That is just a IR Rebrand. Rebuild it your self. I rebuilt 2 of my co-workers and found lack of maintenance. Was failed valve trigger, hammer carrier cracked / gave way, scored the rotor motor. Do exactly what ya said.
When I first got mine, had it rebuilt 4 times in the same year but it’s been rock solid since then. I feel like it’s hit or miss, my raptor is amazing.
Same thing happened to mine only because my air hose had alot of water matco sent it off to get it fixed but they jus gave me a brand new one (newest model)
Remove the 4 screws on the back, clean the junk out of motor vanes with some trans fluid, DO NOT use brake parts cleaner, put er back together. There is no need to send it out for weeks for the rebuilder to do the same thing.
I know you got a open bottle of nissan at sitting around the old dex merc formula basically mix 1 to. 1 for every drop of air tool oil add a drop of dex merc or if you use zep products? Like zep twister or zep 45 use a few sprays of that before the air tool ail atf mix
My raptor had the bolts loosen from impacting. It’s my ball joint gun, can’t fit a 5500 on a 2 post needs to be on the drive on lift. With the press on the ball joint you don’t have much clearance for a big gun so the Matco fits perfectly. Been great just have to tighten those up.
It might be rated for that but it’s not putting that much out for sure. The gen 2 Astro stubby on Amazon $110 blows that thing out of the water, and it’s smaller than
It’s usually the switch for forward reverse that’s fucks up on that model try messin with that forward and Barack a couple times but if that don’t work for long matco should warranty it
That’s one thing I steer away from with an air impact is plastic switches that are known for breaking. I’ve seen it time and time again. I look for one that has a dial on the back.
I have both Matco and Snap On. I’ll just recommend rebuilding it because it’s better than buying brand make a meal to be honest. Matco makes more powerful twerk ones then Snap On does Snap On offers quality in the last little bit longer. That professional opinion I’ve been doing this for two yearsoil, change tire rotation, brakes, and everything
Probably the angle of the wear if the gears inside….the load is different when holding up overhead vs right I front of you. Definitely needs a rebuild and your good to go.
@@FluffyMexicanik if you decide to rebuild it. Then you will have money left vs buying a new tool. That’s the point. New tool means spending more maybe making payments. Rebuilt is a straight fix at a lesser price.
@@Robert-l9veven with oil they still give out. I oil mine every day and run it for 15 seconds to get all the lubricant mixed in before a job is started. The 11 year old IR still has not had any issues compared to my semi new Matco Raptor. Cheap Chinese not buying Matco anymore.
@@Robert-l9v Electric and air are both sold under the power tools banner these days (trucks don’t dedicate much space to air tools). I also listed the only two air impacts SO makes that are worth the money.
Naw, air is superior over electric plus the size of the milwakky is a major fail compared to the stubby pnuematic, m18 batteries are chunky...no thank you, 20 uggas vs 5 uggas, you know better than that, take your own advice and do better
@FluffyMexicanik i usually will get a new one and buy a kit for the old one if available, of course, and fix it, bring it home to use there i always tear down my guns when they fail it's just like a vehicle I want to know why it failed then fix it
