Bowzer eventually washed the grease out of his hair, traded the leather for a shirt and tie with a sweater and a Blazer and joined Gene R. as his regular name, Jon Bauman, as co-host of the Match Game - Hollywood Squares hour

As a long-time former resident of Pittsburgh PA and a life-long auto enthusiast, it was cool to see the auto mechanic from Pittsburgh win the game!

@@joeambrose3260 That's not a handstand. That's a back flip. A handstand is stationary.

H/H match update for episode 1389: ... ~~~Today's action: The prior episode ended in a rush with the champion's defeat. He'd won one game and $10,600 with his H/H match with Bob Barker. Today we start with the new champ's first Super-Match (after Brianne's brief gymnastics demo, which was a backflip, not a cartwheel). *Today's (first) audience match question: "Way Down________"* My thoughts: Yonder (in the paw-paw patch), South, New Orleans The celebs: Bob (Yonder), Charles (Upon the Swanee River), Bowzer (South) - I don't recall seeing a recent champion so intent and deliberate on selecting three stars. But in the end, she chose the same ones that the prior champion had picked! The choice: Upon the Swanee River The answers: Upon the Swannee River, South, Yonder It's backflippin' Brianne! No double. Stats: This is Brianne's first H/H question (if you don't count the three she did as a contestant: she matched with Brett and Betty, missing with Charles, so she was 2 for 3 during her reign). *Today's H/H question: "_______Cement"* (Wet. Nothing else comes to mind.) Brianne writes something that looks longer than "Wet." She looks over at Bob, sighs, and writes a second answer. She looks satisfied, then breaks up laughing, looking up at Charles and/or Brett. I didn't hear what was said. Ding. The champ is ready with the predicted answer. The audience response is a 9 or 10. Yes, this must have been an easy one, since we all agreed. Brianne Leary becomes the 63rd MG celebrity to score a head-to-head match! ~~~~~ Our newly crowned champion misses the fairly obvious definitive answer on her second-round question and goes down to defeat after winning the one game and $1,200 today. *Today's (second) audience match question: "Soft as a________"* My thoughts: Baby's Behind/Bottom, Cloud, Kitten The celebs: Bowzer (Pillow), Charles (Baby's Cheek), Joyce (Kitten - she also corrects Charles by saying it's a baby's "bottom.") The choice: Kitten (Huh. When I said that, it was out of desperation - I didn't really think it'd be up there, but nothing else came to me.) The answers: Pillow, Baby's Behind, Kitten - Wow. Kudos to Joyce for coming up with the top answer in third position! No time for the Head-to-Head today, stay tuned! ~~~Here's our standing leader board showing the 11 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy: (An asterisk before a celebrity's name signifies that she or he has "retired" from the show and their H/H stats are now complete.) (For tied scores, I consider the one with the greater number of matches to be higher; if the matches are equal, the celeb who first achieved that score goes on top.) Orson Bean - 100% (4 matches in 4 attempts). (*)Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 matches in 4 attempts). Joyce Bulifant - 66.7% (4 matches in 6 attempts). Gary Burghoff - 55.6% (5 matches in 9 attempts). Charles - 48.9% (43 matches in 88 attempts). Fannie - 48.8% (21 matches in 43 attempts). Betty - 47.1% (24 matches in 51 attempts). (*)Jo Ann Pflug - 44.4% (8 matches in 18 attempts). (*)Richard - 42.5% (373 matches in 878 attempts). Brett - 41.4% (41 matches in 99 attempts). (*)Bert Convy - 33.3% (5 matches in 15 attempts). *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 1389, excluding the missing/damaged/unavailable episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325, 645, 910, 1024, 1025, 1026, 1027, 1028, 1029, and 1030. (Note: episode 849 was never produced.) These stats do, however, include the H/H results of missing episode 968 as those results were revealed in episode 969. There was no H/H in missing episode 1035, as we learn in 1036. These stats do, however, include results of episodes 1309 through 1317, found on channels other than this one.
