I always wondered why Matt Damon was a target in the movie Team America World Police, and even Damon himself questioned the unusual portrayal... "MATT DAMON!"
@MyHarrietHarper What concerned Matt Damon about his portrayal in the film is that it made him think, "Is that how people in the industry perceive me?" That's why it was so baffling to him (and pretty much everyone who saw the movie).
@@rustincohle2135 Everyone laughed at the joke because the PUPPET looked regarded. Everyone respects Matt Damon the actor and why wouldn’t they. You are being retarded.
When I was playing Sea of Thieves and they finally added the ability to name your ship, I named mine the Matt Damon, and we all exclusively just yelled "Matt Damon!" at other ships / players and it made for some of the funniest encounters I had in that game. We played to just silly troll people (and hunt actual toxic assholes, because nothing makes those idiots more enraged than a bunch of fuckin totally non-serious hooligans running circles around them) so the Matt Damon thing just elevated it. At one point I'd hidden on another ship with an exploding barrel they couldn't find, and they couldn't find me because there's an emote where you can turn into a plain wood barrel, so I turned my mic on, and would periodically say "Matt Damon!" and they were getting SO FRUSTRATED trying to figure out where I was. Went quiet for long enough for them to think I was gone, then I grabbed the gunpowder barrel, walked up behind one of them, lit the barrel, and whispered "Matt Damon." Dude screamed "NO!!" right before I blew him and their boat up. Later when we were about to hop off the server, we saw their boat again so we went hauling ass over to them, set our ship on fire as we approached, shot off a bunch of fireworks (basically a "friendly" + "we are hopping off" sign), yelling "Matt Damon!" through the megaphone, and all played instruments together on their boat while we watched my giant fucking sparkly gay ass rainbow unicorn boat sink (not joking, it had a unicorn mast that glowed with a rainbow). Left them some good loot because they were good sports about everything. Good times. Thanks, Matt.
This is my favourite part about the movie, specifically BECAUSE of the reason they made him handicapped. It's the funniest shit, and the croissant cobblestones in Paris arey #2. The movie is just a concentrated blast of such high desnisty fuckery it's a gift that keeps on giving.
@@PAKallman actually that’s not how it works BRO. Its a computer algorithm that suggests something you’ll probably watch/enjoy. That’s why the same people tend to watch the same shorts and be in the same comment section on videos.
Although i can't watch most of the movies he acts in without cringing, the Bourne movies are superb. He did a great job on those and somehow fit the character really well
Ive met Matt Damon twice. Once he hated me .. red carpet in melbourne. I was yelling MATT DAMON the team america way. He gave me the worst look. I felt so bad.... Then a few years later.... 2020 i met him in a clothing store in Byron Bay -- told him how much of a legend Actor he was. I felt so bad the first interaction. The second one was lovely. He was so nice
I was in Iraq in '04-'05 -- those peak post-9/11 Team America years when the wheels were starting to fall off the "WMD+Liberation" wagon. It is an amazing and hilarious commentary on the early 21st century. (This is one of my kids logins, ha).
I really love the puppet they designed for him and the voice is just the icing of the cake, yet I also can admit I also don't understand why the joke of him saying his name like that. Yet my favorite scene is the endless 🤮 scene while the increidbly dramatic music plays on the background.
I have just seen a video where they said that Mat Damon’s script was originally very charming, witty and attractive, but they decided to change it because the puppet was not in harmony with those characteristics. Instead of remaking the puppet, they decided to change Mat Damon’s script. Lol
Trey and Matt always had a thing against actors. They made it perfectly clear on one of their "mini commentaries". And for the record they really should have used "Mark Wahlberg" if they were going after one note performers.
I think celebrities are well served when they don’t take themselves too seriously. If they get insulted are satirized, the best thing they can do is laugh it off, at least to the public. Back when Team America was made, Matt was in a lot of films, perhaps the only reason they went after him was he was a ripe target.
thats funny for the reason behind that decision and great how he has a great sense of humor about it. something some celebrates should handily when being made fun of.
Matt and Trey weren't making fun of these actors and their stance against the war in Iraq. What they were mocking was the arrogance and egotism (as well as the hypocrisy and ignorance) many celebrities (including the actors lampooned in the movie) oftentimes display. The "we know better than you, because we are better than you" crowd is what they, and the audience, were laughing at. Something that seems to have gone over these people's heads including Maaaaaatt Daaaaaaamon...
More a dig on Affleck than Damon. I mean when they got nothing to make fun of you for this is an easy attack. But ignoring Affleck and knowing how mad it makes him makes the entire joke for me
There was actually an interview Or when he just simply stated his name instead of answering a question Matt Damon came out of his face that’s where they got it from I think
About ten years ago I had a minor surgery, and when I came to in anesthesia recovery, I was drifting in and out, answering yes and no questions to the nursing staff with nods and grunts. When it came time to bring me back to my room, they wheeled me in my bed through the hallways, up and down elevators, and the whole time I'm just chilling and resting. As they wheel me into my room where my parents were anxiously waiting, I looked up at the television and noticed they were watching Good Will Hunting. I uttered, "Matt Damon" in the style of this movie and my parents said I legitimately surprised the nurse. It was the first thing I'd said after being out of surgery for an hour.
Nope. I thought it was because around the time the movie came out Matt Damon had made a public statement that he was classically trained thespian whereas most actors just got there by their looks and DSL.
Friends of mine decided to get this movie thinking it was for kids the mother was out doing the dishes and the kids absolutely were killing themselves laughing before she got to remove it as quick as you could
