I took a quick day trip up to Bend Oregon on September 7 2022 to visit Ruby, my RV-8, N998RV. She's at Cascade Customs and Design ( www.ccdpaint.com ) getting the full painting treatment.
At this stage, all of the fiberglass parts have been removed and prepped and primed for painting. And wow, do they look nice! The wing tips and cowling and wheel pants are works of art! All of the metal parts including the fuselage, wings, and control surfaces have been scuffed for priming.
I can't say enough good things about the work Steven and Brian Bird and the boys at CCD have been doing! This is a 5-star operation!
I can't wait to see the graphic stencil work and base coats!
In a couple of weeks, I'm going to head back up just before the clear coats go on to do one final inspection.
Then, the week of October 10th 2022 I'll go back and pick her up to bring her home -- but not before we shoot a bunch more air-to-air video with Leading Edge's R-44 Helicopter in full paint!
So Exciting!
