I really enjoy Watergate so I think I will look into getting a copy of Match of the Century. Another good histoical tug of war game is Dual Powers: Revolution 1917.
Paolo Mori’s Dogbof was is the best tog of war game I’ve played. It’s great. Played Caesar and yes it’s good but now that I’ve played it with different people, I tend to loose at it 😂 and I can’t really understand why. And I realised It’s not for me (and the mechanics in Caesar reminds me a bit of Capital Luz 2ed where which I also don’t understand and always lose and can’t understand what). Now Caper Euro is different You know what you’re going for. It’s more strategy. So, I believe that’s it maybe I tend not to do good with much tactical games! Great review
I love Paolo morri games (caesar seige rome in 20 min). The Match of Century looks interesting- feels somewhat like Air Land and Sea. Need to check out Caper Europe too.
I also enjoy P Mori designs - we disagreed on "Ur", however - old abstract Civ game, seems goal setting is too opaque or game is too quirky for your taste.
Hello Chairman, tug of war is the same mechanism of Mandala? playing cards in any of the common spots to get mayorities? If so, do you think both of them overlap with Mandala in a small Game collection? Which one of both feel more different to Mandala? Thank you
Majorities are different from tug of war. Tug of war is usually where you try to move one piece over a line to your side. This is present in 7 Wonders Duel, Watergate and also here in Match of the Centuries.
Mandala does feel a little bit like a tug-of-war game but I wouldn't classify it as such. There's definitely room in a collection for all 3 as they feel completely different in my opinion
