The two games shown in Match of the Day on 6th October 1984 - Aston Villa v Manchester United and Nottingham Forest v Stoke City. Unfortunately, this edit of the original broadcast does not contain any studio footage etc.
Football Heaven, Thanks for two good games. Didier Six the first Frenchman to play in top-flight English football and good contest between Forest and Stoke.
Don’t know why big Ron didn’t start with Norman whiteside. His physical presence would have helped in that game. We had good ball players back then but if robbo wasn’t playing we would get outdone physically in the midfield. Typical United in the league in the 80’s!!
Yes, plenty of promising runs were stopped with many of Robbo's injuries, forcing stretches of time out of the team, we couldn't keep up the momentum without our Talisman.
I think villa experienced one of the biggest falls in football in the 80’s. European cup winners to division 2 in 5 seasons was it?? I presume it was a case of players leaving and being replaced by players of not the same quality??
Great programme match of the day but I must say and I'm female , less female commentary they are rubbish and read off a script it's so obvious , keep to netball ladies
