MATCHBOX Restoration Y4 Sentinel Steam Waggon 1956

This little model of a 'Sentinel Steam Waggon' is a little beauty !
Made around 1956 to 1960, it has an amazing amount of detail built into it for such a small toy.
In it's day, the Sentinel Steam Waggon was a powerful work horse with a top speed of nearly 100 kph and a load capacity of 7 tons!
The word 'Waggon' is an old English word with the same meaning of the modern day word 'Wagon'. They both mean, "a vehicle used for transporting goods or another specified purpose". The older word, with two 'G's is slowly dissapearing from our modern day language.
I encourage viewers to pause the video early on when you can compare the model with photographs of real privately owned 'Sentinels' and marvel at how close the Matchbox/Lesneys toy version is to the real thing.

One of the things I really like about you, Marty, is that you keep your videos real. What I mean by that, is that you don't make your viewers feel they can't do what you do. Sure, every so often, you'll get supplies or cars to restore donated to you, but you don't present your videos as though everything you have has been given to you, like some restoration channels do. You say things like "I bought this" or "I built this", and at least to me, that makes a huge difference(you even tell us when you mess up at times). You use supplies any person can buy, and they don't need a big budget to get them. That's why I gave up on a lot of other channels, they get everything handed to them and they shove that attitude in your face. Thank you very much for posting interesting content and for being honest and humble in your approach. I appreciate it very much.

@@MartysMatchboxMakeovers Marty, any chance that we could get a few videos of the daily life of Kevin?? We all so truly love him so much! He’s “koaladorable”. We love his quirky, funny, zany personality and his hilarious misadventures!! Please give him a huge hug from us, & tell him we love him, because he brings life, love, & laughter into our days when we need him to…

Excellent work again, Marty. These ancient models are very simple but incredibly detailed. I've read a lot about Australian engineering, but.... Paint stripping, polishing, priming and repainting in no time at all.... priceless 😉👍🏼🤣 Seriously... What looks so easy here is hard work and takes days (now and then). BTW... KEVIN has, in the past, proven often enough that he's not.... let's say koalafied to drive a truck 🤣 I hope he remained uninjured and dedicates himself to flying again.... (Yup, I still can't forget the legendary "air-raid" to this day. Hope you don't get any more nightmares about eggs by now...😆🤣) All in all... right up my alley 😃 Many a thanks for sharing 🙏🏼, clearly one, no both thumbs up from me for this 👍🏼👍🏼 To you, Julie and the whole team behind the scene a bonza weekend and stay safe and sound. Keep up the good work, mate 😁 Greetings from the DCcoB at the lighthouse end of the Elbe River and Go KEVIN 🐨 😎👍🏼🇦🇺🍻🇩🇪👍🏼🤠

Love it Marty , my dad drove one of these when he was young . He had a wee job for a Baker, the baker would drive to Stirling ( Scotland ) and get too drunk to drive and my dad had to drive him home . At the time he was only 10 or12 lol , probably about 1930. Cheers Marty for bringing back memories.

Holding the axle with a pair of needle nosed pliers would help considerably in grinding down those crimped sides... Just saying. Many paints need to be thinned. Some are "meant" to be thinned. I am a modeler & a sign painter. I rarely come upon any paint that doesn't need tweaking one way or the other. One shot enamels for signs is a marvelous gloss paint line. You have no idea how pleasant it is to have your videos back. Your hobby mixed with your voice & accent along with that slight back ground music is very relaxing. The end photo of Kevin ramming the truck into a tree could be framed to hang on your wall. It has a look to it.

They’re basically wedges, and the amount of force to wedges can apply when being used to clamp is extremely high. It’s like a Bolt or screw and the force they can apply to hold things together because they are basically a ramp wrapped around a cylinder. So, as you said, they are amazing.
