I've had the Matterport 2 since the week the 2 came out. I have literally nothing nice to say about Matterport and their "Proprietary" tactics. Imagine if Sony made a camera, sold you it, and then charged you every single time you used the camera to take photos. Well, that's exactly what the Greed Monsters at Matterport do. Oh, and then they own and can use the capture that I took however they see fit. Then on top of that they sue and take out any little company's that try to enter the Commercial Virtual Tour space. The craziest part is that Matterport literally used a bunch of technology that other people built, assembled it, and then named it Matterport. They continue to charge their customers a fee every time they use the product that they already bought. You can tell these guys are the worst by the way they operate. I had issues with them charging me for the 3D file and called them to ask how I can get the data I captured out of the camera, and they basically closed my account, and stopped responding to me. Now, let the thing sit for two years during Covid (only used it six or seven times before,) and now the fucking camera isn't taking a charge. This company and the product they assembled is by far the worst. Now, I'm thinking that I will just go with a competitor, lol, rather then spending $250, possibly even $500 to replace the batteries. Man, I think Matterport is the worst company ever, I mean the audacity of these People. Oh you want your raw files, sorry, your going to have to pay for that. Did we tell you it's part Matterport's footage too? Lol, oh yea, last time I heard they were creating a new product that revolves around everyone else's footage. I don't recommend Matterport at all, unless you like paying for footage you captured, and you like giving the rights to that footage to a 3rd party. If I'm wrong, feel free to correct me. Then I read the comments below, and look at the type of stuff the company does, they put a kill switch in their camera so you have to even service it through either Matterport or Matterfix, I think the company is bad news. The tactics are more like a crime family then a camera company. You want your footage, too bad! You gotta pay, and if you don't like it, we'll just cut you off from literally the only application that can assemble their footage. Oh, and anyone online that talks about hacking the camera, oh they get taken care of through censorship and lawsuits. MatterGustapo!
just got a MC200 from eBay, previous owner stated that the batteries were dead. I tried to charge them over night and still 0%, so I purchased some 18650 cells 2600 mAh, rebuilt the battery packs and now the camera "sees" both batteries and when I plug in the ac adapter it shows battery full, but when I unplug the ac adapter, the camera powers off. Any pointers?
What happens when the Matterport batteries go bad is that the voltage drops to a certain point (to low for safety reasons) and the battery management boards activates a fail safe circuit that permanently disables that board causing the battery pack to no longer function. In this case the battery cells are still good but the board is permanently disabled and cannot be repaired. When this happens, the battery packs have to be replaced.
@@sitetour3604weird, I did manage to get her back wiring, just had to jumped a couple of cables, and that was it... bypassed the permanent deactivation, LOL
Great! That can be done but, but we cannot obviously suggest that as an option to customers as it could be dangerous if not done properly. Since you have the skill to rebuild your packs, then jumping the safety circuit looks like it will work for you.
