Hope your relationship is going well. :) I didn't "know" I was into boys until middle school or so, but in hindsight, I could definitely have had a "crush" on another boy, when I was younger. I just wouldn't have attributed it in that way until this point. I was crushing on girls and guys I guess in Kindergarten. Anyway, I was definitely attracted to girls in Kindergarten, and by middle school I was having thoughts about boys the same way, so I dunno. It's complicated. And I suppressed that due to my religious beliefs, so it's hard to really have a clear grasp in hindsight.

From what i've read, it seems every sociological or psychological theory that peoples sexual preferences changes (significantly) from socialisation has been disproven or at least called into question in the last 10+ years or so, simply from a complete lack of real evidenc. While on the other hand genetic influence on sexuality is basically proven from statistics on sexual behiour and actual DNA analysis. All the while Machine Learning Algorithms can now predict sexuality from the facial bones alone with about 80% accuracy. But for some reason i hear everybody always arguing that nobody doubts this, or that peoples sexuality can definitely change from social influence, when plain and simply no such thing could ever be proven.

I mean, alot of kids will do stereotypically gay things as a kid whether they're straight or gay I feel. I'm one of those cishet males, I remember being a kid and only attracted to girls. That said, I wouldn't be surprised if environment has some effect on sexuality as I think it also can be reflected in certain kinks etc as well. I find it hard to think it's all genes, though I think that definitely plays a role too and probably a bigger one. Either way, it shouldn't matter which sex we are attracted to. I also think that's the stronger argument than trying to argue against whether or not environment has an effect on it. I'm not saying you can't make both arguments, just discussing my random thoughts here.

I knew at 5 years old I was attracted to girls.
