Dot Cotton is probably the most interesting character in the show and in tv. He’s scheming, slippery and manipulative to make him the perfect villain but we also believe he was groomed into everything and may have redeemed himself in his final moments.

Am I the only person who doesn’t think there’s anything romantic between Kate and Steve? They’ve always had their ‘mate friendship’ and can’t really imagine it being romantic. Looking forward to seeing what’s coming for their characters this season

I personally shipped Kate and Dot more. Kate didn't develop personal relationship with Dot cz she was undercover with AC-9. I mean she is not stupid as Steve. She also said "it's not that I didn't wanted to", that my friend is complex intriguing relationship right there. Wish we got more but it was perfect anyway.

No, you’re not the only one. And as for other comments here, I never sensed anything romantic between Steve and Kate. Or Steve and Dot.

Actually I think one extra interesting thing about Dot is the level of skills he seems to have picked up off the books. It really adds to his mysterious backstory. For example, as he says when framing Steve, he isn't officially firearms trained. Yet we see he clearly has proficiency with guns when he has to use them and he also refers to firearms in a very technical way several times. This means he was clearly introduced to them by his OCG associates. No doubt he is a formidably intelligent man, it almost adds to the sadness of his character that his skills were used for evil for so much of the show.

One thing I learned from Dot is that he clearly didn't want to kill. With Lindsay, he was going to send her back to prison- which would have been a mercy, then offered her money. He only killed her because Lindsay was a stubborn yet proud officer.

I think that they'll always leave some questions up in the air, that being the greatness of these shows that put antiheroes in gray we cannot help but love know matter how they trend toward black, but I feel like we still have a lot of Dot that can remain in the series even if he stays dead. (We're talking about a show that has protected witnesses and relocation into new identities as a matter of course, so there could be a big reveal on him not being dead--another reason AC12 wouldn't want that footage viewed too closely, not that I think it would be a great storyline to revive him, necessarily. Season 4 is the weakest because of how it stretches credulity, and probably bringing back Dot would, too.) Anyway, it seems like Dot was doing some digging on his own if he was able to put together the command structure of the OCG's infiltration of the police, and it really makes one wonder about that moment when Hilton suggests he take the inspector's exam. Did he know Dot was the Caddy or at the very least dirty? Is it something the OCG suggested to Hilton, coincidentally just an idea he had in trying to carry out his legitimate command duties rather than motivated by the dirty side, and/or an idea that stemmed from Dot putting himself in the path of the man he might have had plans to bring down? Denton suggested that she could clear her name and get her various sins forgiven by bringing in the Caddy, and it would make sense for him to have reached a similar conclusion that finding out what big fish he could trade along the way could someday get him off the hook--oldest trick in the book, right? So, even though both are dead, I see something there in that connection, as it sure looks like Dot figured out who Hilton was but whether Hilton knew about Dot is left murky. They do callbacks to the same elements repeatedly in the series, so it makes perfect sense for Dot to have "made a note" of names and roles that's hidden out there somewhere and ready to blow up. I just don't feel like we're done with Dot, dead or not!

7:22 At the bottom of the list the name Roger Hyde-Albert stood out to me, the same last name as the H suspect Susan Hyde-Albert!
@ClemsContent
@ClemsContent 3 года назад
That is a very interesting find! It's not a common surname, so it feels like it could have some relevance. I wonder if either Susan or Roger will make an appearance. Regarding the list, a lot of those abusers presumably got away with it (at least for now), since Dot only had time to testify against Fairbank before he had to resort to morse code. There's potential to expand on that for sure in the next season or two.

Question for you, probably asked before but it doesn’t sit well with me, how can we be absolutely sure Tommy Hunter is definitely dead? In series 2 he was brought out to the car but his head was covered. He was shot in the car but for some reason the car was torched, was it someone else in the car and torched that they could not identify that it actually was him? Was he not prompted by dot to go to witness protection, and the fact that the cops are so corrupt it could be made look like he actually was dead to get the police off his back so he can keep his OCG going without them knowing he is still alive?
@ClemsContent
@ClemsContent 3 года назад
I guess after the twist with the morse code in S5, nothing is out of the question. But I'd be really surprised. It definitely seemed like they'd closed the lid on that one.

One thing I've noticed is everyone who turns out to be bent in this series is an insufferable arse. I didn't find Gates particularly likable and this sod irritated me from his first appearance. I was glad to see him go. And Gill. From the onset I knew she was trouble. This is why I'm positive Hastings isn't bent. You can't help but like him. I have yet to watch series 6. I just downloaded it. It doesn't air in Canada.

There's white men in every season you tool. John Corbett, Hilton. Ryan Pilikinson. Ted and Steve. Stop trying to bring in a political agenda where there isn't one Diversity isn't a bad things as long as it isn't forced or at a detriment. The seasons weakened when they killed off Dot, not because more ethic characters are in it.
