I really can't think of anyone who deserves this more. Mercer's an inspiration and oozes integrity, a man that will never sell out the fans. You know this book will be great. Wishing you even more success in the future Matt, you're a true D&D Legend.

It astounds me that I can feel so much pride for a person I have never actually met or even knows that I exists but I do. In the years that I have been watching and following (not in the creepy way) the Critical Role cast I/we have watched them all grow from what was essentially a regular group of D&D nerds playing make believe into cultural icons for the genre. I suppose that it is due to the type of format and casual (yet obviously professional) setting they set forth that makes it feel more like I'm sitting down at a table with them than simply watching a TV show. So seeing Matt get officially published and accepted into the D&D cannon/lore is almost as if I'm watching a good friend accomplish the same act. Congrats on all your present & future success you've earned it!

It helps that Matt takes the responsibility VERY seriously. I know he suffers from imposter syndrome as well which helps keep him very humble and ridiculously well grounded. That being said, he definitely deserves his success. He's worked tremendously hard on both the show and the product and to my mind has earned the success he currently enjoys.

Y'know what this means? Matt Mercer is canon to the D&D multiverse as he appears in The Yawning Portal, and now Exandria is Canon to the D&D multiverse that means Matt Mercer can visit Exandria.

@@bonbondurjdr6553 Yes. I have two D&D Groups a week, and both are in Tal 'Dorei. Its got a lot of detail, and some of the character options are cool. We have a rune-child Sorceress in the group and a cobalt Soul Monk. its fun

@@SaraH-xl4us Good notes!! After every session i take 15 minutes and make a few notes as to what happened, NPCs of note encountered, etc.

As a avid, AVID, Forgotten Realms fanatic, initially I was disappointed. But the more I look into it the more excited I am. I don't watch CR, don't have a burning desire to run a game set in Wildemount, and probably wont but the book. Nevertheless I am so happy to see something as huge as a core setting introduced to the game. And I am very grateful to Matt and the CR cast for doing what they have with the hobby!

I've been wanting to get into D&D for years but never knew anyone who wanted to play. Then I found a few people who did want to play but didn't want to DM. I decided to become one... After watching a couple off Matt's videos, I still don't think I'll do a great job, but watching how he captures the players, how he is so nice yet fair, how he can spin a tale.... I wish I could get even a fraction of how he makes people feel from my players. Honestly can't wait for the book release

Just do you dude the man has years of practice and gets to do this as a job just be yourself and talk to your players let them know what your hoping for and what they are and you'll do just fine 😁 just remember communication is the key to it 😁

Just do it! about 50% of being a good DM is just taking a deep breath, gathering your courage and jumping in! If you run a game every week (or as frequently as you seem reasonable, once a week is the usual) and your players keep showing up every week, then chances are you are running a fun game. And yeah, to start with? You'll make mistakes. You'll suck a bit. You'll have off days. So does everyone. So does Matt Mercer, so does Colville. But the thing is you grow from that. And by all means, do let these guys inspire you, adore what they do, listen to their advice - but remember too that every group is different, every Dm is different, you will have your own style, your own likes, your own dislikes - as will your players. If you just jump into it, do your best, and be receptive to your players, chances are you will have a great time, and run a wonderful game!

Matt, and everybody else at Critical Role, inspired me to start playing DnD. Moreover, they gave me the courage to take up the DM mantle and start my own Curse of Strahd campaign. I feel like the reason for that is that that would have made Blood Hunter and Gunslinger official dnd content (aka Adventurer's League viable etc.) and WOTC doesn't want that

Congrats to Matt and the Critical Roll community. It is every player and DMs dream and having a new setting, lore, creatures, locations and magic items... I dont watch the live play or follow Matt. Of the new worlds that could be added to D&D, Exandria is a good one! Especially since it will not interfere with Wizard's own plans if they want to add other classic worlds!
