Akki, please make a video about ophthalmology and orthopaedics. Couldn't find match data for Ophthalmology on the NRMP website. Is there a separate match for that?
Thank you so much for this information ♥️ Can I know , If someone becomes a specialist in the USA and then returns to Sri Lanka, can he/she work as a consultant in Sri Lanka or should he/she work as a regular doctor?
I don’t have a clear idea about the path, but there are couple of specialists in Sri Lanka working after USA training in private sector, as specialists- for this you have to get SLMC registration- and fulfill the requirements of speciality boards - doctor who comes with the USA training- if she/ he is not completed internship in SL, must complete one year internship ( I may be wrong - this was the rule last time I checked around 2014) . best place to ask this information is SLMC and speciality board.
To practice in USA , a physician must undergo residency traning in the specility they desired , no matter how experienced they are.. So even a physician is boad certificatied, they have to go through same traning again as a fresh medical school graduate. Consulants can come for fellowships , but they cannot practice in USA . without residency traning . In USA fresh out of medical school applicants have more chance in matching than a person who has board certification elsewhere
we had two friends who are dental doctors from Nepal and Pakistan , I can advise base on their experience , Dental doctor's process is different from medical doctors, Dental doctors have to go to Dental school again in USA - usually it is expensive- my friend had to take a loan of 200K USD loan to pay- her husband was medical doctor so she can apply for a loan base on that salary.( not full years but 2 years as I remember- not sure ) then they should do Integrated National Board Dental Examination (INBDE). it has two parts i think - written and clinical. They also need to do TOEFL . i will try to find youtube videos for you. www.ada.org/en/resources/licensure/licensure-for-the-international-dentists
