My first encounter with Matt Gilman was at the very first Wood City Music Festival we put on. My parents had been called by God to do a christian music festival completely free of charge. It was a crazy year of prepping for something we had no idea how to do. My parents were nurse anesthetists, not event organizers. Through a lot of prayer, planning, more prayer, mustering volunteers, and even more prayer, Wood City Music festival was finally happening. We had over 3 thousand people. Matt Gilman had recently left IHOP KC at the time and we'd asked him to open for Hawk Nelson. His song "Holy" brought us to our knees. After a year of stress, confusion, and perseverance, we knew that God had been in control and still is. His plans always come to fruition, regardless of who He uses. We are now on our 11th year running. Thank you Matt for your beautiful worship! We would love to have him back.

Matt is my favourite worship leader since I discovered him through ihop. He’s so unique. Right after I became a Christian, I sat in my room for hours worshipping Jesus and balling my eyes out to his sets, I was especially touched by to the song „Closer“. 15 years later I’m still crying when I hear this song. Thank you Matt for your ministry! Also this interview was hilarious, he was so put on the spot constantly 😂 poor guy 😂

I was in there when Matt and Will came to Kona in 2017. I remember Will prophesying over Matt that he wouldn't be a one-hit or a one-album wonder. I've been waiting a while for this to be true, but those songs at 57:20 and 1:28:20 give me hope that it's coming. And though I would like him to release them already, I love that Matt hasn't felt the pressure to rush out albums but has prioritized having his songs be first to the Lord.
