Always great to see the full diversity of powell teamsters. Those who practice and hone their skills within a certain level or comfort zone and do their amazing thing...and others who love to challenge themselves and go all out to do ever more crazy "do or die" stuff. Truth is...both are really impressive and great to watch...but seeing Matthew flying about and doing big air is always something special. But big respect to all the powell team as they are all great skaters and characters.
Man I use to be a massive fakie snob but now I happily watch Wilcox tearing it straight up all day, looks amazingly satisfying, can see why he's so happy 😁🫒
I met Matt at El Gato. He was my very favorite skater to talk to ever, except for Aj, or Magnus, or Andy Mac, or Tony, I dunno, they're all so rad. Duane Peters was so awesome to meet. But on delivery, it's Matt Wilcox, he starts he's airs at like 6 feet out and then pulls up to go for another two feet. I remember being at Vans HB and asking someone who their favorite skater was and they said Matt Wilcox. What a treat. No editing needed. Such a cool dude. Really reminds me of Russell the muscle. Or Nemo as Grosso would say. Just a beautiful dude. Ayala, as properly referenced, being a reference to a politician who did great work and how that intertwines with the Chino community. Sometimes people call it Chino, which it is, but it's actually where the old world skate Gawds came together to push the limit of fun. This video will have a million views one day, and it's because Matt is a cool dude, and Nigel, thx for taking the time to promote him and Powell Peralta the world owes you for having this level of talent in skateboarding at Chino Ayala. I so needed this today!
