My uncle used to get paid for a drag act back in the 80s, and I can guarantee you, that that show was about as far from a burlesque show as it is possible to get... it was a fat guy strutting around lip syncing to 60s British pop songs while awkwardly flipping a feather boa around people's necks. It was all good, _clean,_ fun. I met a lot of the people in that industry through him and they were for the most part, lovely people who thought they were just providing entertainment. I have _no_ idea where all this hate has come from, besides the fact that it's just a bunch of people being "precious".

The reason why people don’t want to call parents who bring their children into churches “freaks” is because not all churches cover up sexual abuse. They are still run by individual people. Not all of them think or act the same, and not all churches or it’s members teach or practice the same, even in the same branch or denomination. Secondly, the children and their parents can still be cautious whilst attending church such as avoiding staff. They can still do their prayers away from staff whilst not doing anything else at the church. Third, the rate of sexual predators is just the same as outside the church. The high amount of reports is due to reoffending, so the parents might think that the chances of their children being abused are low. And fourth, religion is viewed as many to be a form of moral and ethical guidance in life, and so want to pass down their values to their children, without sheltering them from other peoples values and viewpoints in the world as well as giving them the freedom to believe and live how they want. I am certain that people who say that it is not “freakish” for parents to attend church or any other religious service with them are also likely in support of teaching children about LGBT topics
