I had a teacher similar to Ms.Honey in kindergarten her name is Mrs.Mucher we still talk and I am 31 she has helped me and my family tremendously. Because I was born with medical problems I missed most of kindergarten but Mrs.Mucher took it upon herself to work with me all summer so when I had to repeat kindergarten I wasn’t behind academically.

@jasminnemcdonald94A That's true since I felt the same way with my 1st grade teacher that I wished she could have been my teacher for all my classes when I was in Elementary School. However, Miss Honey most likely wasn't a teacher anymore after Miss Trunchbull was gone since the narrator which was Danny Devito said that Miss Honey became the new principal at Crunchem Hall.

Miss honey was her only adoptive mum the other was biological

Ms. Honey was her adoptive mom, Mrs. Wormwood was her birth mom.

@jessicaah-see9647 Yes that's true. She decided to be a bully just because she was bigger and stronger and felt she could be in control for being the principal. However, I have always wondered whatever happened to her at the end after she drove away in her car since Danny Devito as the narrator said "the Trunchbull was gone never to be seen or heard from again" being unknown if she quit her job after seeing all the students gang up on her or if she got arrested for all the bad things she's done by throwing kids and putting them in a room in her office called the "Chokey" with a dripping pipe and needles sticking out preventing the kids from sitting or squatting.

The crappy school system drove all the good ones to leave. It sucks

@user-bz4ey6bc2n It's because he didn't know about her too much just like the mom said that she never got to understand her and probably the only reason they decided to sign away Matilda to Miss Honey is because they were in a rush to get to Guam only because the police got enough evidence to have Harry arrested and they probably didn't have too much time to argue and felt, "let Miss Honey keep her, there is no time to talk before I get arrested."

@missyrose2154 Yes, I wondered that too since Matilda kind of put an embarrassment on her saying "adopt me Miss Honey, you can adopt me" without even asking her if she was interested. However, during the movie she told Matilda that she was born into a family who doesn't appreciate her and maybe sometime during the movie (not shown) she might have told Matilda that she really wishes that she could have Matilda as a daughter but didn't have legal custody. Then probably with Matilda's parents and brother running away to Guam and she not showing interest in moving away gave the perfect opportunity for her to say that her parents should sign her away to Miss Honey to grant her wish especially since Miss Honey told Matilda's parents that Matilda is a great child and that she loves her and wants her to live with her which gave Matilda the opportunity to say to adopt her like she was saying "your wish can be granted now."

@missyrose2154 Maybe not at first. But after realizing how bad her home life is, she realized Matilda was better off with her than her parents. Miss Honey came to her defense when Mrs Wormwood said “Miss Honey doesn’t want you! Why would she want some snotty disobedient kid?”. And when the dad called her “Melinda”. She held back a lot but after hearing that probably lit a fire in her. Besides, Miss Honey herself had a similar neglected childhood.

That is one part I feel like the new movie did better than the original movie in terms of script since Miss Honey was the one asking them to let Matilda stay with her and event ask for child's consent as well. Though to be fair, the original movie probably followed the book where Matilda was the one who ask Miss Honey to adopt her.

@GXtera Well, they never really cared for her either because they felt she looked ugly (her father Harry gave a grossed out face when he first saw her as a baby) and/or maybe because she was a mistake child and as parents they should have been the ones to tell her to go to school and get an education when kids usually say that school is boring while on the other hand, Matilda was the one who said that she should attend school. Not only that but, another reason why they signed her away to Miss Honey was because, they were also in a hurry to get to Guam because the police most likely had enough evidence to have Harry arrested since he was selling stolen car parts.

@Five-FingerExerciseWorks That's true that it's weird that she's a kid who has magic powers but, someone else who was watching this movie said that maybe the reason she got powers was because it was a reward for her from God because her parents and brother treated her badly and her powers were meant to teach them a lesson.
