@@barkanellichasingdreams4142 This is the 200m finals for SEC track & field championships for college; an amateur competition before going professional. Runners will be going max to get on the podium. This doesn't effect their recovery given there's enough of a time gap between their college track championship and the trials (late-June for Team USA). Plus, there are professional track & field athletes who are running a number of races before the Olympics trials. >USA do everything differently it seems in all sports. What do you mean by this? I explained amateur track & field and I know that soccer/football is done differently, but what are the rest of the differences?
I felt this I go to a d2 school and just ran a personal best of 21.03 at our championships and I’m happy personally but just thinking if I was here I would have gotten last is kind of sad
@@romztemple1651 lol! Don't be sad young man just train like-ur life depends on it & go get it. I was an very talented sprinter in my young days(now 64yo), even went to a D1 school. U have to eat sleep, drink sprinting if u want to get to next level. Sometimes all it takes is a change of running form, strength & relaxation. God bless.
@@BrayoFitnessTrainer Terrance Is improving fast. Noah Lyle's would be beaten or should I say predict, will be beaten. Too many sprinters at oasis him pockets or improve of him at this juncture. Trayvon Brummel is back & just dusted him recently by a big margin. Lyle's was too preoccupied with being the heir apparent to Usain Bolt & though he had the baton. He kept talking about that phenomenal record of 9.58/19.19 rather that trying to beat Justin Gatlin, Tyson Gay's, & Yohan Blake's time. Way too premature. Not he had lost ground & in sprints that's hard to recapture. I predict he will not the Olympic 100m or 200m. Laird looks better & Brommell also.
@@noelsmythe7391 I still wouldn’t count him out. Lyles has ran 19.9 this year so far already, and understand that the Olympics isn’t until mid to late summer. Pro athletes are trying to peak then. So even at the US olympic trials they shouldn’t be at their peak either (at least if their training goes according to schedule). I predict Lyles will be at 19.7 200m range by trials and hopefully bring 19.6 in Tokyo. He will definitely make the team however. Laird too but they thing with Laird is he’s had a long collegiate season. Burnout is a thing. Bromell is the favorite so far in the 100m for sure
Although I am a UGA grad congrats to Laird for getting the double 100 and 200 m. He is definitely peaking at the right time. Now we will have to see if he can slay the current giant in the 200 in Noah Lyles. Boling when he improves his technique will be better and if someone could get Fahnbelluh some technical help then the US would have 3 young problems for the world in the 100 and 200 meters races. Lang looks good as well. By the way how in the hell does a major television station has such god awful camera angles on major event like this. The camera angles for this race was like watching someone's little league footage of their kid's game. That was terrible, couldn't even tell Fahnbelluh came up late to get second.
Agreed! Hopefully Terrance has his legs under him in 4 wks cause the long collegiate racing circuit wears down the student athletes. The cam angle on this one should’ve been better.
@Toldyou So idk about back and forth at this point man, it’s looking real one sided, as terrance’s consistency is crazy Boling is inconsistent (sometimes), and his top speed isn’t as great as laird’s
@Toldyou So It is definitely much more than an edge at this point. The competition is over, Laird is the dominant performer. Boling is one of the toughest competitors I've seen in years. He appears to give it all but he needs more technique over brute force. I think that once Fahnbelluh loses some weight that he will beat Boling consistently when they battle it out for another 1 or 2 years if they both stay in college. Fahnbelluh just doesn't have the turnover at this point because he carrying too much weight. Take Laird out of the picture because he is going pro. I actually think that Laird should withdraw from school right away, skip the NCAA championships and focus on the olympic trials. This is his moment. The Olympics are NOW and he's lucky to have peaked in an olympic year. He should seize the moment because no one knows what's going to happen when it comes around again. If he doesn't make the team, he can always go back to college in the fall to finish out his education.
@@RunBuddyRun yeah I agree with everything you said, laird is peaking at the right time so I think he should forgo the Ncca championships and focus on the upcoming olympics, boiling is too tight in the way he runs he has good form but his upper body is so tight and he’s trying to force his arm movements, Joseph I’m not too sure if he needs to lose the weight but he definetly needs some help with the start if only he had great turnover similar to bolt it would have been scary
Laird has so much potential. He's probably under 165lbs and just has pure speed. Definitely my favorite sprinter at this point. Show's you don't have to be built like Ben Johnson or 6'5 like Usain Bolt to be an amazing athlete
Frankie Fredericks, Andre Cason, Ato Boldon, trayvon bromell, calvin smith, don quarrie...sprinting has always had short or lightly framed world class athletes. Its not a new thing.
Yeah Boling needs to get his form down. He's young and has time so no rush, but he won't make Olympics this year I don't think. Fanbulleh is doing great so let's not ignore that.
@@junefaleafine6233 Yeah I agree that Boling has the talent to help represent the US in the Olympics. As of now he is young and has time to work on himself. He will get there. Right now I am exited for Laird.
This is going to get really interesting. Boling gets all the press, but Laird is obviously faster. But he's also more than two years older, and Boling's maturation might win out. It's so great to see two American sprinters rising to the top :-)
Boling is not improving. He will have a harder time as more & more fast brothers gun 4 him. He would be a good relay leg runner & maybe long jumper or 400m, eventually not now, if he is handled right. He has no chance the next level as these young brother come at him full tilt. Even Joseph Fambulleh from Florida beat him & the freshman from Kentucky, 4th place, was all over him, its only a matter of time before they run him ragged. He was over-hyped because he is Caucasian( the great white hope). Lol!
If Fanbulleh ever learns how to get out he’s going to be trouble for everyone. I love how big he looks, and he has that stride that looks like he’s leaving footprints all the way down the track lol. Laird is poetry in motion, but UGA and UK right there too. If you go to the SEC you better be fast! 😅 💨
@@ryu-ken there was also Asafa, Tyson, and Yohan, aka the other fastest men in the world to ever live that were also Jamaican, so idk what you’re talking about. Jamaica only has like 2.9 mil people and america has 333 million people. Give them some time and they’ll be back to clap.
@@unbrokengg4053 we'll see after that legendary generation the level has severely dropped. Sorry but we back at the top, it is only flash in the pan for you
@@ryu-ken lol, don’t be too salty about the fact that all of the records are set by the Jamaicans. Even the women’s world record too. Even if one never springs back up, which is highly unlikely, you’ll still have to walk around knowing that the pinnacle of speed is Jamaicans. 333 million people with less world record golden bois than a tiny island. It’s obvious 🇯🇲
Boling's PB is twice as close to Laird's on 5/15 as it was on 5/12. He is still peaking. He is the sophomore who beat Laird for the national title and became the 5th fastest ever at that event. In all likelihood, they'll be very, very close at nationals.
This was a really great track meet, one of the best I have ever been to. I hope Terrance does not peak to soon. Two years ago Shar' carri Richardson ran a record performance in the women's NCAA 100 but fizzled out the rest of the year. Didn't even make the world championship team. Matthew Boling seems to be coming along slower and this might help him in the long run. So glad track is back.
Yessir! On the other hand, Xavier Carter (LSU) dominated during his time and went on to beat Tyson Gay & Usain Bolt with a 19.63 later on after NCAA’s. Same with Richard T who set the NCAA record in 08 ...won athlete of the year and went on to win Silver at LSU. That’s only 2 guys, but Terrance has mentioned before how well he takes care of his body. We’ll see.
@@BrayoFitnessTrainer I hope shaccari continues to improve but she was beaten recently in cool conditions running into a negative wind. I am hoping it will just an anomaly. I also wanted to point to Fred Kerley as another example of what i was talking about when I said some athletes seem to peak too soon. In 2017 he ran an outstanding time early in the season and was one of the favorites for a gold medal at the WC. He won a medal but not a gold, but the most disappointed thing to me was his being passed on the last leg of the 4x4 relay. It happens sometimes.
I'm guessing Bolings coach is setting him up to peak for Olympics?! If not I'm putting his coaches in question! Let's see how this rivalry plays & who makes the team???
@@sailshane I seriously doubt Matt makes the Olympic team this year. He has a lot of improving to do and we have pro guys who run sub 9.9 and sub 20 secs consistently.
107% facts. All outdoor season it’s just been Laird. However, Boling is great for youtube marketing. The ones that truly know the sport understand there’s no rivalry and it’s not close since outdoors.
TheRealBrayo he’s 2 years older than boling. He should be miles ahead of him but he’s not. The ceiling for boling is waaaaaaay higher. His technique is terrible and still runs with him.
@@alexiswilliams1492 Nope, Boling is NOT running with Terrance. Today Boling went 20.48...Terrance went 19.94...not even close. 100m...Terrance dropped 10.05 and Boling 4 places back in 10.19. Not even close. Jaylen is 2 years younger in high school running 20.1 in the 200m. Boling will turn 21 in 7 days. Usain ran his best time ever at 21 and so is many sprinters. When Usain went 9.58 im sure most ppl went, oh he’s onIy 21...so I disagree, Matt might wind up beating Terrance later in their pro career, but it would take Terrance being injured/outta shape. If Terrance is 101%, it’ll take Matt being 147% to take down Terrance. Matt will most likely be in college for 1 more year. My prediction is whatever he runs next year at 22 years may end up being one of the fastest time he’ll ever run (wind legal). He went 10.15 wind legal this year. I say 10.07 wind legal next year tops. He ran a lot of wind aided times in hs.
Laird has jet engines on him. He looks like he is not even trying. Bolling seems like his form is not as good as Laird. Don't get me wrong they are both incredible talents!
Yeah. In highly elite sports it takes talent and technique, and thats what Laird has got. Bolling could do just as incredible, but Laird has got it down.
Within a few months, Laird was barely able to go the same speed as Boling where they're both the same speed. Suddenly Laird's looking like he was never that slow and as if Boling is not even in the same league as him. How's that possible when you were already at the highest speeds in the nation? We're not talking new runners that are learning how to run - we're talking the nation's best who have clearly already learned how to run and learned what the limits of their talents are.
Bruh. 19.19 is going NOWHERE anytime soon. He would have to shave 7 tenths to touch it. Lyles was FLYING with that 19.5 and even that is slow in comparison. But can he make the US team? I would say it's looking pretty bright for him.
@Ric Jones The kid's got monster promise and potential. Although impressive, we are discussing the GOAT of ALL TIME, the likes of which pummeled the best Sprinters in American History. I could see him MAYBE going 19.4-5 but 19.19 is literally NO MAN'S LAND. Unless your name is Usain Bolt. But it will be fun to watch him grow and mature and if healthy, he could definitely do well on the Professional circuit. I love the rivalry Boling and Laird have going. It's reminiscent of Gay/Bolt, Gatlin/Bolt and Bolt/Blake...always pushing each other to be better.
come back next year and we'll see how boling is doing. I'll go on record and say. Sub 10 and sub 20 (legal) ...don't forget he won the national title in the 200m over Laird 2 months ago. Matt will defend his title..go off and sign big $$$ on his way out.
Well this first main meetup will get Boling thinking about how he can get better. Laird weights a lot less and good technical. Boling needs even more power and technique to catch him. Fun times ahead. Hats off to Laird for a great session!
@@mogreez9596 He is very dangerous because he comes on like a freight train at the end, being so big. He reminds me of 100m Olympic champ from Trinidad/Tobago 1976, Haven't Crawford big thick clumsy looking but a beastly power runner.
Boling seriously needs to work on his form. His speed is basically a 19.99 in the 200 meters with that awful form and that’s scary how fast he is. He could easily run a 19.85 or faster if he got his running form and technique down and him and Laird would absolutely dominate the whole field. This SEC track talent is no joke
@@mauricemordecai4376 If I’m not mistaken, I think Usain ran a 20.13 at 15 years tying the junior world record of Roy Martin in 2002-2003 and broke 20 around 17-18 years. He wasn’t dominating, but fir his age..that’s unmatched.
@@BrayoFitnessTrainer Yeah Bolling is awesome, but almost no one matches up to Usain. That's a hard fact to swallow, but It's true. Can't wait to see Bolling in the future, and can't wait to obviously see Laird in the olympics.
Laird peaking,Matt almost 2 years younger posts pb's in both the 100 and 200......................all good.Others looking great as well. This all bodes well for the U.S. in the sprints.
It's VERY interesting that people are STILL comparing Laird to Bolling. You can't compare a 20.00 with a 19:80. It's a different League. A more exciting comparison is Bolling and Fambulleh and Lang.
This is the SEC meet and Boling won SEC student-athlete of the year after his NATIONAL TITLE in the 200 at NCAA indoors.....may have something to do with it.
Laird has exceptional acceleration...but he has a bad habit of running with his hands open instead of making a fist. Too bad he didn't have a coach to break him of that habit. Why is that important you ask? Because it shortens your arms which means you can pump and move your arms faster which in turn translates to faster leg movement which translates to even faster times. I'm an ex sprinter from the '60s. I set 5 school records which still stand today. The 100yd dash, the 220yd dash, the 440yd dash, the 120HH, the 180yd Low Hurdles. Plus my teammates and I set school records in the 4x110, 4x220, 4x440.
Some sprinters actually tighten up when they run with a closed fist. Could be this was the best form for him because it allows him to run relaxed. Just a thought
Never get tired of Dwight Stones.... what a career ! Can anyone tell me why Boling starts with his hands a good 6" behind the start line in his lane, other than it add an exta 6" to the distance?
If you watch the clip in which Boling edges Laird in the 200 meter indoor championships, whoa, Laird had that eye of the tiger look afterward. You can sense he was thinking "I will NEVER lose to him again, not him, not anyone, ever again." ... Um, these two dominations tell the rest of the story.
Boling might be in Georgia, but he trains with his high school coach. I guess that's part of the reason he went to Georgia..because they allow him to train at home. All his coach does is send his high school coach the training program. Also Boling went to a Jesuit hs and now attends a Jesuit college. Anything associated with Jesuits is very powerful. Like perhaps, any politician you know more than likely attended a jesuit school. I think his father might be associated with powerful ties so I don't think Boling is going to transfer anywhere. He'll sign a contract next year.
Laird just smoke, so smooth. Bolling looked like he was have trouble holding form. 20.06 is PR. Of course when your trying to catch someone going that fast, you press.
That’s no excuse for him losing though. I like Boling, but fans hype him up like crazy. Michael Norman was a sophomore and Boling’s age when he was breaking the the 400m iWR, and outdoor NCAA record. He was running the 200m and cooked guys who specialize in that 1 and 200m
It’s funny because they want Boling to be the best so bad. But he ain’t. I wish they’d stop talking about the indoor when it’s outdoor season and outdoor is all that truly matters
@@marktalley9251 Not really, he’s spitting facts, I like Boling but they love to bring up the indoor race where he barely beat him and strained hard but ignore Terrance beat him indoors just before the same year.
And yall want him to not be the best so bad. Hes clearly not there yet. But yall are so affraid of seeing a white boy possibly being more athletic than yall. Its pathetic
Agree MB is hyped, has never ran a legal sub 10 or sub 20 second race. I always thought people hyped him. Plenty of sprinters at his age have done better.
