This is my recording of the "50 Guitar Studies progressing in difficulty" Op 59 by Carcassi. Recorded with a Tascam Unit. Thanks for listening and subscribing!!
Carcassi's method is still up there with the very best. It's ignored too much IMO. It really has everything that the guitar student needs. He even uses finger 4 (not 3) on the D of a basic D minor chord, which I think Sor was also aware of. It certainly shows a great understanding of the ergonomics of the left hand. Thanks for this recording.
+vihuelamig I agree in that Op 59 is a very good guitar method, if not the best overall. The problem is that Carcassi's Op 60 tends to overshadow it. Thank you for listening.
Carcassi is certainly with Sor, Giuliani and Carulli (and of course Paganini) one of the major compositors for the classical guitar. His work is simply magnificent. Thank you Carcassi for making us loving more and more this divine instrument.
@@roopakvaidya1450 Was it not arranged for the guitar? As I know, the music was written for the piano. But Tarrega is said to make a guitar arrangement of the concerning piece.
Thanks for your comments! I would have never imagined it was going to be somewhat popular. I should have done it better. Definitely. Greetings and stay safe!!
You are right! There aren't too many free of charge. I recorded some Mauro Giuliani etudes, though. You can find them listed in my channel. Napoleon Coste set of studies are also here on RU-vid, by different artists. Greetings!
Thanks for the compliment!! The problem with video recording is the sound quality. The one I get from my camera is near appalling. Besides, I wanted to make it all one file, one YT video, instead of recording each one of them separately. Maybe one day...
Hi Juan, Very sorry to hear about your tendonitis, yes it's a bummer alright!! When you are well, it would be good to see you complete Op. 59. I've come back to the guitar after 30 years and I find listening to pieces played properly help me with timing and a sense of rhythm. Best wishes to you and thank you.
Wikipedia
I searched "the best of - Matteo Carcassi" and this is the first thing that came up... Just saying.... You think it would be Opus 70 or Opus 71 or something. Lol GREAT GUITAR TONE, I WILL DEFINITELY GIVE YOU THAT! And a thanks for posting.... That first piece is pretty ingenius.
I used this method in my early teens. I have no recordings of my efforts, but I am quite confident that your playing of them beats mine. You do have a good musical sense which comes out in your playing. In particular, you rhythmic sensibility and execution is professional quality or, at the least, quite closed to it. Most amateur musicians will retain an amount of "choppiness" or irregularity despite many years of practice. I dabble in different types of music, but make no claims of expertise so take my opinion with a grain of salt. Nonetheless, I can't hear anything in these performances that would separate your interpretations from those of a professional. (Except I think you recorded a few passages in which you strings slide a little out of tune). In sum, go Juan Leon. You rock the Carcassi method like a beast.
Many thanks for your kind words! I wish I could have a professional guitar so that I could put out something better and more ear-pleasing . Maybe in the future. Your words are quite encouraging. Thanks for your support!!!!
Thank you very much. So beautiful playing. I aim at playing as you do ! I love practicing and earing you helps me a lot.
Playing these almost 30 years ago. Bring memories back and I like Carcassi's positive studies. So much joy and not too hard to play. Thanks this and by the way what is the guitar brand ?
Hi! The guitar is a Yamaha. I don't remember the series right now. Anyway, it's not an expensive one. Thanks for commenting and I'm glad this took you back in time in such a positive way.
Thanks for commenting. Basically, I uploaded these pieces as interpretation examples for guitar students and beginners. I appreciate your inquiring about them, but, I am not selling anything at this moment. Take care!
The studies are listed right here at the comments section and with time marks. It was so kind of Armando to provide us with the listing that I haven't written my own list out of respect. Thanks for listening and commenting!
Hola!
Solo googlea "Boije Carcass"i y lo encuentras. Saludos y suerte!!!!
No 1 is the first thing I ever learned on guitar. I didn't know this until I found this wonderful audio. Thank You. I never learned how to read music for guitar, and that means 1 thing. Everything I was taught and learn on my own is tablature. Is there a resource where I could get this entire Opus in tablature, or should I take this opportunity to learn to read? I know the answer, but I sure would love to learn all of these. I wanted to learn Stairway to Heaven over 40 years ago when I first started, but my teacher scoffed and taught me No 1, and that classical should be my first love. IT IS. Thank You Again!
Hello, there! I doubt there is a Tab version for this Opus. However, I encouraged you and anybody to learn to read sheet music. Just be patient, keep practicing and you will get there. Thanks for listening and commenting!
@@JuanLeon-oe2gr Thanks for responding. I bought 2 Carcassi books, 59 in sheet music and 60 in tab. I am going to tab 59 myself and learn to read. It's not as hard as I imagined it would be thus far. I played trumpet in high school, so I know the notes, I just need to memorize where they are on the guitar. Thanks for this outstanding reference! I will be abusing it!
Hi! Health problems. Maybe, in the future...who knows? I've been playing more and more, not quite like in the old days but more than last year at least. Take good care of yourself! Thanks for listening!
@@JuanLeon-oe2gr sorry to hear you have not been well. Hope you are on the mend. Looking forward to hearing more from you. You too take care. Best wishes.
Hi Juan, Is it possible I could download the sheet music for all the pieces in this recording, I am studying the guitar and this would be a great help. Many thanks.
+Matthew Elijah Hello, Elijah. You can google "the Boije guitar collection"; and take a look at the catalog. There's a lot of great music there which we, guitar players, can use for our guitar studies. I am not sure if you can print it though. I really don't use it that much because I have bought a lot of methods already (the only time I use it is when I need to double-check the name of the pieces for the videos I upload) . You'd better read the instructions and conditions at the website (if there are any) before printing. There you will find the complete Carcassi method (which, by the way, I think is supposed to be public domain now... or not?? Maybe somebody else out there can help us with this). Greetings!
Hi Juan, Many thanks for your message. I am currently using a book by Philippe Bertaud called Matteo Carcassi Classical Guitar Method Op. 59 and Op. 60. So far in your recording you have gone up to 21 Waltz in D minor. Do you have recordings that go beyond this to complete Op. 59? I would find this very helpful in my study, as I can compare my playing with the correct playing. Thanks
+Matthew Elijah Hi, Matthew. I was planning on recording the other studies but my left hand was giving me way too much trouble. I have not played the guitar since November last year! I was diagnosed with a tendinitis and prescribed absolute rest. As you can imagine, it's a bummer! So I can't promise anything now, but rest assured I will try my hand at them as soon as I'm given the Go sign. Greetings!
On exercise 29 on that 3rd Line (9th position run) i don't see an E note written am i wrong? I love this video by the way I use it with my students and myself :-)
Hello! Google "Carcassi Boije" and you'll find the complete online version. If you still want to buy the method you can also find it on the Internet. I got mine through Amazon. Greetings!
What an ear!! I started noticing intonation problems with my guitar but much later than the date of this recording. Particularly in one of my Sor uploads. I've tried different things to remedy it but nothing seems to work so far. I guess it is about time for a new guitar. Greetings!
