Thank you for sharing this! Years back when I was recovering from cancer, I had to start with Indian Clubs because my legs were too weak for much of anything. I could definitely have seen this as a good balance between muscle endurance and light cardio and less risk of dropping it if one hand got weak.

The burn machine was out about 12 years ago. The original company in the United States also has been out of business for some years now. Brock Lesnar used it in his training. Kurt Angle promoted it. The company also had other unique equipment, but they were notably expensive. The company still have their RU-vid channel, but the videos are at least 10 years old. Even though they are out of business. Edit: The original company's RU-vid channel name was "TrainLikeABoss"

My therapist was having me do this above head level to really work that shoulder, for a minute at a time, and I absolutely *H*A*T*E*D* it after about 10 seconds. Killed me. With the rack it's another 1000 at least! It looks awesome. I would love for you guys to start doing comparisons of functional trainers built into power racks. I think it is going to be the future of home gyms, built in functional trainers just make sense. Can't see how it is much different than grabbing two 5 lb dumbbells putting a short resistance band around your wrists and cycling your hands like using a speedball. Plus that gives some added resistance against the band to keep it tight. That uses less than $20 worth of gear we all already have lying around.

I was there when they were introduced at the Arnold classic in Columbus Ohio for the original burn machine it looked exactly the same except for the two small rings on the outside we're not there. They were originally advertising it like a replacement for a boxing speed bag and would give you a t-shirt if you could do a whole minute of it over your head I got the T-shirt but the burn machine was obnoxiously expensive back then LOL That company went out of business and lost the patents for that kind of thing from what I understand so a bunch of companies made different alterations to them to sell them. That company also made curl bars which also tricep bars since the handles rotate they had the same design of handles in the middle with a peg for the plates to slide on the outside they also had a small one or two pound weight that could slide in between the two handles from side to side to make it harder on one side of your body than the other. One of their big claims was apparently 50 cent used it LOL I have one of the curl bars it's fun to play with sometimes.

My only criticism is that, although it's otherwise very well-made, the nylon inserts in the interior have broken, making it noisy, So I'm concerned that they will further wear down or break making the device unusable. I started doing Kempo (Beach Body) punches and combining them with pull-ups. Pretty cool. Similar concept, but I think it might be even better.
