"I still firmly believe that everything will end..." *looks at script* "well". Everyone: *phew*

Why does he speak in English if he is addressing the Japanese people? Why did he speak in English at the league of nations? Obviously he was talking towards America!

Fearing us then. Deciding to take the gamble in 41. Then disaster. The outcome in the Pacific was in the end never in boubt!

He spoke in English at Geneva because English and French were official languages at the League of Nations. Actually, he was selected as the delegate for this occasion, although he was not a diplomat at that time, because there weren't suitable career diplomats to speak sufficient English. Also, Matsuoka was educated at Univ of Oregon (while being enslaved by his White employer), and knew about pseudo humanism of US than most people in the world.

Siam (Thailand) abstained from the League’s condemnation in 1933 of the Japanese occupation of Manchuria.

Yosuke Matsuoka paved the way for Imperial Japan to go to a deadly war against the United States. Hero in 1933 became a war criminal in 1945.

You realize the reason Japan attacked Pearl Harbor and declared war on the USA was because the USA were doing trade embargos on Japan that broke international law, and was preventing oil, food and other resources from reaching Japan, which was halting their war against communist china? Rosevelt wouldn't lift the embargos unless Japan agreed to fully leave China. Japan had several options, submit to america, and die to China, or go out fighting and declare war on USA.
