I like the Idea of Stu being released from prison a reformed man and returning to woodsboro just as the murdered start to happen again. Imagine him acknowledging that he was a young man that was led astray by Billy and Roman and being remorseful of his younger self. There would be an really interesting dynamic between Sydney/Stu and Dewey.
or they could do alternative ending where stu and billy pulled off the plan and framed neil prescott successfully and killed sidney and then 25 years later (now) they start getting phone calls from someone using the ghost face voice who knows what they did

Kolezzek IT DOESNT MAKE SENSE AT ALL! you all sound idiotic thinking he’s still alive. If a miracle happened and he somehow survived, he would be blind asf and most definitely be brain dead. He’d be a vegetable, certainly not in any shape to be plotting revenge. I know it’s been confirmed by Matthew Lillard himself that they were gonna make him return in Scream 3, but everyone the interviewer asked how it was possible he would slide past the question and just say what he would be doing in the movie okay that’s fun and all but HOW are you doing those things it doesn’t make sense and I think Matthew knows it doesn’t make sense and he literally has no idea how he would’ve survived that too. I think it’s definitely one of the main reasons why they scrapped the script because they had a whole plot planned out but they realized the fans wouldn’t wanna just see Stu pop back in out of nowhere they wanna know what happened and they actually can’t explain it because it’s impossible. They didn’t wanna lose the realism of the show and make Stu be some sort of super human.

Wasn't he supposed to be back in Scream 3 ? I think he might get back in 6 and not in 5 tho, because the last film of the second trilogy must be a big change
They could make it so that he survived and got sent to jail and cops and news kept it secret because they didnt want Sidney to feel unsafe and they released him and he has a new identity and looks older with scars in His face and that he blamed that Billy killed everyone
You guys in the comments are hilarious, I remember every single quote by Stu, he made the movie! "Peer pressure, I'm far too sensitive" and "My mom and dad are gonna be so mad at me" are by far my favorite.
I'd love to see Stu back, preferably locked behind bars or in a mental institute. Perhaps Sidney has to go visit him because the killings reference him directly, a diehard fan of his trying to recreate the Woodsboro murders. Do a whole Micheal Myers homage where they are transporting him from a low security facility to a high security facility because they think his life is in danger when his van gets crashed into and he escapes/is kidnapped. We're left thinking if he orchestrated it or if the killer is trying to frame him. During the finale, have Stu kill ghostface just as he/she is about to land a blow on Sidney. Then when you think everything is safe, Stu plunges a knife into Sidney's belly just as the police show up and he's dragged away back to the facility. You could have a situation where as he's being led away by police one of the victim's family members shoots him in the head to get their form of justice. I just created my own little Scream 6 in my head haha.
That's awesome dude! We kinda think alike. I have similar theories about Kirby being a 3rd killer jill and Charlie didn't know and vice versa so when Kirby hears they died she takes Jill's star survivor plan and in 6 we find out that stu got released in 2022 and he is Kirbys older brother and show flashbacks of her visiting him in prison and talk what their plans were for the 4th until it got fucked by Jill lowland show us what he's been up to and how he's been the mastermind behind em since scream 2 as every killer always went to visit him etc etc lol

I don’t think Scream is a cult classic, it’s a general horror classic that is known by everyone of all ages. I still see kids dressing up as Ghostface for Halloween every year.
Bring Lillard back as Stu's brother, as part of a story where Ghost Face 25 is going after the families of the original murderers. Billy's Dad, Stu's Siblings, with some casualties along the way. Or something with an original twist to the original. Remember, this will only be the third scream taking place in Woodsboro. Would be nice to see Syd finally snap and just go take out personally of the previously mentioned. Just make it somewhat original and I'll be happy.
Matthew COULD play Stu's father. Remember we saw what happened to Billy's family, but Stu along with Micky and Charlie haven't resulted in reactions from parents on screen. Mrs. Loomis was a calculated Ghostface with insanity buried underneath. Matthew could show a twist in you thinking Stu's dad was as bumbling as he was, when in fact, he's extremely adept.

Dude deserves alot more credit and recognition. He is very talented and flexible with his characters he portrays. Its a shame they don't take him entirely seriously with his roles. Heads up, Matt, your day is gonna come.
"I think i'm dying." Mathew Lillard's character 'Stu, might have been a psycho killer but he was funny and somewhat likeable. I'd love to see him come back into it somehow although his death scene was pretty obvious and definitely could not come back from that. But he played his part brilliantly.
Lillard not voicing Shaggy in Scoob! Was a disaster. I grew up with Casey Kasem voicing.....but Lillard stepped up to the plate and has done nothing but hit homers. I actually prefer him as Shaggy now......omg....sorry I didn't talk about Scream 5. Lol.....Lillard....you're tha man
Bringing back Stu in Scream 5 would be too farfetched I guess. They could still honour Matthew in some smart way. But if they decide to do the Halloween 2018 treatment, and it would be a sequel to Scream, that gives us plenty of possibilities. Personally I wan to see Scream 5, with as many characters from 1,2,3 and 4 as possible. Whatever they do I hope for the product of passion, which will not mess with Craven's legacy.
I believe the plot of Scream 5 should revolve around survivors from the past few films. The sorority girls, Duane Martin, Mark Kincaid, Martha Meeks, Kirby Reed (please God) and the new killer should be slashing through all of them, we’d love a convoluted return of Stu

didn't they sorta reboot it for that Scream show? with a new story. The original continues though so it wasn't replaced. I thought they would try bringing Stu back in Scream 5 could be a play on the whole 'Reboot phenomena' and how lots of movies coming out lately are sequels to the first installment and ignore everything in between (Texas 3D, Halloween 2018 etc) and have Stu surviving his injury and not actually dead and comes back.
a plot twist i was thinking is that they could say stu had a brother or a twin brother no one knew about and he has come back. Matthew has had cameo's in both Scream 2 & 4.

He has two cameo's one in scream 2 and 4 and I've always believed that the cameo's where intentional and we're place there on purpose to potentially lead to something big in future films liked scream 5 and 6. They were supposed to for Scream 3 but then Colombine happened and they scrapped it. Anyway, how would they bring him back considering he died? Even if he had survived, he would have been taken to jail when the police arrived. There's no way he could have gotten away.
