Greetings from JKA shotokan practioner The Bassai Dai of Gichin Funakoshi Sensei is the version we practise today and is the direct descendant of this kata. It is magnificent to see the original Matsamura no Passai practised by the Masters here Matsamura Sensei 》Itosu Sensei 》Funakoshi Sensei is the lineage I've read that the original Chinese Gung Fu name of the kata was Tiger Crane before it was brought and taught to Matsamura Sensei. Matsamura Sensei learned this kata whilst on travels to China Infinitum Thankyou, living history

@@Seifukusensei this is Matsumura Passai, nothing to do with Matsumora, Matsubayashi or Tomari-te. It is Shidokan Shorin Ryu and comes from Chibana, therefore, from Itosu (Shuri-te). This form of Passai can be found in almost any style that can be traced back to Itosu and because of that, Matsumura, such as Shorin Ryu (at least the Kobayashi lines of it), Shito Ryu, etc. What could come from Tomari-te is Oyadomari Passai (or Tomari Passai) which can be found in Matsubayashi Ryu and its deviations. Ichariba Choude! ✌🏼🥋🙏🏼
