You could see his eyes light up every time he was with Rachael on the show. I really think he loved her, but as he said himself, he realized he just didnt really know her. Which is understandable as you don't have enough time on the show to get to know someone 100%. But I too would loose feelings for someone who did that or hurt me in a similar way.

He defended Rachael (and admitted he didn't even bother to ask her about the photo thinking it was a rumor LOL)....THEN after Chris Harrison explosion, all things changed and suddenly it became known to him "in real time." That's a lie. He knew about it beforehand. Prove me wrong. ;o) Word is also out from the inside that the producers got into his head which confirms his actions and common sense reasoning. ;) WHERE is Rachel Lindsay on calling him out?!!! =P

Matt needs to heal from his past because he’s projecting his hurt unto the women and it’s preventing him from moving on. That conversation with his dad sealed the deal in detecting the broken child in Matt. He can find the most amazing women, but until he’s healed it will never work in his favour

@@charleschichester8054 growing up without a father can lead to feelings of abandonment, betrayal, and confusion. This can translate into the child’s adulthood in the form of being closed off, hesitant to be be vulnerable, not letting anybody in etc. This prevents Matt from advancing his romantic relations because relationships require intimacy in the form of vulnerability to create an emotional connections. Obviously he hasn’t healed bc this is all we’ve been seeing through the season, no vulnerability.

Matt is not making much sense here, he is so shut down emotionally. Finally realized he was shut down the entire season too. Numbing out is a trauma response and he likely has gone this far in life not realizing he needs to work on these issues. Agree! Even his unkempt beard, and just how he struggled to communicate what he's feeling. Even the host was encouraging him to actually talk to Rachel, but he sat there like a robot pouting the whole time. It was really uncomfortable to watch. It's amazing remembering my impression of Matt on the first episode and what he looks like now. It's like 2 completely different people. I think he does need therapy.

I actually really love how this story ended and how they handled the conversation. He didn't want her to be canceled and wanted to be with her, but she needed to unlearn and relearn some things. They held a dialectical conversation with compassion. He held her accountable, she took accountability and did the work to better herself. Now both of them are together again. Let's be clear: he is upset because of a dress she was wearing years before meeting him and not because of something she did or say to him. Something he could have easily checked for himself before the media came with the smearing campaign - but he didn't. And instead of taking responsibility for his (lack of) actions or to look past that insignificant sh*tstorm he decides to go full ahead blaming her. That tells you more than enough about what kind of a person he is.

He’s not obligated to educate her on anything especially at her big age. She should’ve known right from wrong racism isn’t just something you can forgive and move on from. He had every right to not choose her.
