It was not only Ulama but also many non-Ulama/mainstream Muslim leaders who opposed Jinnah and partition. Why are we only targeting Ulama ? What does Ulama's opposition prove ? It's true that most of the members of the Muslim League were not practicing Muslims, but they used Islam in their political campaign to advocate for the formation of Pakistan. Hence, the creation of Pakistan was truly based on religious terms, rather than in a secular sense. This is why Muslims from different backgrounds, whether Punjabi, Sindhi, Bengali, or Urdu speaking, were able to unite because of the religious ideology introduced by the Muslim League

This man is indeed a brilliant scholar, he should concentrate more on his teaching job and less on his political engagements. The real beneficiaries would be students and young people of Pakistan . The entire lot of people appeared very genuine, hard-working and their leaders appeared very honest and simple. There were few ladies also on forefronts, who were very dignified and spoke so well about their people's problems. Yes there is no news about them in last one year, their portal also disappeared. We knew about Bacha Khan, his Khudai KhidmatgAr party, friendship with Mahatma Gandhi and his role in freedom struggle. But today listening to you I got the real perspective of his role in emancipation of societies in Pak-Afgan bordering areas. Your commentary on Islamic Majahbi parties was so well articulated and factual. Moudadi - Barrister Jinnah feuds, mistrust is subject of so many books. I am not a Jamaat guy nor do I appreciate Maududi. However, he was right, that in the Muslim League, people were not at all Muslim in their personal characteristics and were in fact non-Muslims. The entire party was a creation of wealthy landlords and businessmen who were absolutely westernized in nature(Aga Khan/Jinnah). Grassroot activism was very low as compared to the Congress party. This is the reason why there is a class conflict in Pakistan even today.

Beautiful, Maududi sahib was a great religious scholar and an intellectual person. The likes of Dr. Israr Ahmad learnt from him. His house I remember on Ferozepore Road was a center of learning. He had a large following. Getting back to your point I think you are so right the creators were secular or beyond. To learn to tolerate others you have to have multicultural societies/ countries. Thus, as per your argument, Jinnah wished Pakistan to be a welfare state as some European State may have been, all encompassing, pluralistic. And obviously, Maududi sought it to be on the pattern of Madinah, in his perception, theodemocratic and religious oriented. Of course in either of the cases, there was a search for betterment on behalf of the propounders. But neither Jinnah nor Maududi got what they wished it to be bcoz the masses whom they addressed have yet (even after 70 years of self-rule) to prove their collective civilized character.

I was born in Pakistan. I have completed my graduation in Pakistan. Mr jinnah was my hero and I admired him a lot. Few years back I came to USA and I studied more history about tahreek e Pakistan and their leaders. After studying history, I realized that Mr jinnah was good politician , but he wasn’t that good. The partition of subcontinent was planned by England. They had too many reasons for that . Amir of Afghanistan, Amir abdur rehman khan wrote a book named “ taaj ul tawa’reekh” According to him, british were planning to divide subcontinent in to two parts. This book was written 47 years before the independence of Pakistan. How he knew it ?

Maulan maududi justified the creation of Pakistan in accordance with the Quran and Sunnah in his book "Musalman aur maujuda siyasi qashmakash". The muslim league couldnt bring any justification for the creation of pakistan except a national argument. It was naulana maududi who justified pakistans creation in accordance with islam.

Also I have read a few books by Syed Maududi. Of them the Al Jihad Filslam was written in 30s. In any of the books I haven’t found any such abusive and filthy language making it very difficult for me to believe in what Prof shb is quoting. Must be some fake papers handed over to prof shb. Also why did Syed Maududi then was given the task of delivering Islamic lectures on Radio Pakistan by MA Jinnah after independence?

Maulana Maudoodi's views are to be understood by going through his literature. Once you study his literature objectively, you would do justice. These people qoute him either wrongly or out of context. My appeal to you is, that you please study his literature and then decide, not by listening to this so called research.

Maulana Maududi's (R.A) last words which he wrote on a paper (because he couldn't speak properly ) were " I am a Muslim and I am a Pakistani ".... Also he supported Fatima Jinnah.
