100% team fred. This movie is made in the 90s. In the movie fred treats the child as a child in the flashbacks no sexual/horny remarks but as soon as Elizabeth says shes all grown up fred says "great that means theres loads of grown up things to smash" since if hes an 'Id' or manifestation of her psyche, her thoughts/fred actions would only be adult like. Too much analyzing on a great 90s movie with less boundaries as we have now for kids/young teens movies. This is one of the greatest podcasts! Rip rik n carrie. Legends
I don't know what's with the reupload but this must never leave this channel! This. Is. The Most. Quin. Tes. Sen. Tial In. Stall. Ment. Of. This. Pod. Cast. Full Stop PS - TEAM FRED
The young ones is horrid. Not one bit of creative humor in it. You have to be British to find it funny. “Hey, let’s just act odd and it’ll be funny”. But I love drop dead Fred.
June saying that girls don’t write girls or imagine girls misbehaving is so funny lol maybe SHE didn’t but girl I read Anne of Green Gables and American Girl books and all of my stories were ONLY full of girls lol
The mother was very clearly a bad mother. She held a resentment towards Elizabeth (Phoebe Cates), particularly in regards to the father leaving - which was pretty much her own fault. She also clearly was very controlling and saw her own daughter as an antagonist to her own life. "Once [Elizabeth's mum] knew how [to hurt her], she knew that she could do it all the time. And she did. So I never showed her my real feelings again". In regards to Rik Mayall, this is clearly a difference in British vs American humour.
"Maya Angelou I THINK"- It cracks me up that who Paul is quoting here is actually...Paul... the Apostle: "When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things." - 1 Corinthians 13:11, King James Version.
Btw, drop dead Fred isn’t supposed to be a part of her! In this world, imaginary friends are their own entity! They move from kid to kid, with the same personality! Remember the waiting room scene? And when Fred moves on to Mickey’s daughter at the end! Proving they’re not part of each child’s psyche! 🙄 I was on June and Jason’s side til they said that. That’s just nuts. So all of those other imaginary friends in the waiting room are just parts of those specific children? Then how do they all know each others personalities and go way back? That should settle that argument, but I’m guessing not.
Wait, I’m on June and Jason’s side, but do they actually think Phoebe Cates is doing all the things Fred did? NO! Lol. So incorrect! They would have established that at some point if that was true. A child manifests imaginary friends in the real world, yes. NOT in this movie though Jason and June!
Team Fred. I've always found Paul to be a dope, though. Paul thinks that June's attraction to Fred isn't what made her think he was a suitable husband.
Casey Wilson is an annoying arguer. They’re having a fun argument, and she kinda is too, but she’s adding in little underhanded comments that people say when they’re actually annoyed. And that’s annoying to hear.
I cant listen to this anymore. Im unsubscribing. To be so bitter and horrible about such a wonderful, deep, unique film, that isnt perfect but is such a slam dunk. Ill never come back here again.
Good lord ! I am just starting to get into this podcast and had to find this video so I could comment on it.. Maybe cuz it's live or maybe they argue or have heated discussions like this more often than I assumed, but... Fuck they are being SOOO annoying. Like I stopped listening 16min into the podcast
