I think his parents let him act as a string-less puppet. Since his existence is over-shadowed by the puppet, he start to think like he is one with the puppet and hate it too much. It is shown that his mother even called him Louis (which is the name of the puppet) instead of his real name.
I think he's Polish since 'Cz'ernin is more preferable than in Czech. As a Czech name it would probably be 'C'ernin. (Černín) like Tracy Reznik (Řezník) But I don't really know myself, but it would be actually cool if that was true
I'm back here sorry I made a research because we were studying about Otakar Czerning, and so found out that it is a Czech origin, however they put the 'CZ' so it replaces the 'Č' that other languages don't have HOLY MOLY SO HE'S MAYBE REALLY CZECH? WHAT THE HELL HELLO??

I think Matthias and Louis are the same person, and Louis is simply a stage name given by his father. In my opinion Matthias was an only son, who was used for a 'stringless puppet' trick and lost his sense of self in the identity of this puppet due to his own parents neglecting his needs as their son and only focusing on what money and fame 'Louis' can gain them. I think the reason Matthias is so scarred is because every attempt to get rid of Louis is an attempt to get rid of himself, causing him to become severely injured.

That is interesting theories… in one hand i wish the first was real bc it really looks probable but it should mean we have another twin case (vera, joseph, ithaqua) But on the other hand… idk if we should believe in surnatural in this game

we literally have seer , priestess , enchantress , novelist , journalist and so many survivor with super natural abilities . not surprise if his one of those and i like supernatural character
Well I leaned something interesting about Mathias, his parents were once rich nobles who lost their riches but earned a living with their skills, his dad was a performing artist while his mom was a sociable socialite, and they wanted him to do the same and put him in the spotlight but because he was an introvert it was difficult for him to connect, his dad created Louis to be the version of him they wanted him to be, and his parents would compare Mathias to Louis, feeling alienated he tried to be skilled with the puppet but when he did it, it was never perfect, on his 23 birthday they threw a show for Louis instead of celebrating Mathias birthday and so he burned the puppet hoping to be free from it I really do love your theories, they are amazing and I really love rhe one you had on Mathias
@SilminaIDV I made an OC named Aarima Von Treir, aka, The Doll Maker (not to be confused with the Puppeteer or the Toy Merchant), basically an AU of Idv where Matthias worked for Hullabaloo Circus instead of the Theatre. Aarima is a distant cousin (though neither of them know that so they think they're both adopted siblings). Aarima and Matthias both escaped the Circus and were invited to Oletus Manor. Aarima was abused heavily as a child by Bernard and eventually, she gets sent back from Oletus and back to the Circus after being sold out by Orpheus. (Orpheus is more of a bastard in this AU). After getting sent back, leaving Matthias behind accidentally, she kills herself and this enrages Matthias to the point of burning down the Circus. With this AU, Louis was a puppet made by Aarima as a gift to Matthias since he was the only member of the Circus who genuinely cared for her and wasn't afraid of her ability to create illusions. Louis wasn't able to move on his own though, so she used her illusions to make Louis appear to move on his own. However, after her suicide, Matthias grew to distain Louis and burnt down the Circus along with Louis and a few other members who cannonically died anyways. He'd live, developing hallucinations and paranoia from the Manor Games and the trauma from losing Aarima, ending up in the White Sand Street Asylum due to his erratic behaviour during his episodes. Aarima was never recorded in police records or any sort of birth certificate, so she would go down as being completely forgotten by anyone outside of the Circus, and her death was completely unrecorded since her body was lost to the fire and was already dead in a lion's cage long before that...
nah joker totally burned it down dw, it couldnt be murro, sergi or violetta since they didnt have motives to, mike is literally searching who did it and marige doesnt really have that much of motives as joker. Joker literally was bullied and humilliated for the whole circus + burned for sergi and his deductios hint a lot of things about the fire in general.
Lets have a wild imagination, if he had a hunter version. What would be his "nickname"? What would be his ability's? What would he look like? & Why would his other self be a hunter?
Knowing how the game is connected to the macabre, I wouldn't be surprised if Louis was made with Matthias' blood, which is why they are bound, and how Louis isn't really a robot either
