Matua’s Sushi Bar & Islander Grill is a family restaurant located in Chula Vista, CA. The Rodriguez family, from the villages of Agat and Sinajana in Guam, have been in San Diego for nearly 50 years. During that time, they have enjoyed cooking and preparing Chamorro & Hawaiian dishes and sushi for family parties, special occasions, corporate events, luaus, and fiestas. "Opening a restaurant where we could share our Chamorro heritage and our passion for food with others has been a dream that we’ve hoped to realize for generations." says co-owner Racquel Rodriguez. The name “Matua” refers to ancient Chamorro royalty, and here at Matua’s Sushi Bar & Islander Grill we hope to live up to that name.
