Was there in the North Stand, it was absolutely unbelievable to do it again after Basle. Will never happen again in my lifetime but what a night that was and what a ball in from Downing for Maccarone to finish them off 👏
As a Steaua fan this is the first time after many years that I was able to watch the highlights again. Congratulations to Middlesbrough unfortunately for us our players collapsed under the admirable pressure created by your team.....also amazing passion from the fans

Nu mai pupăm noi o semifinală de cupă europeană nici peste 100 de ani. La ce echipe de club avem nu avem șanse.. Chiar dacă este o amintire urâtă rămâne în sufletul nostru. Am fost foarte aproape de finală.. Totuși a fost o performanță de a ajunge până aici.. Ce echipă am avut și unde am ajuns.. Dacă vreo echipă românească mai prinde grupele Europa league va fii o performanță. :(

@@bogdanioan5035 S-a repetat coșmarul cu Rosenberg 05/06 champions league middlesborough era tare la vremea aia. 2 meciuri câștigate cu goluri din deplasare + meciul asta și cu basel. E vina noastră ca nu am învățat de la meciul cu basel pentru ca Inca pluteam ca am bătut RRapidul . Oricum in următorul sezon Sevilla ne-a învins(tot au câștigat cupa uefa) deci nu cred ca câștigam cupa… cu lotul de atunci. Din sezoanele 07/08&08/09 a început declinul
Will always remember listening to this game on the car radio when I was 8. We were picking family up from a show, so I just stayed in the car, put the seat all the way down and listened to the what I presume was 5 live commentators celebrating as each Boro goal happened! Not even a Middlesbrough fan or anywhere near the area (South-West England) but will always treasure it as one of my first really clear football fan memories :)
If I am ever feeling low I re-watch this match plus the Basel match & all is good again!!!....I used to work the door at the players lounge on the West Stand Upper & had the pleasure to meet several players, managers, press etc....Bernie & Ali were always the last out so I could then go home when they left but they were always superb to talk to along with Eric Paylor, an absolute joy to chat to, win, lose or draw. Ali ALWAYS took time to chat to me & Arthur on the door as did Bernie and it is so sad to have lost him to cancer at a very young age, 56. Also, our man mountain Ugo Ehiogu was also taken away from us way too soon at the age of 44. So in success we remember those supreme Boro legends & may they both R.I.P. ...UTFB!!!

I am from Romania..at that time we had great players, not like now..Even now, after 16 years, I still can’t believe that Steaua Bucharest lost a unique chance of going to the final..we had an awful goalkeeper..that guy literally ruined all!! Steaua Bucharest had a big chance to win the trophy, just like it did in 86’ when it won the Champions League Trophy…

The best Boro match I've seen, really was an emotional time, and is the only time a game of football has left me in tears 😭 absolutely unforgettable and Sir Ali giving it "what for" is the icing on the cake as they say!!!!! R.I.P. Ali (A True Boro Legend) gone but never forgotten UTB
First time I've been able to watch this since April 27th 2006. It was the last game of football my dad watched. He died at 7am the morning after in The Butterwick Hospice in Stockton. Great night though.

I was there that night with my 2 young sons. I must be the only person there who didn’t see any of Boros goals.. My youngest needed the toilet just before every Boros goals.When Macca scored the fourth we’ d just come out of the toilet making our way up the stairs when the roar rang out. My son was grabbed by a Stewart and thrown up in the air! I was bouncing up and down with joy- at the time all I was bothered about was elaborating the goal..What a night......... Come on the Boro..........
Ali Brownlee was the voice of the whole of Middlesbrough. Many fond memories of my Grandad listening to his commentary on the "wireless" as a kid. The full town went absolutely barmy on this day. '04 - '06 were arguably the best years in Boro's history as a team so far.
That Dracula line was hilarious! xD Crazy that I don't remember as someone who's not a Boro fan ever feeling like this side had lots of goals in them, but they've got Viduka, Hasselbaink, and Yakubu!
You're joking right? Those 3 scored for fun at Boro. Over a hundred goals between them in two consecutive seasons. It's just a shame we couldn't stop the other side scoring too 😂
People say about Liverpool-Milan 2005, Ajax-Tottenham and Liverpool-Barcelona 2019, but they forget about this thriller at the Riverside. Maybe, because of the names of the clubs: just Middlesbrough... But Viduka, Southgate, Downing, Schwarzer and others were perfect players!
I will always look back on this night and remember the emotions I went through as an 11 year old them 2 goals went in I was crying the end of the night them immortal words wow what a night and still to this day every weekend and now Wednesday my shirt with pride I still follow utfb

Reading the comments you realise Boro touched a lot of hearts across Europe that night. Simply the best. For me when JFH scored the 3rd I felt it was all on.

10 seconds after Yakubu went in , he stopped the ball with his hand like a keeper at dica’s shot. The English television never gave that replay. The next day a Romanian camera man posted the photo with the handball on the news! reff was 5 only yards away! That’s why we needed VAR, small countries were always robbed by richer countries. But karma made justice in the final ! Where’s boro now? 😂 steaua is Romanian champions again! Only the strong survives boys!
I lost interest in 1960 when I was informed that footie team members didn't always come from our area. 60 years later I'm in tears , partly from what I've missed out on but also a bit of pride in my old home area.

I have to remind myself, did this really happen? Yes, it did. 15 years ago today a tiny town in North East of England played in the final of the UEFA cup! Boro fans are the eternal optimists and I hope, one day, (soon, please!) we can bring the good times back to Teesside. UTB!
