It's really interesting watching these episodes. Richard is still great, but definitely seems tired from the extra responsibility of doing Family Feud. He is still having fun, and likes most of the people involved, but....he has an issue with the producers....Ira and Mark Goodson himself. They will soon be changing the game, so that Richard isn't always doing the Final Match. I think that along with the questionable judgments that he has witnessed over time has caused him to sour on doing the extra work for this show when he's already got a full time job with Family Feud. Match Game gave him the opportunity to be a game show star, and it has served it's purpose. He will take Family Feud to the top, and his old faithful audience with him. Match Game's loss will be Family Feud's gain.
I thought that the potato "ears" was a given... 🥔👂🤷♀️ Ever since Fannie cut her hair shorter, it's looked so much better than it did there for awhile when it was longer but wouldn't wave as pretty; I LOVE it when she wears flowers, etc., in it, too! 🌼
@@MatchGameProductions, yes, THANK YOU for helping bring joy into my life, as I suffer from multiple autoimmune disorders, depression, & anxiety, just to name a few... 😔🧡😌
I thought of community "building" & community "center"... 🤷♀️ (We have those in our small towns...) I thought of Dan "Rather" & Dan "Blocker", too... 😉
Yep. A missile is a rocket. However, a rocket is not a jet, so they shouldn't have accepted that to begin with. But since they did, missile should have been, too.
True, a rocket carries all of its propellant whereas a jet only carries its fuel and mixes it with ambient air to obtain it's oxygen component. A rocket can go into space but a jet cannot. A missile is any projectile, however, without regard to its propellant or propulsion.
This is episode 20, which is my FAVORITE number, but being episode 1020 is AWESOME because it reminds me of the CB/radio talk: "What's your 10-20?" for "What's your location?"... Lololol!!! 🤪😜😝 I know, I know... I notice the funniest/weirdest things!!!!! 😂🙂🤷♀️🙃🤣
I thought ""Ward, weren't you a little rough on the Beaver last night?" was the filthiest thing ever said on pre-cable TV, until "You might get a little hair out of Fanny"
Yes, if they matched "rocket" with "jet", then they should have matched "missile", too! 🤦♀️ They're all CLOSE ENOUGH for this part of the game when it does NOT have to be an 'exact' match... 🙄
My Q for MG: There was a budding romance in Farmer Brown's melon patch. However Father Melon didn't like his daughter's boyfriend. The boyfriend asked her to run away with him. She replied, "We _____" ... Can't Elope!!!
@@musicloverme3993, your comments always bring a 🙂 to my face, especially on days like today which wasn't a "good" day... 😞 See, I suffer from many autoimmune disorders, depression, & anxiety, getting worse according to my doctors, and I have more "bad" days than "good" days, so anything helps to get through the day, even if just a little bit, if it puts a 🙂 on my face, so... THANK YOU!! 💛💚
It really irks me when they (Gene, mostly) get kind of snotty with a contestant and act like the person is a complete rube. "Have you ever BEEN in a delicatessen?" for example. I've been in several places throughout the US where the delicatessens had pizza (New York style, no less) among the other things Gene and Brett apparently knew back in their respective heydays. Argh!
I strongly agree with your point about the way Gene sometimes spoke to contestants, but I'd also put good money on there having been only a tiny, tiny, tiny percentage of delicatessens that sold pizza in 1977 and before. In 1977, I don't recall that the term "New York-style pizza" even existed -- definitely not nationally.
Many on the panel spent a lot of time in New York City. So they had a common understanding of what a deli was and what it sold. I'm for a small town in Iowa. We had a deli but it sold vastly differently products than NYC. I felt sorry for the contestants who didn't know what a New York deli was about.
You'd think they would have spoken to Brett Somers about holding up the game always asking to repeat the questing and stalling when writing stuff down. Just annoying as hell. I know it's widely accepted that they did a lot of drinking on the show, but still......
Always makes me mad when the celebrity matches them for 500 then they screw them n took Richard he ain't the only one that's why I loved it when the wheel came out
Has anyone seen the episode that Betty is talking about at the end of the video at 2:50? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bEZkCnTKGW4.html
H/H match update and End-of-Week Recap: ... ~~~Today's Action: Our champion easily achieves her fourth victory. *Today's audience match question: "Community ________"* (My thoughts: Chest, Watch, Property) The celebs: Richard (Property), Charles (Chest), Anson (Project) The choice: Chest The answers: Project, Property, Chest This is our champion's fourth go at the H/H. She picked Richard all three times previously (they matched once, the second time). On her first go, she took Brett's suggestion for $500 but chose Richard anyway, so I imagine that she'll choose him again despite taking Charles's answer for the win today. Yes, once again undaunted by the fact that Richard has only matched 3 of his last 14 attempts, she chooses him without hesitation. This is now King Richard's 14th consecutive play, and he's been chosen 142 of the past 156 times. (Charles answered five of the remaining questions, Fannie took three, and Rosemary Forsyth, Nipsey Russell, Meg Bennett, Scoey Mitchell, Brett, and Trish Stewart got one each.) Stats: Richard has matched 83 of his 197 most recent attempts (42.1%), 66 of his last 154 attempts (42.9%), 46 of his last 104 attempts (44.2%), 22 of his last 57 attempts (38.6%), and 3 of his last 14 attempts (21.4%). His overall success rate is *41.7%* and this is his 675th attempt so far. For the sake of comparison: Charles has matched 33 of his 68 attempts (48.5%), Fannie has matched 14 of her 29 attempts (48.3%), Brett has matched 29 of her 69 attempts (42.0%), Richard has matched 281 of his 674 attempts (41.7%), and Mary Ann has matched one of her five attempts (20%). Anson hasn't had a shot at a H/H question yet. *Today's H/H question: "Dan________"* (My first thought was Dan Rather. He famously reported from Dallas when President Kennedy was shot. I'm also thinking of Dan Aykroyd who helped launch SNL in 1975, but I doubt Richard would think of him. I'm really at a loss as the name questions are tough due to the large gap in years between then and now. I'll say Mr. Rather.) Once again, no one seems terribly thrilled by today's question. The champion looks almost pained again. Richard is looking to Mary Ann for inspiration and then scratching his head. As he finally writes with pursed lips, he glances over at Fannie and seems to finish one card, but then he keeps on writing (a different card?) for several seconds before filing his answer. Our champion says, "The first thing that came to my mind was an old actor that I've always liked, Dan Duryea." Gene seems mildly surprised, and the audience groans before breaking into a polite round of applause. Richard mentions Rowen and Rather, but wrote "Dailey." (An actor whose height of fame seems to have been in the 1950s with a string of musicals he made at 20th Century Fox.) No H/H match today. ~~~The Week that Was: An audience match fail on "Monday" robbed us of a second H/H that day, leaving us with five questions for the week, but only one match: Richard 1/5 Recapping this week's panelists: *Richard* had his third consecutive sub-par week, matching one out of five attempts, and his overall average slipped from 41.8% to 41.6%, a bit further behind Brett. *Charles* didn't play the H/H again for a second week in a row, holding on to his great 48.5% accuracy. *Brett* sat out for her seventh consecutive week as far as the H/H, holding steady with a good 42.0% H/H accuracy rating. *Fannie* Flagg finished her 62nd week of 90, her terrific track record holds steady at 48.3% (14 wins in 29 attempts). *Mary Ann* Mobley completed her 9th week of 10, without another shot at a head-to-head question. Her stats sit at 1 match in 5 attempts. *Anson* Williams has now completed his second and final week, "retiring" as a Match Game panelist without ever having a shot at the H/H match. ~~~Looking ahead to next week: *Note: Sadly, there is a string of 7 missing episodes spanning numbers 1024-1030, so this means that next week is incomplete, with only the first three episodes available...* Here are the faces we'll see joining our three stalwart regulars for the abbreviated week to come: -----After one week off, semi-regular Joyce Bulifant will return for her 29th week of 38. Her H/H track record is an impressive 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). -----Gary Burghoff will return (in the first seat again) for his 36th week (of 43 total). Gary last participated in episodes 861-865, so he's been away for a while. Although he's only been chosen for the H/H 7 times, he's matched 5 of them, giving him an admirable 71.4% success rate and a spot near the top of the leader board. -----Last but not least, Eva Gabor will rejoin the panel for her second week (of 5 total). Eva made her Match Game debut in episodes 926-930, and wasn't chosen for a H/H question yet. ~~~Finally, here's our updated leader board showing the 11 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy: (Note: An asterisk before a celebrity's name signifies that she has "retired" from the show and her H/H stats are now complete.) (Note: For tied scores, I consider the one with the greater number of matches to be higher; if the matches are equal, the celeb who first achieved that score goes on top.) Orson Bean - 100% (4 wins in 4 attempts). TIE: (*)Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). TIE: Joyce Bulifant - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). Gary Burghoff - 71.4% (5 wins in 7 attempts). Betty - 50.0% (19 wins in 38 attempts). Charles - 48.5% (33 wins in 68 attempts). Fannie - 48.3% (14 wins in 29 attempts). Jo Ann Pflug - 44.4% (8 wins in 18 attempts). Brett - 42.0% (29 wins in 69 attempts). Richard - 41.6% (281 wins in 675 attempts). Bert Convy - 33.3% (5 wins in 15 attempts). *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 1020, excluding the lost/missing/damaged episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325, 645, and 910. (As per MatchGameProductions, these episodes "are nowhere to be found and also aren't in the Goodson/Todman Library. Sadly, looks like they are lost forever!") -- Also, note that episode 849 was never produced. Additionally, these stats do, however, include the H/H results of missing episode 968 as those results were revealed in episode 969.
