Closing credits from earlier in the run when they ran vertically instead of horizontally. NOTE: No fee plugs because GSN edited them out.

"MATCH GAME '73" was on at 3:30pm(et), before "THE SECRET STORM" appeared at 4- Johnny Olsen usually billboarded what appeared next on the CBS schedule in the early years (after 1974, it was "TATTLETALES"). Dick DeBartolo worked on the original "MATCH GAME" in the '60s, and still contributes to "MAD" magazine. Different "Elin Frankel" here- ELLIE Frankel led the sextet that played on "THE MIKE DOUGLAS SHOW" in the mid-'60s. All music on "MATCH GAME" was "stock", courtesy of Score Productions.

Note Dick DeBartolo's name on the credits. That's the same Dick DeBartolo from MAD Magazine. When he came on board the NBC version of "The Match Game" in 1965, he was the one who added the naughty "spice" to the show's questions with our old friends John and Mary. THe show went from fun to outright hilarious. He came on board "Match Game" to do the same thing, and really expanding on it. DeBartolo never followed "Match Game' to Califorinia, but mailed his material from New York.

Interesting to see how a game show has end credits run through the direction of the x-axis.

Deciphering the fee plugs, I'll guess that there was a Wards catalog gift certificate, Party Tyme cocktail mix (not hard to figure _that_ out), and Piccadilly Circles.

Stay tuned for "Secret Storm" next over most of these CBS stations!

@yaggy9 I agree, I just started watching and "getting" into it on GSN, love this show, was on a decade before my time, but it's so awesome, it sucks because it still shows the late great Gene, Brett and other cast members body language at end of show and you can read the full credits...

@excuseyou77 - though one 1970s nighttime special episode of Hollywood Squares w/ Peter Marshall experimented w/ running their credits horizontally once.

sorry about the typo, meant I love seeing Gene and Brett and all of them, sucks that they squish the ending real small and shoves their promos in all the time

I think Dom Casual is the font for the closing credits.

I always wondered what made the people at MG change the credits from scrolling upwards to scrolling horizontally?

Wasn't Elin Frankel, who was on the show's staff, also the musical director at one time for the Mike Douglas Show? Or was that some other Elin Frankel?

I really hate how GSN now compresses the closing into a tiny window and kill the audio so they can run squeeze in their own promo material. The speed-up mentality of showbiz needs to stop, it cheapens everything it touches. Viva la match game.

Not sure completely as I don't know much about Mike Douglas' show, but I certainly would not rule that out.

Well said -- I always thought a really good closing sequence added to the overall appeal of {a} show. Totally pissed me off around 1999 when all stations stopped doing this on their shows. The daytime soaps had AMAZING closings and they too got squeezed. It sort of seems silly to care, but television lost something so absolutely wonderful when this practice started. I understand why they did it, but it still doesn't make it right.

Some of you may already know this, but Jack and Brett never divorced. They legally separated in 1974, but until Brett died two years ago, they were still husband and wife.
