They won't give Reggie bush his Heisman Trophy back because when that illegal stuff happened that was before the nil situation that was 10years , 20 years maybe 30 years before the NIL came around so he will probably never see that trophy come back to him ! For that simple reason for how long ago that was and how long ago the nil was approved and was was opened up

If NIL had been around during that time, Reggie Bush would still have his Heisman and technically SC would still have the National Championship. I say technically because they were an explosive team and LSU avoided playing them during that time. SC - LEAVE NO DOUBT!!!!

They're ruining college football. They need to make Div I the power 5. Each conference should be 12 schools. The top two teams get a first round bye. They could have a nationally televised event in picking which teams play each other in the playoffs. The other schools that would get left out already get subsidized by the NCAA already.

Except it’s not. The NFL has a system and it works, but do you know why nobody can touch the NFL? Because they offer undeniably the best product in the field. Every other competitor to the NFL has ultimately been killed because of the obvious decline in competition. Yet the moves we see to the SEC and B10 both currently and historically in the last 10 years have had NOTHING to do with competition. If the B10 were to take the most competitive football teams in the last decade from the PAC12 it would undeniably be Oregon and then split between Washington and Utah. USC has had one good season since 2008, UCLA has been relevant this century. On the SEC, Oklahoma makes sense, but UT has had 1 good season in the last 12 years. Good competition isn’t being added just more profit centers. That’s not good for the sport or the brand of college football, because you’re just consolidating garbage in a pile instead of actually making a sound investment based on the real current data of the product

The Big 12 had one opportunity to be a player, and they failed. Had they added Louiville and Cincinatti (to link to their acquisition to West Virginia), it would have given them some leverage down the road. When Louiville came off the board, it was the ned of the Big 12 being am meaningful voice in whatever happens next. I'm an old KU fan, so I've been hoping KU bolts to the Big 10 for a long time. That's where they would fit. But now, I don't think it matters. We are going to have a new league the CFA. Oddley, unlike most sports, you will have two conferences, but Noth (Big 10) and South (SEC), and then some sort of division allignbment within them. The best part is all of thethose old Bowls that spent decades ruining the sport will be history.

@@jimmierlena1614 They could have had Louisville before they ever joined the ACC. THAT'S the problem. When they let Louisville slip, it left West Virgina on an island, and continued to leave the Big 12 vulnerable to expansion. Had they added Louiville with West Virgina, then they start to have a legitimate shot at luring ACC teams like FSU and Clemson. Instead, the Big 12 just added from lesser conferences, and are solidifying their role as the a second tier conference. And that may work out well for them.

Basically the big athletes want to go where the money is and a Power 2 model creates two D1 FBS system, a minor league pro model and the rest of the schools. Money always ruled the world and with the NIL, the athletes get to have endorsements making them rich overnight. Oregon and Washington along with Ok St, Baylor, Texas Tech, TCU can move to the ACC and become a dominant conference which a pro model looking realistic.

Any pro wrestling fan, who watched during the 1970s and 1980s will remember how wrestling was harmed by the end of the territories. Vince McMahon, of the WWWF/WWF/WWE, took his brand nationally as a super territory and swallowed-up the smaller territories. When we get a super conference with the SEC and the BigTen, and the NCAA is gone, will college football be harmed?

It’s good money, but well shy of the $143 million breakeven for the Big Ten. The big ten teams will receive about 7 million less annually if they do an equal split with Oregon/Washington. Phil Knight could help or the NW schools could receive less to make them more attractive. Alot of dough, the Big10 teams would be giving up. I wonder how long it will take for the NCAA to realize that what this does is gives them the power to supplant all professional sports. The door is open, it’s only a matter of time until the NCAA allows colleges to directly pay their players and get rid of their eligibility limit. For that matter, there is no reason to force the players to take college classes either. They own the pipelines to high school players, the NFL, MLB, NBA all depend on college to provide them a player pool. Pretty soon they will own their revenue streams too.

NIL should be done like a clearinghouse kind of thing: The player who gets the deal gets 10% of the deal. If it's a million dollars, they get 100k. 40% of said deal should be distributed to all athletes on that team's roster. So, 400K being divided among all the players on the team, so like 5k for every player on the team, including the one who got the deal. The remaining 50% should be put into an overall deal for all players in said conference to add value to the sport. This would do 2 things: stop pay for play, thanks TAM, and it would balance out locker rooms, giving everyone something when someone gets a big deal. This would turn a big deal into "Wow, that's awesome, thanks," rather than, "Oh, good for you."
@kevingill144
@kevingill144 2 года назад
That would make sense if the school was putting the money up. If I as a 5 star athlete can secure a 2 million dollar deal I should receive 100% of that money and do w it as I see fit. So everybody is being funded by the young men but the guys get no direct money... which reminds me of communism where other people (and especially college women) are riding off of someone else's work/profit/money. The NCAA should consider some sort of "good faith" rule for NIL that requires companies to make NIL deals that increase sales, etc. and not just because the founder is an alum of a certain school. Let's say a company is routinely signing athletes from one school to NIL deals that are not profitable for the company. That company should be investigated and perhaps banned from making NIL deals with athletes for some period of time. Another rule could be that deals from "biased companies" must have some sort of "advertising performance clause" where a portion of the deal payout is based on increased sales. Basically, I feel like rules along those lines would prevent "wealthy (insert school) alum" from overpaying star players for a single 30-second commercial, etc. I'm not a lawyer, so there is probably something important I haven't considered. Although I think NIL could use some regulation, I think it is a good thing for college sports. In men's basketball we see talented players returning to college versus declaring for the draft early to make a bit of money as a second round pick or UDFA. Also I think it's great that players are able to profit a bit off of their success on the court/field/track/etc. via player merchandise (shirts, jerseys, etc.). In my experience, it's also been great for small fan apparel shops in college towns, as they can only sell so many "University of (insert name)" shirts but NIL opens the door to selling a ton of player merchandise.

If the goal for college is to set up young people to succed in life than NIL is obviously an good thing. In that regard for them the "pay for play alumi NIL Deal" benefits college athletes aswell as the "this person has marketing value NIL deal. " I dont think its an possible to put an rule in place to ban "pay to play Deals"becaise it would be very hard to prove at hundred or tbousands of cases thats case and would put a lot of ressources into it. Also how would you justify that you don't allow somebody to make Bad financiall decisions by overvalue another persons future marketing value? At the end of an attempt their would be a lot behind the door payment and an scrinking market for college athletes making money. Dont see the benefits there.
