"This week on Soundtracker I finally get to my first Tarantino movie, and I'm starting at the beginning. That's right, it's RESERVOIR DOGS, and I'm joined by Matt Christman (@cushbomb). In this episode, we talk about the weird way Tarantino's brain operates, call the Wet Bandits racists, and talk about the short but killer soundtrack. So are you gonna bark all day little doggie? Or are you gonna listen to the episode?"

I once had a dream of the bank robbery scene. I was convinced the scene existed after that. I would ask people if they had seen the directors cut that included it.

Or you actually did see it and the world's been gaslighting you since

What a fun prank to play, and with the strongest conviction of truth too makes it impossible to defend.

I thought i remembered it too but was actually a half memory of that movie where young Al Pacino plays a bank robber

Mr. Pink dies at the end in a shootout with the police waiting outside of the garage. Turn up the volume when he runs out you can hear the gunshots.

Tarantino hinted at a work around his self imposed 10 film limit. In a fairly recent interview he claimed that, although he would stick to the ten films, he wouldn't have any problem switching over to making prestige TV or cable movies.

It was a beautiful era. I watched _Reservoir Dogs,_ then _Killing Zoe,_ then _True Romance._ Then we got _Pulp Fiction._ That was a lot to take in over the course of a couple of years. It reminded me of the nihilistic 80s. _Manhunter,_ _To Live and Die in LA,_ _8 Million Ways to Die._ Not at all the feelgood stuff of my parents' era like _Dirty Harry,_ where good(ish) triumphed.

I did not like "Stuck In The Middle With You" prior to seeing this film in the cinema back in 93. Now it's a banger. It's always already been a banger. "Mr. Baseball". Goddam. Magnum PI in Japan. Goddam.

If anyone's familiar with the Nazareth song "I Want to Do Everything for You", that's a Joe Tex cover. Both versions are pretty sweet

I've read that Tarantino was considering ballroom blitz in lieu of stuck in the middle with you.

I actually was lucky enough to find a joe tex's greatest hits cd for a buck at a thrift store a couple days ago. Life's little quirks.

That scene where Steve buscemi is running from the police and gets in a shootout while stealing a car gives me a raging boner

Mentioning C+C Music Factory to denigrate early 90s pop omits the fact that Martha Wash (famously uncredited in the song despite her vocals being the primary sample of the chorus) has one of the great voices in American music history. Listen to Everybody Dance Now again and tell me it’s not so.

Why would the host even talk about the n word thing? Like I would defend the use of it as a creative decision but evoking realism as a defense of it in after matt had a whole aside about how Tarantino movies are completely detached from reality is so ADHD stream of consciousness lizard brain that makes me wonder why tf people think they need to even talk about stuff like that? nobody cares what your take is about it just let it ride.

Podcasters assume the listener wants to hear their take on every minute thing because why else would they be listening

Two things about Tarantino films for me: 1. The violence often seems SO f"cking self-indulgent. What's disturbing is thinking about the self -indulgent mentality behind the creation of these scenes more than the actual violence itself. 2. Because of that, the violence becomes meaningless for me. And because of that, I find Tarantino films extremely forgettable. What was Pulp Fiction about? I don't know. I forgot and I don't care.

1. That extreme violence can be meaningless is the insight into Tarantino’s self-indulgence that you almost-but-not-quite landed on in understanding Tarantino’s psychology. 2. If that recognition expressed with such obviously true clarity does not shock your system to the point of remembering it indelibly, then you have not fully internalized the grotesque reality that most violence is meaningless. 3. Hey man, like whatever you like. But do not imagine for a second that your inability to process the value of a filmmaker like Tarantino is a statement about anyone except you.

@@michaellandreth3870 I don't know what gave the impression that I was speaking about anyone BUT me. I said "for me" twice in my little post. And I ended with "I don't know", "I don't care". Yes. It says something about me. My opinion on Tarantino films.
