He did do 3 roles he directed it he narrated it and he also played Matilda’s greedy selfish mean abusive good for nothing father harry wormwood and his name matches his personality and attitude
It makes sense now why Harry was adamant in ripping apart the library book because he thought it was a dirty pornographic book making his little daughter feel funny in certain places.
@@mechadoggy No, he just detests reading and thinks that all authors are just hippy, work-shy, layabout, college graduate and pathetic losers. He thinks reading is a waste of time and that only boring old age pensioners read.
@@tomedy_official *Are you joking, mate? Mr. Wormwood is 1 of the most horrible parents in fiction, if u ask me. 😅 Besides, dick's barely even a swear word. LOL 😅😆*
John Marston That sounds heartwarming. Frank would teach her how to scheme against people who deserve it and have slightly-dangerous fun. I think he’d tone down a bit of his usual stuff for a younger kid.
I have a twisted dark mind. I was honestly hoping for the parents and the son to meet a slow, horrible, painful death. Off screen obviously, since it's a PG movie. Or is it PG-13?
The attention span of people like Mr. Wormwoods logic is hilariously insane. Matilda was talking for almost 10 seconds and that was the only word that caught his attention 🤣🤣🤣
One of his best acting roles ever. What warms my heart is that since Mara Wilson’s mom was sick with cancer (and eventually passed) during the filming of this movie, Danny and Rhea were the ones taking care of her, supporting her, and pretty much treating her as their own child. ❤️
I wouldn’t be in a family like this. Especially who constantly treats Matilda like dirt and never respects her as a daughter. These people are an absolute disgrace

This makes me appreciate my parents more. Mom taught me to read and Dad bought me hundreds of books. When I was a kid I would read a book in the living room everyday, and Dad would sit next to me while watching tv. :)
I never knew that Danny Devito invented the *Yankee hat without a brim* before it becomes phenomenal. This guy deserves some recognition for what he have done.
Harry wormwood the absolute grumpiest person in the worlds calls his daughter blood boiling things calls her things that he should not why are all rials Dahl books like this?
@@GaryNumanfan-uo3nzThere were quite dark moments in it that were scary to watch as a kid, e.g. The Chokey, the chocolate cake scene, Miss Trunchbull's house, etc.
Me and my family actually did a personal meet-and-greet with Danny DeVito, Mara Wilson and Rhea Perlman after seeing Matilda in concert a few month ago. I actually have that same edition of Moby-Dick myself, and brought it with me and allowed Mr. DeVito to hold it when we posed for our picture with them. He even said the "Moby WHAT?!?!" line, and Mara Wilson recognized it!😂😂😂😂
He’s a sickfuck. He runs a faulty car dealership with faulty cars, he scams his customers and makes them pay him a shit ton of money, he abuses his daughter, and worst of all he’s a dimwitted criminal who has no heart. I hope his sorry ass got arrested in Guam and put in jail FOR LIFE!!!
@@sirclassicalhou3650 True, Matilda’s dad already thought reading was a waste of time, but his utterly visceral reaction to rip the book apart makes me think that maybe he thought Matilda was reading a pornographic book since Matilda said it was called “Moby Dick,” emphasis on the 2nd word.
@@mechadoggy I figured he was going to rip up the book anyway, but hearing the "dirty" word (and assuming Matilda was reading smut) escalated his anger.
@@handsdowntoo7150 Without the pretext of his daughter reading smut, I can at least see Mr. Wormwood taking the book and just tossing it down the hallway
Lesson learned: Never squint in anger at a stolen TV. Being the owner of a chop shop who does a terrible job at fixing stolen cars, the fines for ripping up that library copy of Moby Dick are the least of Harry’s problems.
The irony is most good fathers would really be praising their children for reading classic literature like Matilda was here. They’d usually be getting on their case for watching trashy TV shows like Mr. Wormwood was here LOL! The way he gave out to Matilda here was almost like how a father would yell at his teenager for texting at the dinner table. “DINNER TIME IS FAMILY TIME, WHO THE H**L ARE YOU TEXTING???” 😆😆😆😆
sometimes the tv content can give great content to be smart when it comes to important messages, like this film is ironically a great example of positive life/world lessons
My family NEVER did this LOL. We always had to eat dinner at the table, that was the rule. Sometimes my mom let us have the TV on while we ate dinner, but only because our living room & kitchen were connected. Don’t see much “family time” going on here Harry LOL!!!!
@@katiejohnston988 Henry wormwood: Well if I ever find out that Matilda is in love with Scott hoager I'm gonna laugh at that and be so proud of her like we did with Mickey Stinky tv
@@hopeoconnor1626 I like to think the librarian waved the fee because she had known for years that something was "off" about Matilda's living situation and didn't want to get Matilda in trouble by charging her parents the fee. 😢
You don't deserve respect, Harry wormwood! You're a criminal. you're a cheat & swindler. Stealing car parts, selling faulty cars for unfair prices. And on top of that, abusing a little girl & making her life a misery! You're a mean, fat, arrogant, stuck-up old bastard!!! 😠
*Me too! Danny Devito is just HILARIOUS, isn't he? 😂 He's brilliant in It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia and What's The Worst That Could Happen, too! 😆*
*I love Matilda. It's definitely 1 of the funniest all age films ever made, in my opinion. 😂 That bit when Harry throws his hat makes me CRACK UP every time I even just picture it in my head! Just because of the way it looks! 😂 F*cking classic, man! 😂*
@@CheerfullyCynical829 In fairness to Matilda, that's probably not the kind of stuff the Wormwoods tend to watch. And since her parents would've had control over the TV, what they chose to watch would be the primary factor that defined Matilda's exposure to television, whereas with books, she would've had a lot more control over what she read. Just one more example of how her parents did her dirty.
0:42 "Here's your hat, Harry." (Grab, throw) 🤣🤣🤣🤣 OH MY GOD, THAT'S BLOODY HILARIOUS! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 The way Harry (Danny Devito) chucks the hat is just an INSTANT laugh trigger for me! 🤣 An INSTANT laugh trigger! 🤣 Matilda's a brilliant movie. It really is. 😅 Best of luck, buddy! 😅✌
I love how Harry glues Matilda's sweet little melon head to the TV, not realizing she's getting him back, lol. Outside of their characters, it was adorable though. 🙂
