@@HOOKEDFishingChannel no f1s but I had 85lb of carp on maggot next to a peg 6-8 lazzy 0.8 bottom if it was summer I don't think I'd have got them in biggest was 13lb mirror all on F1 short kits 🤣
@@HOOKEDFishingChannel my match is tomorrow there I was going to fish today's open but the lake tomorrow's open is on I've never fished today was a test run so to speak , if the water was warmer I don't think I'd have got them in especially the last one I could have gone water skiing 👍 I'll let you know tomorrow ,no doubt tomorrow will be nothing like today as per usual fishing this time of year
I am from mexborough, this stretch at Kilnhurst seems a lot harder than the either the Kilnhurst water at Mexborough from where Lidl is to the Top lock at the old Ferryboat and the Rotherham AA water that you drive over leaving Mexborough.Indeed Alan Scotthorne has a YT vid on fishing the Mexborough canal,he sacks up .
42:09 I know how you feel here man, questioning yourself as a fisherman and your techniques at times where the going gets hard. But it's those few days that make so many others well worth it. Love from Australia brother best of luck next time
Yes that's the absolute worst. Stuart had a landing net pole covered in it last year, it was literally dripping off the handle, made me feel sick so I always check the area when setting up.
Been fishing the Mexborough stretch this Summer with some cracking nets of roach but it "switched off" completely two weeks ago. Not fished the Croda stretch for a couple of seasons but had some good days with the 5mtr whip and dead reds over groundbait.
Maybe they've moved into their winter quarters now we all had a really good day on the Croda section fishing the 5m line on a bitterly cold day back end of last year. I couldn't feel my fingers or out bait on the hook but still managed 9lb, would have been a lot more if I could have moved my digits ❄️
@@HOOKEDFishingChannel That's true John. I was showing my mate some photos just yesterday from peg 61 in mid Nov 2018. Probably 15lbs that included ten big roach.
Cheers bud, it was tough that day, took me a while to face up to making the video. That's real fishing, hard most of the time but it makes the good days so much better 😜
Had a few pegs like that lately can’t do any thing right. I remember a few names there wonder if they remember me jimmy whitmore. Lived at swinton. Fished at bakers pond matches years ago. Jim whitmore
When I match fished, anglers up north always would catch on hemp even in the cold, strange you feed it but did not fish it, think your missing out in that warm water? 😱
Hemp fishing was discounted in practice, if you haven't seen it, check out the video I made of that session here. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vkY38LxzGgs.html. It was just one of those days when they switched off completely, other than searching for odd fish on the far side shelf, I doubt any other bait would have worked. There's some talented anglers amongst this bunch who struggled to catch anything at all. 🤷♀️
Except for Mick to my right, nobody else did. It was something that had been tried in practice by others with limited success so rightly or wrongly I'd discounted it. I won't go without at least a tip rod in future.
@@HOOKEDFishingChannel are you sure mate as ive just looked for it on google maps and found the crowcroft lane but its not south yorks navigation canal its a totally different one that comes west from southfield res ?
Sorry bud got my videos mixed up, I get a lot of messages on them. Entry to the SYN is via Carlisle Street. There's a barrier for which you'll need a key. Info is available at ravenfieldponds.co.uk
No I think it's available seperately, much cheaper. Taken from the link I sent you: Kilnhurst DAA waters Membership of Ravenfield Ponds AC gives automatic membership of Kilnhurst and District, however a further key is required to access all of the Kilnhurst DAA waters - River Don, Bakers Pond and the canal car parks and this one costs £3.00 extra, so please add this cost to the cheque amount should you require one. Note: Membership of the Kilnhurst and District Angling Alliance is available seperately for those wishing to fish just the Don, the canal and Baker’s Pond, please check at the office for details.
I enjoy you vids mate better luck next time 👍 Just wanted to point out that I never see you loose feeding with a catupult and sometimes you draw fish in this way through the noise it makes and through it falling through the layers, fish like roach are not primarily bottom feeders they like to sit just of and intercept bait so a light rig strung out works well with a steady loose feed. The bait has to fall past them and they intercept it when it's right.
Hi Iain, not sure which of my videos you've seen but I do feed with a catapult where appropriate. Check out Southfield..not about the bream video, Kennet and Avon canal match and last week's river Trent match video for 3 examples. I didn't feed by catapult on this occasion as due to the strong tow and depth of the venue you risk your feed being way out of your peg before it settles. An olivette rig will still catch on the drop, particularly in the last 3ft of water. This weekend I was on a deep canal fishing an olivette rig and when the fish came off bottom due to boats they were holding the olivette up.Thanks for watching. Tight Lines 🎣
@@iainclark6210 I appreciate that, but I don't think loose feeding would have been a good idea. At the start of the video, I fed squats in by hand in the shallow water in the edge, they were really towing left, I'd have no idea where loose feed would have landed in 12ft plus of water so the only way would be to feed when it was stood still but they switch off when it's like that as they prefer it running on there. It's hard to feed any additional bait in when you're not getting bites, it would be counter-intuitive. I'd be interested to know if you have tried the strung out rig on there?
@@HOOKEDFishingChannel I've never fished it mate, reminds me of my local stretch of the Nene where you can ball it at start but when they go you can top up and it might work once but it might also kill it, very tricky. Keep the videos coming mate I enjoy your content
Thanks Iain, I'll do my best to keep you entertained. Lots of these natural venues can be moody. The SYN will come into its own now the water is cooling down. Next week's video is on a similar venue but it fishes a lot better 👍
Thanks Reg. I get it wrong sometimes, but I like to keep the footage real, I messed up unshipping etc, it's easy for me to cut this stuff out but hopefully it resonates with those of us who are less than perfect.
