I like how he speaks so extemporaneously & non-scripted. It's refreshing to hear an athlete not sound like they're delivering pre-prepared remarks in an interview like this. Best wishes to all in Tokyo

Gotta say, as athletes go, Centrowitz is one of the most articulate, forthright interviews I've ever heard. His comments parsing the exchanges with Hocker have that ring of truth...complex competitiveness, respect, reflection on his own decisions. His honest rejoinder to questions about his "bad years" made me smile, because he was ready with evidence that showed he has answered this question for himself...maybe wishes journalists would do the same. His remarks about Shelby Houlihan also pull aside the screen between athletes and the public a bit, letting us see a bit of what the difficulty of being subject to this kind of testing can be. All things considered, he has convinced me of her innocence again because there's a kind of authenticity and truthfulness to what he's saying. Great respect for someone who can be this articulate after competition at this level.

A class act! So on strategy, Matt kicked too early and gave Cole a clear target to catch, but without the reserves to compete in the final 20 meters. BUT that 20yo Cole had to gain the gap AND kick with such speed shows Cole would likely win any race near that speed, as long as he could find a hole to get out of being boxed.
@joelwillems4081
@joelwillems4081 3 года назад
Would take a faster pace to maybe run the kick out of Cole's legs before the final couple hundred meters. Don't know if anyone has the guts to do that at the Olympics since the pack would just be drafting off of them.
