The episodes with Fannie & Ron Valenti are priceless!! From the week of July 4, 1975. Match Game started out kinda boring, but by 1974-75, they really livened it up!!
That guy in the audience is getting a lot of air time. Was he with one of the contestants? Was he with Vicki? He is very handsome. Wonder what his story is? Wonder what he looks like today? 70 something?
Gene mentioned him in episode #463, (@ ~ 14:30) joking that everybody in audience loved the then-champion's response, except for the guy in the front row. "Do you know him?" Gene asked the champion, who said no. The camera showed him again (the green-shirt man) a couple of times. Elaine remarks "But he's beautiful!" Gene says, "He is cute. But it's my show, remember."
Gene wasn't the star. He was overshadowed by Richard Dawson, Charles N Reilly, and the ever annoying Brett diarrhea of the mouth Somers. Unlike most game shows, this game show was more taken over by some of the panelists rather than the contestants. Probably why he never won the Emmy that he craved🤔
Fannie looked so chezzed off and embarrassed because of Brett in the final two minutes. She looked like she wanted the floor to open up and swallow Brett!
Kit Kats had only been around in the U.S. since 1970, so it would have been much more familiar to children at the time than to most adults. Not surprised that none of them thought of that.
What happened at 18:20? There's an unexplained jump in the action. We didn't get to hear Richard's and Fannie's answers to the George Washington question. Did they say something naughty? Was this show "edited for broadcast"?
Yea, I saw it.. Maybe just a jump in the broadcast signal or something.. I don't think anything naughty was said but I could be wrong.. Kind of like they started to go or cut to a commercial and realize it was too soon. ;0)

Richard managed to win the week giving away 6,500 dollars in head to head and audience match matches with 10 matches for the regulars. Elaine and Fannie both gave away 2,750 dollars in head to head and audience match matches with both having 10 matches.. ;0)
GenKatQltr no she’s just dim.. I’ve watched her in a few episodes and I don’t really like her. Her blonde dumbness seems contrived like she thinks that’s the way for her to act or it’s expected of her. They’ve had cuter funnier blondes in that seat that are delightful. She’s irritating. It’s like she needs a lot of attention.

No, he was called the host for about 200 episodes before they changed it. From what I can tell from reading about him that he was the least ego guy most people knew for the business he was in..
