I mean it really does depend on how it was handled. If they were going to do manhunting exercises anyway, why not partner with a local videographer and document and make the actual manhunting process more transparent. Not claiming that this IS what happened or that Matthew is a good videographer but I can't exactly see anything WRONG with the idea either. They get actual experience in a non-stressful organized fashion finding someone trying to hide, he gets a video. Seems pretty tit for tat and win/win to me.

Looking it up, I found that some depts in the US have something called "Extra duty officers" that are technically off duty in terms of patrol, but businesses or event organizers can hire them for security, traffic control, etc.. So they still have their uniform and cars. I imagine he just paid an exorbitant amount to the dept to use some of those guys for this.

i assume they want kids or teens to express interest in joining the pd when they're older and thought that would be good advertising. i know some american police departments have youth programs and alot of kids who once were one those programs end up joining the pd when they're older

I think Memeulous is just being petty with this one. It’s just a fun video, actually pretty original. I mean, I won’t watch it, but still. Also there’s like 15 cops in that room and if takes them (assuming they are all searching, which i seriously doubt…) an entire day to find him, 8 hours, that’s like maybe $3600 in “taxpayer money”, which I estimate at a random 30$ an hour I just came up with as a guess It’s not $100,000 like he thinks, for some reason. Yeah, but like, I do feel like asking whether or not content this fast paced is healthy to consume for young kids. If I had kids, I know for sure I'd do my best to keep them away from trash like this. Preferably keeping them on streaming services with more moderation and people making content for kids that isn't only about tricking the algorithm.
