving the lever with detachable each blade go with each other when fading n then it gives it a cleaner look with detachable
