You've only done one other song by them that I'm aware of called Sleeping Giant. One of my personal favorites. And yes they do progressively more clean vocals with each subsequent album.
Best song off of that album imo. Their sound has certainly changed and morphed throughout the years but even their newer songs has that Mastodon signature.

In later albums the band members all share and swap around singing duties. Often now the drummer is singing lead and he’s amazing but the whole band can sing

Really just their first album is only growls. This song happens to be of their debut, so maybe you would like the stuff further down their discography more. 'Oblivion' of Crack the Skye actually has three of them doing clean vocals and is generally a great progressive track. Very different from this song, but maybe you would like it more as it is much more experimental and not your classic metal of this era.
Good video my dude. But my guy, you have a long Mastodon journey to go. This was their first album, and it is their heaviest by far. The next 2 albums are more progressive and less sludge. They incorporate a lot more clean vocals in their later stuff. Most of the cleans come from either Brent the guitarist, or Brann the drummer. Troy does do some strained cleans in some songs. The band has evolved a lot in the last 20 years and their later stuff sounds very different. I love their new and old material but some people don't like the new stuff. I would highly encourage you to listen to the new stuff and make your own determination.
This is definitely different from their later stuff. It gets much sludgier and has a lot of clean vocals. I can highly recommend Asleep in the Deep, Curl of the Burl, or my absolute favorite, Dry Bone Valley(if you REALLY want a messed up video lol)
You’ve gotta check out mother puncher from this same record, absolute banger loaded with godly riffs, it’s a staple in their love sets still to this day 20+ yrs later. Anyway mastodon rules, their discog is god tier. Anyway this is their only album where they sound like this, they got more progressive and more melodic with time. Highly recommend mother puncher but if you wanna hear one of their still heavy but epic songs from the album after this “hearts alive” is a must listen.
