Loved the fact that reigning league champions(and soon to be European champions)Aston Villa's win at Southampton was described as a "shock" win by Bob Wilson!!!

Wogan would a few weeks later be the Parkinson replacement

It is odd that people forget the run of Wogan's chat show on Saturdays during 82/83/84 and instead think that the three nights from February 1985 was when it all began.

@jmxtvarchive9064 Wogan's first TV run - in the chat-show format, at any rate - sounds fascinating, experimental. It was on Thursday nights in May '82 - right in the middle of the Falklands War - and he had Paula Yates as a co-host! It was adjudged enough of a success to give him the old Parkinson slot on Saturdays from Jan '83. Marcus Plantin, the show's producer, felt Terry worked better in that prerecorded-and-edited form, rather than the 3-nights-a-week-live format that followed, but he himself took up an executive position at LWT around that time, anyway.
