Matlacha Island: Charming Old Florida Fishing Village 4K 

I grew up on Pine Island. Walked, biked, rode horse back over nearly every inch of Matlacha, Little Pine Island, Pine Island and Useppa Island. Canoe, kayak and any other means of water travel around the Island and out lying protected islands. By far Cayo Costa Island is the best for over night camping if you have a boat. Rentals are available if you need to choose that route but there are several charter boats that will take you and pick you up for a fairly good price. My family still lives on the Island. Going home is always at low tide so you don't ever forget that special smell of salt water. I love my home town.

Nice to see my island thru the eyes of a visitor. I've lived in Matlacha for 18 years now. And congrats for pronouncing it correctly.

I live about an hour away from matlacha and like the video portrays it's like strapping into a different world. It really is a beautiful little town with great restaurants and you are literally right on the water. The fishing is awesome and the whole vibe of the place is that of relaxation walking through the town makes you want to hit a hammock with a tasty brew in your hands. One of the true Florida gems that is being kept the way more of Florida should look,instead of strip mall after strip mall. Robert I don't think anyone could have done that town the justice of a portrayal like you can. Great job!!

About 1yrago I followed this RV-er i had to stop. My husband & I bought an RV to travel in. He passed away at 56yrs old..glad to see you again, Traveler !

Thank you Robert! Been there in 74, 89 and 97. It has changed but not as much as the rest of FLA! My aunt and uncle retired on Matlacha in the 60's. My cousin's family lives on Pine Island. He wishes sometimes that the bridge would melt and no one would get over to Pine Island..HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.....Guess who Y'all....LOL!

I had no idea Malacha Island existed. It is absolutely beautiful!

It's October 2022 and I wanted to revisit this place that was destroyed by Hurricane Ian. I love this video... and this place. I do hope it's rebuilt and regain its glory.

Best Filet Mignon topped with shrimp, asparagus and bearnaise sauce, loaded baked potatoe! Best meal of my life! I enjoyed that at the first restaurant you had Mullet. Best atmosphere right on the water!

I lived on the island, the absolute best place to live...EVER! I got transferred to North Carolina 3 years ago and miss the island. Who wouldn't love to wake up to dolphins, snook, manatees, sharks, etc. in your backyard everyday? I traded all that for deer and turkey. Amazing job showing off our little slice of heaven, and increasing my homesickness. Kudos to you and wish you happy and safe travels.

I don't know why this video showed up on my playlist, but I watched it. Being a mid-aged guy from the Midwest, I always had a dislike for thinking about living in Florida. It's too hot and humid, too many people, and overrated in my opinion. After watching this video though, sure did make me wish I lived in Florida now. Love the charm of small islands, surrounded by water and wildlife and sea life, and boats... Maybe I am finally getting old and tired of this cold, snowy winters and need to move south. Great video Robert.

This is authentic Florida...before elitism, designer clothes, etc. and the bull that goes with them. It's a part that I thought was nearly dead...but seems there's some left who appreciate the genuine qualities that life has to offer. I'd take a vacation here in a heartbeat, wouldn't even consider spending it in a high rise with a heated pool surrounded by overpriced restaurants...not even if it was free. I'd also love to take a trip down the "Follow That Dream" highway in Florida. I understand a billionaire from Georgia has bought most of the properties there and intends to keep it just as it was when the Elvis Presley movie was made. Many KUDOS to him. And to you, Traveling Robert, for this most captivating video...! Many pleasant journeys wished for you, my friend...!

i am italian, this place was my favorite video.Only today i realize seeing some videos of hurricane ian, which matlcha was destroyed.I am very sad and saddened, in the videos after the hurricane you no longer recognize the beauty and the characteristic of this place, now only a pile of wood and rubble. I hope that everything can be back as it was before and as soon as possible. I hope that Travel Robert can come back and do a new video. Come on Pine island end Matlacha!! you will be reborn more beautiful than before.
