The level of honesty in the review always sets this channel apart from many others. On the other hand I think the cable guard is quite a significant innovation. The improvement from v3 to vxr is IMO bigger than from vxr to vertix
I think the angled roller sounds like it will do more than it actually does. We have set up 6 or 7 of them and they aren't any easier or harder to tune than the VXR. Trent is a really good and experienced shooter and he hasn't noticed any difference in the way it aims or in accuracy. Being left handed i haven't been able to get a good feel for it yet because all we have it right handed bows. That being said, i trust my co workers opinion.
I agree, I also scratch my head when EVERY YEAR people expect ground breaking innovation and change, when archery is close to the peak, and almost as good as it will ever probably get....small changes are all we can and should expect....and even small improvements, are still improvements....
I really appreciate you doing these review at 28in also. So many just show 29 or 30in and it’s nice to see something at my draw length and to see the efficiency difference between the lengths.
What is the actual draw length on the 30” mod? Still 1/2” over? If so, deduct about 5 more FPS and actual ibo is mid to upper 320s I’m guessing. Especially if it’s set to exactly 70#.
Hi!!! I would like to ask something, I have a new set of ABB cables, and string on my V3 27, and the bottom cam rubbing against the yoke cable. The cam leaning too much. How can I fix it? Thank you so much for your advice and help. Kind regards Robert.
@@jasonbrady7861 There’s something wrong with me I just found and bought another Halon 32. So the first one I bought I’m going to give to my nephew to use.
Upgraded to the VXR this year and went back to the Vertix after four weeks because I just feel a lot more confident with it. Seems like I won’t have to upgrade in 2021 either 😉
@@Life-of-Bluegrass_Music Here we are four months later and my V3 31 just came in. That was too long of a wait. I love it. So glad I went with the 31 My Triax is now my back up
I have a V3 31” and it seems like I have less clearance for my vanes. I run the arrow through the center of the berger button hole and nock high 1/16” and have to turn my nocks on my arrow to get it to clear the rollers. If I run my arrow under the berger hole then yes it provides more clearance than the VXR.
Its an upgraded VXR and there is nothing wrong with that. I shoot A Hoyt Rx4 and it’s an upgraded RX3. People kind of crap on these bow companies these last 2 years for not coming out with anything revolutionary but the bow companies are doing something great and very smart. When you have a product that’s a really successful platform like the VXR or the Rx4 the smart thing to do is build on an all ready established and successful platform. The worst thing you can do is try to change things. If its awesome just try and make it more awesome. Bow companies putting out similar bows the next year is not a result in lack of innovation, it’s a testament to how good these bows are now and that they are so good that’s it’s hard to make massive improvements.
Do you know if the oval peep sight on the Option Archery website is the latest & greatest updated version? I thought a while back you mentioned there was an earlier version but the first version was causing string wear?
Excellent video. One question, I notice on a lot of videos right as the cams break over, there is a "Tick" sound. What is that? I hear it over and over.
@@InsideOutPrecision Thanks for the quick reply. Is there a way to silence that at all? I have a V3 on the way, and I could see a black bear, or WT picking that sound up instantly when drawing. Once again, thanks for your excellent videos! They are money!
Awesome review as always. So, shooting a hoyt powermax now at 70lbs with an hha optimizer single pin. Just started archery in January but was thinking about making the jump to a flagship bow. Thinking about prime black 3 at 80lbs, or mathews v3 or vxr at 75lbs. Want a bow above 30 inches and know I could save money with the prime. Any suggestions?
Also, you didn’t mention the redesigned riser. Yes the limp pockets are different and the lower damper is smaller and the frame around it is thinner. The V3 I did see in store had the SCS already on it. Not sure if Mathews threw them on or the bow shop. Would be cool if they just gave us those with the VXR. Not worth the $60 to put them on afterwards
I know you said you probably wouldnt upgrade from VXR but how bout from your Traverse? Also, did you mention which let off % it had? Was wondering how much speed loss between the 80 and 85.
I'm still gonna shoot my Traverse. The VXR is a great bow, but wasn't as comfortable as the Traverse, and the new V3 us more less a VXR with an angled roller guard. The test was with 85% mods. Geneally there's a 3-5 fps difference
I shoot right handed bows all the time hoyt is they only one that I cant due to the riser! And I don't draw them right handed I shot them left handed just like my left handed bows I own. Good review also!
Well, just when I had crossed this one off the list, you tell me that it weighs 4 oz less than advertised! Granted, it's no Mach 1, but 4.25 sure is better than...well, all the other CC bows 👍🏼
Two questions; 1). Have you had a chance to check out and test the Sanlida archery Dragon x8? 2). Do you work at The Bow Rack? I like your videos and the way you present things and would think about making a trip up there to have you help me tune my bow so I know it would be done properly.
@@InsideOutPrecision I am planning a road trip for sometime in the next few months just to get out that way, the bow shop here didn't do anything to fix my bow they just moved the sight all the way down along with all the pins except for the 20 yard pin which was in the center of the sight. So I have to start from the beginning again.
Hey, enjoy watching your videos even though sometimes I’m lost at what your talking about because I’m new to bow hunting and these are a bit more advanced than me at the moment lol. I recently changed the mods on my Hoyt Nitrum Turbo at the pro shop and now when i draw back i have to hold the bow from going instead of it settling a bit, I’m sure with time I’ll be able to build up strength to easily hold it but at the moment im a bit shaky. Is this common??
I put ABB strings on my VXR 31.5 and shoot a 515 grain arrow without monkey tails and got 298 FPS... I have a 30” draw and 65lb mods and I’m weighing the draw at 69lbs... something isn’t adding up with the V3 speeds you’re getting
I think your reviews are the most honest on RU-vid. I’m still catching my breath putting on GAS Ghost XV and the UV Beereal grip on the VXR31.5. My back up is the Traverse, which i still love. Are you sticking with the Traverse?
Hard to get lefty bows and accessories especially here in Australia, apparently statistics say less than 10%of the archery community are left handed, this goes off of sales. When a lefty walks in to buy a bow we have to just accept what is available and a lot of us will just not bother buying a crap bow just because its left-hand, in reality there are tons of leftys and we don't really get into archery much or buy much because there is just not enough available. Archery companies pull ya finger out and make more lefty gear, I know a lot of people who started left and where forced to go right because dealers convinced them to shoot right and they never achieve full potential and I know others who have always shot right hand and changed to left and are a way better shot. I get over this eye dominance bullshit just to shoot a bow that dealers tell you just so you will buy a right hand bow. I shoot a pistol holding it with my right hand and both eyes open and that is right handed but if I do the same with a bow I'm told I'm left hand, makes no sense. Make more lefty gear companies.
Great review, appreciate all the arrows and chrono speeds at different draw lengths. It’s irritating when reviews don’t do a 30/70/350 review. Is the V3 riser the same length as the VXR? Is the throat of the grip slightly higher, on the V3 compared to the VXR? Thanks
thinner limbs ....and much more movement with said limbs causing more movement ,which means more volume( sound),& more vibration when shot,,,,,,so to fix this they needed a new dampner!..I' think i'll stick with the vxr!.....Also with more movement it isn't just higher sound, but anything that moves (More) during the shot (the more inaccurate it will be) all things being equal and having to figure out ways to tame this inevitable outcome!
I shoot 60 lbs at 30 inches. I'm concerned about this new tech that allows such a huge range of draw weight at the cam. My concern would be that they had to make sacrifices at various draw weights. For instance, did they optimize overall for a 70 lbs draw and then the 60 lbs mod takes a speed penalty (won't shoot as fast as it would with a dedicated 60 lbs cam). I don't know of anyone that wants to change weights on their bows so much.
@@InsideOutPrecision Thanks for the reply. Has anyone to your knowledge done this experiment? (change weight mods and keep the grains of arrow per pound of draw the same and look for anomalies)
I was looking for a new bow and as you said you were out of the 28 inch mode this is way I didn't buy Mathews. They have amazing looking bow with solid performance but on the end if you have to wait weeks at the time to get the module that you need and you could never test what you are buying since it is almost never available in left hand in any store it is really not worth the extra 5 or 10 feed per second . For me Mathews biggest failure as a bow manufacture is not that they use modules but the fact for over 1000 $ they only ship the bow with one module and then the potential customer has to wait and wait for the correct module and guess if it will fit or not. If you want to be top of the line manufacture with a top $ price tag add a set of modules with the bow charge extra 200 $ and finish the story. We all know that 2 small pieces of CNC machined aluminum do not cost 75 $ and don't take 4 weeks to make. This will add resale value and defiantly attract more customers. Once you are spending over 1000 $ on a bow what difference dose it make extra 200 $ for modules set for different draw lengths.
@@InsideOutPrecision I wish that was the case. The answer was 4 to 6 weeks. The explanation was covid. Next time I am buying a bow I will go on a road trip straight to the manufacturer to remove all delays.
@@johnmckee7988 It looks to be a great sight. Compared to a Spot Hogg single pin that’ll run you $300, i’d spend the extra cash for the $455 sight with much better components anyway.
Get a taller guy to shoot these bows so we're not always getting 28 28 and 1/2 in speeds... IBO 30-inch draw 60 lbs... I'm sure there are a lot of guys out here that over 5 foot 6 that want to see something other than these 28in draw reviews
@@InsideOutPrecision 305 fps w 440 grain arrow...30 in at 70 lbs...impressive thanks... one last thing do you think the G3 is quieter then the vxr 31:5... since they came out with the G3 there's tons of VXR s for sale online... I guess everybody has to have the latest and greatest
