I've said it before but Matt Pike needs his own show on Vice or Adult Swim where he can go off on whatever topic he wants to, bring in bands or talk about lizard people. It would be insanely entertaining.
Matt Pike is so chill. I met him for a second at the coffee shop I worked. He puts milk in his coffee which I didn't think was very metal for him, until I remembered he's Matt Pike, therefore anything he does is metal.
personally i think it's more unmetal to worry about other people thinking the stuff you do is unmetal. If you like milk in your coffee then fucking drown that coffee in milk.
@@KevinUchihaOG I met him outside of a High On Fire show in LA about a decade ago. He asked us if he could hit my friends joint, and then just walked back inside with it, haha
I also met him at a bar down in Nashville that was nearly abandoned. I actually didn't recognize him, it was just me and my two buddies in the bar and then he and Sleep. We bonded over having the same credit card, he was really chill and a nice guy.
I love Electric Wizard, heavy, gritty riffs man! Sleep was first for me tho and its the reason I got into EW eventually, EW, goatsnake, reverend bizarre, kyuss and elder
Am I the only one who loves the fact whoever wrote Pike's wiki page made a point of it being known one his most notable things about him is "He is well known in the metal scene for never wearing a shirt during live performances"
I saw Sleep in a small pub back in 1995. The whole legend of "Dope Smoker" was alive and filled the air. This was before the recording and the mess, pain it caused them. It was a good show, good time. Matt was a good guy.
Matt Pike looks like the coolest uncle on the planet... met him at a Toronto gig a few months back, and was pleasantly surprised by how nice of a guy he was
One of the best comments I’ve seen on youtube. I’m half waiting for him to drop the interviewer with a short clothesline and DDT and then sling Damien around his neck and strut the fuck out.
I honestly expected his shirt to mysteriously disappear during the interview, do to the fact that no shirt is capable of containing that level of awesome for very long.
How the hell did Matt deliver the line "Yeah I'm pretty stoned right now" In the most concise and sober way possible. Dude could probably eat a whole pack of weed gummy bears and give a damn lecture
gabattaz1 haha that'd be interesting.. I've never looked but I don't know if there'd even be much about him on Wikipedia to see if it's right or wrong since he's not as well known...some lesser known musicians and other people there isn't much on Wikipedia about them if there's even a page for them in the first place haha. Fuck it I'm actually gonna go look him up on there now after I finish this video 😂
Just looked haha..pleasantly surprised there is a bit more than I kind of expected lol. Only thing is I didn't see much of anything about his personal life unfortunately, mainly just his musical career.
I wanna leave him in a Recording studio with Jimi Hendrix in his prime an ounce of weed and a few acid tabs and a drummer and bass player and listen to what they make.
Here is a fact, Matt Pike almost beat my ass in front of Casino El Camino in Austin, TX one year when both HOF and OM were playing SXSW and I suggested that all he had to do was join OM on stage and play Sleep songs.
Matt Pike is the new Lemmy. Him and High on Fire will be an instrumental part of our lives in the future. Like Motorhead. Their music will be on commercials, tv movies, etc.
Those Green customs were a bitch to maintain on the road. I read an interview that while they were into the tone, they kept having to be serviced. Most went to Al with Om, and Matt get more into Marshalls and modern Orange. I also wonder if they are still in storage, along with the old Laneys.
Mr M-Bag - So your dome/ears literally rang for close to a week after seeing them then? *Exactly* like mine did after seeing Motörhead (floor seats, about 8 rows back) at a smallish sized Concert Hall here in Toronto, many moons ago.
