If a few of the filler-y tracks were removed it’d be perfect, but the amount of amazing songs that are aging well for me is up there with CTS for me for sure
I really think it's awesome how Bill handled the vocals for the first minute of the song. You sounded bad ass Bill, we need to hear more of your singing.
Here's hoping you enjoyed Khemmis! I was so excited to see this lineup in November with Zeal & Ardor, and not taking anything away from them, at all, I was bummed to see that Khemmis was doing the second leg. Would have loved to have seen them on this bill! Very deserving opening slot.
This song is one of the best I have ever heard. I haven't vibed with a song this well since I was a little kid. This is a masterful composition, and the lyrics hit me right in the heart. "I did everything I could to try to get you to stay." I've felt that way too many times in my life.
I can't believe I'm alive to hear this, to feel this, to be swept away into this dimension of the miraculous mind of MASTODON!!!!! I wish everyone would hear this, feel this. Thank you
The night I went under And there was no one around Nothing to swim to Not the sky, not the ground I heard you speak to me And said to, "Just go down" Swept away In peaceful tranquility I wish that I could stay And I keep on waiting For someone to save me I keep waiting for someone to ask me, "What is your name?" Swept away In peaceful tranquility I wish that I could stay I've seen worse before I've had trouble breathing I've had scrapes and scars Healing from lacerations Bending from days on end I get up and walk away Through all the lies I told before Well now, they've all come true Never mind this screaming in the cold And when I caught a glimpse of you You were laughing at me and looking away And I did everything I could To try to get you to stay I pass through dimensions And leaving this plane Turning into the ether It changes everything Swept away In peaceful tranquility I wish that I could stay I can't hear at all I've had trouble speaking Will this heal my heart? Relive the never-ending Bending for days on end I'll get up and walk away
I'm just going to say it, it's up for debate... but I truly think this song could be the greatest song recorded so far within this millennium... I think it's honestly THAT good...
I’m a New fan to Mastodon : the once more round the sun album is bloody interesting & memorable, it’s different stuff but I can dig it because they are simply themselves & no one else really sounds like them. Very explorative & creative band that sets moods like real musicians do. The amount of great material they’ve already pumped out is quite impressive
@@jarlwhiterun7478 I don”t care all that much for southern rock either.. but, yeah they’re from Atlanta, use slide guitar when they feel like it and have some pretty bluesy solos, as you know from being a Mastodon fan. Brent also plays banjo, as I’m sure you also know. Southern rock is laced throughout their work, it’s not even a question. Sorry you missed the slight tongue-in-cheek of my original comment. I didn’t really mean to categorize them, just having some fun. I suppose I’ll use different fonts or whatever next time to reduce other people’s interpretational challenges.
It's impossible to label this piece of art. This is one of Mastodon's big achievements. They have found their own way and sound like Mastodon, as simple as that.
Amazing... Just amazing music, use of vocals, engineering, songwriting everything just out of this world. Drum sound is the new standard. Wettest snare I've ever heard.
I'm hearing early Van Halen which is something Id never predict say 10 years ago when I was first listening to these Masters of the art of RnR. Love it guys!
So I actually talked to Brent and Bill about this in a meet and greet, I asked if the tone was influenced by EVH, Bill said that Brent would have to answer on that riff and Brent said not that he was aware of, just that they liked the sound
I am simply blown away by these guys...blown away ! Such incredible music and video...... These guys are my new favorite band 💯 I detected a little VHish sound with some of the guitar parts and wow this is a unique man I'm just trying to digest all this.... When I feel music I feel it and I just feel in my spinal cord this music it reverberates through my entire being it's just incredible....
My favorite band today! I remember seeing mastodon for the first time. They were at red rocks in Denver, opening for alice in chains. So thank you Jerry for introducing me to my new love mastodon.
Saw them and Opeth at the Fox Theater in Oakland last December before they announced a second leg of the tour that came through Seattle. So I just saw them and Opeth again last night. Twice in 6 months... I feel privileged!!
I’m a brand-new mastodon fan. In the thing I got to tell you that draws me to you is your videos like you did from toe to toes. It’s an expression of who you guys are as people, the fun that you bring to your music. The talent and heart that you expressing your videos is going to connect with people. My advice to you guys, it shows who you are. Show us what you represent from your culture in Atlanta. And show us the musical spirit that you have inside your talent. I am telling you that you have more potential than you have reached. I’ve been paying attention to music for a long time and I really think you guys have a lot more untapped talent then people would even be willing to tell you a bell. You guys touch peoples hearts in peoples souls. And, that ability to do it through music is the most powerful ability you’re ever going to be bestowed. So I would recommend that you keep things at your level, down in the earth. And, real. That is where your connection with people will lie. I’ll love. Keep making music that touches people and connect them to the experiences that they have troubles facing.
I *REALLY* love the new trend of putting ads for different videos ON THE ACTUAL VIDEO so it RUINS THE VIDEO instead of AT THE END. Literally *100%* of videos now do this and we've all just gone "ok".
