After our uncomfortable overnight stay at Dog Beach Island, we decide to take our Regal XO through the back channel of the ICW (Intra Coastal Waterway ) from Lovers Key through Matanzas pass and on to Fort Myers Beach. This back channel is a great way to avoid rough weather on the Gulf side and passes numerous waterfront marinas and restaurants like Junkanoo and Snook Bight Marina. We also get to see a number of derelict and fishing boats, stop for an early morning dock and dine and check out some really cool boats like a new Bennetau Antares 11 and an old military PT boat. Join us as we complete our circumnavigate Estero Island on our way back to Cape Coral in SW Florida.

Here is some information on PTF26 "Liberty". It was originally a PT boat used in Vietnam war. The Sea Scouts picked it up in surplus and it was used by the Sea Scouts in Sacramento, CA. It was an all girl crew. I took a cruise on it up the Sacramento River. At the time it was for sale. That was about 10 years ago. I knew it was sold but did not know where it went. I do not know how it got to FL (cruised or by truck). When I was on it, there was a 50 caliber (unusable) aft of the stack. It was a great Sea Scout boat.

That’s some great info! Thanks. I’m curious how it got here too. And who owns it.

It's nice they allowed pets there at the restaurant outside. We would bring his doggie blanket when we went to restaurant. I hope he was good for you while there!

I had no problem hearing each of them. Maybe you have a loose nut on your monitor?..... I'm a first time commenter and long time watcher. I've been watching now for about year and a half. I wanted to say how much I've enjoyed watching your channel. The episode of "Happy Ours" in the neighbors backyard after the hurricane caught my eye and I've gone back and watched all the episodes from NY down. I've particularly enjoyed your maintenance episodes and how you've taken on and tackled the problems with grace and class that all of us boaters come across. Tom has a great voice and and is one of the best you tube channels as far boating knowledge and articulate speaking with good self humor IMO. I would have thought in his prior career he was in broadcasting or a local news anchor. Great editing (which I understand is where all the time goes in making episodes) and map overlays showing where your going. I highly recommend this channel to my boating friends. Sorry for lengthy first reply, wanted to say also keep an eye on and make sure those lines left on port side while running are very secure. I had one on my bow come loose once and got wrapped in the prop.

Thanks so much for watching our videos and the kind words of support. It’s not perfect by a long shot but I try my hardest to make it informational if not enjoyable.

Nice video. Forget comments about the wind noise. Love the local knowledge. This is our boating playground, and I can’t wait to be back down there in August when our house is finished. Been to that restaurant several times and loved it as well.

Stop in at Bonita Bills on your way back or out next time, They have put some docks back in and its always been our favorite go to waterfront bar. We have done pretty much all your Cape trips on our 17" Scout, we have a 39 Mainship in NY that we live on and travel on in the summer. Doing a 600 mile trip this summer from Buffalo to the 1000 Islands and back. We love Cape Coral, been here 9 years now, but still love the summer get away on our trawler up north.

We followed that route a few weeks ago via Big Carlos Pass. I was hesitant to do so looking at the charts, but took it slow as I was unfamiliar. We also stopped at Junkanoo for lunch. That’s a beautiful marina and the dock hands were super nice. Have you been to Boca Grande Marina? We’d like to head up there soon and rent a golf cart for the day to explore Boca Grande. The dockmaster’s office recommended doing so after Memorial Day as they are less busy. Looking forward to watching your Florida Loop!

What a trip! You have alot of experience on that boat now, could you let us know the pros and cons of the regal. Also if you like the Beneteau Antares 11 check out the 12
@AdventuresofHappyOurs
@AdventuresofHappyOurs Месяц назад
The 12 is amazing but way out of our price range! After having the Meridian so long the Regal is tight for us overnight but doable. I think they could have redesigned the cockpit seating better for more comfortable bench seating on port side. I like the space in the mid cabin but a little difficult to get out of. Maybe a flip up or folding stair. Otherwise it’s at a great boat. I love the room in the bilge and the outboard.

can't watch due to your wind buffeting noise! If you won't get a better microphone I'll be forced to unsubscribe!
@AdventuresofHappyOurs
@AdventuresofHappyOurs Месяц назад
We go to great lengths to edit out as much buffeting as we can and use a wind cancelling microphone often. But it’s a boat, and on some very windy days a little is unavoidable. Sometimes your speakers may amplify the wind noise more than others which is why some subscribers don’t have a problem with it and some do.
