As a tool dealer for many years, I carried a pocket notebook with me and wrote down the things guys wanted to see on the tool boxes and also new tools, colors, etc. I was very involved with sending those notes to my DM and upline. I was successful quite a lot. The squeaky wheel gets the grease.
*MATCO* for the win - great service and support always had good experiences. Their Ratchets are the best as well as screwdrivers along with many other items.
It turns out if you have the best in the business make your stuff for you, to your specifications you will get it right. You pay for customer service and not having to do research with matco. Anyone who hates on them for rebranding are silly, if you don't like it buy the original brand, see how many payments you can get it cut down to and how often they'll run the new tool to you when you break or need it.
@@dakotataylor7909 Everyone now wants to pay like cost for a product. But when it comes to them getting paid they want union pay. That is what it sure seems like - having warranty like you said is worth it and be done.
I have one of these the new 2s boxes in Matco Red and absolutely love it. Bought it first week out. The price is awesome and when I get it paid off....8 years from now ....will get the hutch! 😁
this is hands down the BEST comparison video of these 2 boxes! Geez I'm in the market to gift myself an early xmas present and am stuck between these two boxes. ugh.
My new Matco distributor is a good one. He’s not a Michael by no means yet but he is new and has a huge route. Right after you posted the video about that relay switch set I asked him to get me a set in. He delivered yesterday.
Take 3 to 4 in off locker shelves and add a pull out for long pry bars in the back, shorter to the middle and long extensions in front down to shorter in the middle. About half way down this pull out add a rack for the shorter bars and extensions.Make this rack adjustable up and down and offer it with bar holes, extension holes or both. Place it in the box side of the locker, so that when standing in front of your box with it pulled out you have access to both bars and extensions.
Also, you can get gutsy and drill holes in the top shelf of the box and utilize the gap inside that is between the back of the drawers and the back of the box which has a couple inches in there. The only thing poking out on top would be the pry bar handles showing. As long as there is soft close, the drawers wouldn’t bang too hard on the pry bars when closing your drawers.
my biggest worry was trying to figure out how to find a place to put my long tools like my pry bars and such and having to put all my tools away at the end of the day even if im not done with a job, thankfully my shop closes up at the end of the day
There's no doubt that matco makes the finest toolboxes available, my first big toolbox was a matco. Definitely far sturdier and more durable than snap on or mac
@@KoonTrucking they have that bolt extractor kit in my flyer this month. Look like they'd work real nice on exhaust manifolds you ever use them I'm looking for a nudge to buy em lol
The best thing Matco, snap-on or Cornwall or any of them guys could do. Is design a vertical 4 inch wide shelf with a rack that slides out that can lock onto the side of the current boxes. That way a tech can just buy the new vertical box to lock up extensions and pry bars with out having to look at getting a different box. More people would be apt to buy a small extension box than look at buying an entire new 6-10 k tool box. If I had any intelligence or design experience I would design it and sell it to them guys
My understanding is Matco used to make the boxes for mac and then split away. Always had good boxes. I have some old orange flagship units. A top and a drawer section.. like their quality.
Also… speaking of luck with Milwaukee… I had a drill break and I brought it into a local service center and Milwaukee quoted them 4 weeks for parts! I have to buy a second drill now… won’t be a Milwaukee for sure.
This box would make a lot of sense if you’re working out of a bigger cart and use the main box for overflow. If I was going in and out of it all day that deep second drawer would probably be a deal breaker
Two big ole thumbs up to Michael and his Better-half for the great job they do. Wait a minute...wait a minute let me whack my thumbs with the 9 pound sledge to make them even bigger. From my experience “good enough” is sufficient for my State Government and the Yankee Government!
I like that Michael said that he looks for what he would change on a tool. He isn't talking out of his ass here we see it in the videos he is always saying "i wish they would have done..." and hearing that from a salesman is amazing. He is a tool salesman now but he is still a technician at heart.
Why would you need a wrench drawer in your 2s if your wrenches are in your tool cart? Remember, not so just starting out. Looks to me the new 2s is more for next leg up kind of thing. Great vid.
Bought a 5 series with a add on top drawer and a hutch last year. I'm about to have it paid off. Ask my matco guy last week about the side locker and he tells me they're discontinuing the 5 series. I'm pissed 🤬
@@KoonTrucking oh yeah the box you have is what i wanted. But at the time we did not have a matco dealer. So snappy box is what i got. Similar to your old blue snapoy box you sold recently
@@KoonTrucking maybe that's something for Matco to look at, make the shelves a little shorter. If I were in a shop, I'd appreciate the shelves an inch and a half shorter, so long things can be hung on the back of the doors.
Koon, I do not like the fact that the front lip is gone on the 2S box. I had a cheep box some 30 years ago that had no lip and sockets just keep rolling off.
@@waltkosch That is close to what I did. I made a wooden floor piece than used yard sticks to make a rap around lip. That way I had a work surface and a lip. But to make a box with no lip, just sticks me as wrong, But that is just what I like.
I Know you guys covered the gap issue I just wanted to make sure everyone knows that it wasn’t Hamilton’s fault. He did from what I understood everything he could to fix the gap problem that Clay had with his blue box. Snapon dropped the ball on that one not Hamilton
I’d imagine they don’t want to offer lockers on their 2S because they’ll be cannibalizing sales of their more expensive boxes with more accessories unfortunately.
Is the 2S made in the US? If so, that price point is great. I've always said the best deal is to buy a lightly used box but for $4k you might as well get a new box if it fits your needs.
Its a nice toolbox for sure but for the money those extreme toolboxes are really sweet with the 3 long drawers ontop 1 tall 2 short, I got my sockets, ratchets, extensions up top then put the wrenches in the first short drawer and the 3rd short drawer is sort of a fabrication / oh sh** drawer ... You know what a ugly color box is? FULL ON COPPER OR STAINLESS STEEL Blehhh those are the boxes dealers sell for less than cost after its been on and off the truck for a year LOL
All in what you want. If you look on your local Craigslist you can get a good idea what private parties are asking for them. Obviously a dealer will charge more and you can finance it if needed.
@@KoonTrucking i need a bigger box and mine is blue vein so a color thats discontinued and to me i dont see value in putting money into when mine is also just a smaller one
Makes sense.. technology was leaving toolboxes behind.... Millennials always have their phone.... I can open my house with my phone, I can open and start my car with my phone. Whose going to let me open my toolbox with my phone?
If you’re not first you’re last !.... of wait he was high when he said that “You can be second, you can be third, you can be fourth, hell you can even be fifth”
