Mat Hoffman's Pro BMX 2 - Square Eyed Jak 

I seriously did a double take when I saw this pro sports game just turn into a fps all of a sudden. Like just imagine playing Doom Eternal and at the end you had to beat the final boss in a skateboarding competition.

Best final level in any game ever. Sorry, but did you just talk shit about Iggy Pop’s “The Passenger” in the intro? Them’s fighting words!

In a different universe: Me: *Beats THPS3* Also Me: *”Why am I in FPS mode?”*

The final boss fight caught me so off guard I can't help thinking it's just so funny. It's the kind of weird I could actually love. We're definitely going to remember this game more than any other Hawktober O2 title we have seen so far, no matter whether it's for the best or for the worst.

it was an awkward game but I personally really liked it. the music was great and the graphics and animations were really smooth. the soundtrack was also pretty awesome.

I didn't expect a goddamn Tiki final boss battle either. Game turned into fucking Turok all of a sudden, but that's just me when I saw that.

Love how this shows how Activision only puts effort into their successful series like tony hawk, and leaves the rest of the O2 games with little effort and just looks like they were trying to cash in on the Celebrities fame

The more you mention Proving Grounds, the more I really wanna get a used copy on PS3, sticks out to me more when the game had adverts of a new GUN game that was also developed by Neversoft.

11:43 This is like saying you play Resident Evil go around kill zombies and monsters and solve puzzles to progress through the game, but when you get to the final boss, you have to play Dance Dance Revolution to fight the boss, such uncanny concept

The bails at 9:00 makes Mat looks more like he wants to be a pro helicopter than a pro bmx.

This is my childhood game. I enjoyed & loved the soundtrack. I still listen to the songs today. I also liked the cutscenes from the roadtrip. It was a major step up from the original.

Sequels normally improve upon the first game, and while Pro BMX 2 does improve things, its a "one step forward, two steps back" situation. It still would have been nice to see these spin-offs getting improved sequels, but the oversaturation of extreme sports games lead to an untimely demise for the genre.

Can someone PLEASE make these levels in THPS 1+2?? They would be great in a skateboarding setting 🔥🔥

That is seriously the end to a BMX game. wow Instead why not just make a giant possessed BMX that turned against Mat, where you have to destroy it, part by part by throwing explosive wrenches at it

Man I actually had sort of high hopes for this one! I really think that it could have worked in a Tony Hawks Underground setting instead of following the arcade Pro Skater style.

Can't wait for you to cover Dave Mirra freestyle BMX 2, I played the hell out of that game. Mostly the wipeout mode because of the hilarious ragdoll physics and awesome maps , overall great game and worth checking out.

oh, one more thing you never play Aggressive Inline is the same as Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3&4 you got to play this amazing game you do not miss.

Honestly the fact that the final level is an FPS is amazing. Name a twist more shocking. They know why they did and it was brilliant. In spite of all the glaring issues. I loved this game but hated it, probably for all these reasons I couldn’t articulate as a youngin.

i could be biased because i grew up riding bmx and playing this game, but i personally love the intro and the clips between levels because it is supposed to have a road trip vibe, it’s perfect in my opinion

One of my favorite action sport game is agressive inline because it had the best progression, it’s similar to thps 4 but the challenges are more creative and you don’t need to speak to npc’s. I just wish it was on a skateboard with the perfect thps controls

I bought my mums old OG Xbox, and this game was included among others, and being a Tony Hawk's game fan I was quite excited to give it a go, but two levels in and its been sat on the shelf unplayed since, it's not even mediocre.

Do any of the O2 games use the "Pick and choose" mission structure of 4? Probably not but the Hoffman series looks like it really needed From the developers of Cars on PS2 comes the only sequel in the O2 lineup... which makes me wonder just how far in development Shaun Palmer 2 was in development before it got canned...

P.S.: Well, actually, i was just yesterday bragging to both my best friends that my favorite Aussie RU-vidr actually read and took the time to like my comment. It's so fucking nice to know that I could show someone that they actually made my days better with their work, even being in the literal opposite place in the globe (but we all know that the south hemisphere is doper than the north. We got crops and shit for weeks, SOOOOOON)

I feel like you missed the point with the videos and theme of this game, the game is based on a real road trip these guys all took, each level is a location they visited, and the videos you unlock show you what they got up to in that city or town. I actually always really liked this aspect of the game as it gave a lot more context to where you were going and what you were doing, as opposed to the early Pro Skater games where you bounce around from level to level without much explanation. The intro to the game was always one of my favourites as a kid too, Iggy Pop's "The Passenger" really sets the tone of the game, which is all about taking a cross country road trip with the boys. I actually went on a skatepark tour with my friends as a kid, driving across the state visiting all the different parks and I remember thinking about this game a lot during that trip!

Does anyone remember BMX XXX? It's probably shit but I had a lot of fun playing this with my friend back in the day. We were actually riding bmx bikes in real life so we kinda did a game in a game thing - one of us did a combo line in a specific place and the other one had to repeat it. Great times :D

One of my biggest gripes with this game is that I never knew how to do any of the tricks. I don't recall there ever being a trick list in-game and I didn't have the game manual either. When I tried looking up stuff on the internet, nothing would come up. I never knew how to do special tricks or anything and it made the game a lot more difficult than it probably should've been.

I’d say this game should get at least a 5/10 because some of the level design was good and it can be fun in multiplayer definitely the best 02 spin-off game

Wakeboarding unleashed to me was the best sport spinoff of the O2 series. I hope Jak agrees when he gets to it.
