sometimes it's the choice of the channel where ads go, but i think youtube does place their own ads on top of that whenever they want(automatically/ai controlled of course). And the channel should be able to go back and remove this ad if i remember correctly
Mastodon covered this back in 2006. Kerrang bought different bands together to cover different songs off the album and was called "Master of Puppets Remastered." They may have rerecorded or remastered it since but this isn't the first time this has seen the light of day.
This was also the first time I'd heard the outro played cleanly enough to hear each instrument completely... ...and I bought Master of Puppets on tape back in '87.
Yeah it is a little annoying that they don't seem to credit the original bands in these covers on youtube. Trivium did the same thing with their songs and everyone thought it was new original music by them.
Mastodon does an amazing job of recreating the originals, with a bit of their added sound. But, I would love to hear them go balls-out and Mastodon-ify some of these old treasures.
This song is greatness its written in such a way that no matter how many times or how long you listen to it, you anticipate vocals but they never come in, pure genius
Wow, that was awesome! Also - I want to apologize to all the warriors frantically letting everyone know they recorded this back in 2006. I hadn't heard it until now. Thanks for letting it be known that you were aware of this previously. If it's no trouble, please allow me to enjoy it now though. Thanks!!
My favorite interpretation was at Rock in Rio in 2011......they played Orion and was insane! The crowd was possessed hahaha.....Since I'm from Brazil, I never expected to see this song alive.
Brann looks like he always plays with clenched cheeks ... the man enjoys his art regardless ... his drum face says it ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
Johnny Wetenkamp I love his energy but he far too often plays WAY to many fills,,, quality not quantity is the ticket... less is more... don’t think he’ll change anytime soon though......
Johnny Wetenkamp Yep, heres an example- many years ago I got to see The Fabulous Thunderbirds in Houston Texas with Jimmy Vaughn of course on Guitar,, Drummer was super solid but played very few fills,,, almost none in fact,, like two Tom notes or a single crash cymbal here and there and I found myself wondering is he going to open up or what-- he didn’t and afterwards I thought quite a bit about that guy and decided I liked the shit out of what he did because as I said he was Rock Solid with a lot of Swagger in his playing-- so sometimes just playing great time can impress more than all the pyrotechnics that drummers, (especially today!!) indulge in.
@@DrDizzleFrizzle "Future Imperfect" One that can be easily spoiled so won't go too into detail.. but starts out it's Riker's birthday, he takes an away team down to an unknown planet, ends up passing out from methane gas and waking up 16 years later lol.
The best 2000's band covering the best 80's band.....insane! You guys saying Lars sucks when he created that drums (at least the skeleton of the drums on the song). 'Till 1989 he was a maniac on the drums...come on...after this he became lazy, that's all.
mind you back then Lars also was a more than decent drummer himself. He got fucked at around 89 when he sniffed all the coke in LA with Slash. He only quit in 2005. So we can say coke ruined the best band ever. But, at least they made 4 full albums that are metal history.
I seen that the other mastodon Orion video was deleted and my heart sank. I'm glad the real mastodon posted this one Cuz I was gonna go mental without it.
I'm happy they did this. As a guitar player I feel the bass needed to be turned up during the first climax 1:30. and during the outro. I imagine there were good reasons why they didn't, it's just those parts didn't feel as impactful. This was still really cool.
CLIFF EM ALL!!! Absolutely my favorite Metallica Song!!! Cliff was a genius and is truly and sorely missed! I cant even imagine the music we've lost from his passing. We know what we got instead.
I was listening to this and it just came into my mind...this sounds like something High on Fire would have written. Odd, never came to mind before listening to this song.
4:00 I don't know why, but if it's not from the original album version, the guitar bend never sounds right. Not even when Metallica plays it live. Studio magic there
That's because Metallica used six guitars in the original recording. This cover demonstrates it pretty well. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-maMded429PU.html&ab_channel=JimDunne
They just aren't quite hitting the bends right here, they movement of the notes isn't like the original, and it def sounds worse. Live Metallica probably they aren't hitting it quite as closely as they did in the studio as it's harder to hear the tiny differences in pitch to make it perfectly harmonise, with all the the noise of a gig. And yeah as mentioned they also can't add the additional guitar layers live.
*I CHALLENGE YOU ALL TO WHATS CALLED, THE ORIONS BELT RUN* listen to this, Metallica's original, and the scorched earth orchestra versions all back to back. *RIDE THE LIGHTENING BROTHERS!*
@@Tdrummer888 Adapting a cover to your style is not ruining a piece, it's bringing a different perspective. A note-for-note cover is pointless and lazy. I expected better from Mastodon.
